Hello, I’ve never actually played RCTW that much. I played the multiplayer demo a lot and played it at a friends house a couple times. My question is, now that Enemy Territory is out, do you think its worth buying? Do people still play it online?
Is RCTW worth buying still?
Yes people are still playing it, all seeing eye reports over 2000 on players right now. IMO it is well worth buying, and should be quite cheap at thist point. It is simpler (less weapons and classes, no xp, no moving objectives) but in a way that just makes it a more intense game. There are also a whole lot less noobs.
Definately still get it. I think players are going to have fun with both games. I love ET but still have to get my RTCW fix. Its great depending on mood hopping on one or the other. If have alot of time to kill…ET… If want a shorter game …RTCW. RTCW will help you with ET because its a bit simplier as SCDS_reyalP says. I think with ETs release there may be alot more people thinking of buying RTCW. Great change of pace playing both.
yeah some of the maps are still fun
and once you get past the first few missions in the single player it actually gets good haha (the level designers for the first missions should be shot)
I found RTCW very much less attracting to play once ET was released : Now, somehow, it does not ‘reward’ you, when you dig out ammo/med packs for your team.
And also, on pubs, there’s less team cooperation in RTCW (as it’s kinda forced in ET : If you dont’t work together : slight chances you can make it : While with RTCW, you could go in, and do all by yourself)
But on the thing of buying RTCW : Yes . Since it’s not the full prize anymore these days, it’s worth your money.
The single player part iis quite amusing, and the MP-part is still alive… so go for it
Advantages of RTCW compared to E.T.:
-
Smaller maps = shorter games = more intense gameplay.
-
Faster rate of fire of SMG’s makes for more intense 1-on-1 gunfights and gives RTCW a more “arcade” like feel than E.T.
-
Far, far, fewer noobs, meaning more teamplay in evidence, everyone knows what to do.
-
No XP which means players concentrate on the objective and teamplay rather than their own score.
Disadvantages of RTCW compared to E.T.:
-
Smaller maps = shorter games = boredom factor sets in quicker.
-
Faster rate of fire of SMG’s means aim is less important (spray and pray and you’re still likely to cause some damage) and makes for a less “realistic” gameplay experience.
-
Far, far, fewer noobs, meaning unless you’re a decent player you’re gonna get owned!
-
No XP which means you’re not specifically rewarded for doing your job (but as teamplay is pretty non-existent on public E.T. servers but taken for granted on RTCW servers, this isn’t really an issue, yet).
So, get RTCW as it’s so cheap now, and you’ll either appreciate it’s benefits or you won’t, but personally I find RTCW dull and stale now I’ve been playing E.T. for a while.
