Is there a way to uninstall the patch?

(TAngelo) #1

I normally play on Boomtown, who ran Etpro and who got broken last week when they installed the new patch, which as I understand doesn’t work with ETPro. Today though, it seems, Boomtown switched back to the ET version before the patch, which now makes me unable to play there as the patch is incompatible with previous versions of ET for some reason. Is there a way to ‘uninstall’ the new patch, or will I have to uninstall ET and download it again? Thanks.

I copied my original ET directory before applying the new patch, this way u can keep both versions for whatever server u play on.
Mrp

I just ran the 2.56 patch again and it switched back. Deleted pak2.pk3 as well, although not sure that mattered.

To switch back to 1.02 from 2.6, just run the 1.02 patch again and force it to run. Clients should be good. If you are running a server you will need to delete pak2.pk3 file in the server ETMAIN directory. If you do not delete pak2.pk3, clients that did not go from 2.6 back to 1.02 and leave the pak2.pk3 file, will be unable to join the 1.02 server. So the server needs to have the pak2.pk3 file removed for virgin 1.02 clients to join. Clients can leave the pak2.pk3 file in there ETMAIN directory as it will not be used, but PURE servers will need to remove the pak2.pk3 file.

Thanks for the replies; I downloaded the patch selector last night, tried it, and it works! Might be a good idea for anyone else that’s having problems as well.
