is there a third party involved in brink?

(kilL_888) #1

hello there.

that last trailer with the glowing thingi at the end wont leave my head. i was thinking and thinking more… what is that glowing stuff. oh, i know, it must be aliens.

thinking further. what if? will we see the aliens as a third party (resistance, police, aliens) in game? will we be able to fight em in coop?

i mean. we are doing a singleplayer game (also coop) with story and cutscenes, right? so, fighting against a opposing team is fine and fun, but i like innovation. i i find it very innovative if theres a third party of, lets say, aliens there, that fights both factions, maybe?

im looking at something like aion where you also have 3 factions. 2 player factions, one npc faction. all 3 are in permanent conflict.

i dont want to say, let them aliens do objectives, like we do, no, just let them spawn soemwhere, let them shoot at me with their crazy energy weapons and let them get shot by me and my teammates (and the opposing team of course).

just an idea that came through my mind when i saw that glowing thing.

Nope… is the NPC/thing you need to escort… i think is where you start your next objective… is Beta from “Defying Gravity” or a swarm of Firefly’s hovering over Sasha Grey naked body

The ‘thing you need to escort’ is the bot that opens up the container for the Security

(Dormamu) #4

i was talking about the green glow = the thing… So, you use the bot to take the swarm of firefly’s and escort them back to the boat/heli, and someone need to stay there to protect SG?

I thought it was some sort of ‘dirty bomb’ o:

(tokamak) #6

It’s green - energy! Oh I’m hilarious.

(stealth6) #7

it’s a secret utopia they have artificially created in container city

(SockDog) #8

That’ll be Sasha then.

(system) #9

That’s already becoming sort of a running gag…

(Nail) #10

lol, I smell “easter egg”

(tokamak) #11

She’s the third party, the evil puppet master of the Ark.

(NoFace) #12

To be honest I though that ‘THE NEXT AMERICA NINJA WARRIOR’ was the evil puppet master of the Ark lol

(tokamak) #13

They may both be easter-eggs.

Maybe let the NEXT AMERICAN NINJA WARRIOR sneak around in the background while a cut-scene is going on.

yea, yea. i know it sounds weired and funny.

but i dont think the idae is that far off. ok, remove the aliens as a third party, but let them have a role in the story.

i already have a level idea. a rusty, old, broken satelite fell down from space and wasnt somehow burnt by the atmosphere. its there in a centric large area, sourrounded by trash, containers and so forth in container city.

(or, no even better… its a part from the recently destroyed ISS. no one knows what happned up there, maybe it was an ALIEN attack. )

there was some lifeform on that satelite (ISS). OR an alien substance for that matter. and guess what? this substance is the green (or was it blue, nevermind) glowing thing at the end of trailer no.3.

oh, and sasha grey for new dopefish :stroggbanana:

Was prob just a tourch someone left turned on behind a pig pile of green jelly they forgot to eat.

(tokamak) #16

It’s just that aliens don’t belong in such a storyline at all. The setting is already excellent, an isolated location with extreme wealth and extreme poverty going on at the same time.

(kilL_888) #17

yea, i know. but why not just add to the social problems, some science fiction. im looking at district9 and the setting always reminds me to container city. and that movie tied social issues (apathy for example) and science fiction with aliens pretty good together.

but i dont know. maybe i had a little too much fantasy there.

I really hope that they don’t do this…

Completely unrelated, congrats on making the 5000th post in the Brink forum.

I do believe that’s worth a Brink t-shirt. PM me your address and t-shirt size and I’ll have one sent your way

Tokamak makes 5,000 a week, doesn’t that count for something?

I kid… of course. Congrats kilL_888!!
