Is it true?

(NoCanDo) #1

Here’s a closed beta player statement about the game:

I paid for alpha and found some support lacking when it came to updates they said were coming to add a map or two and it seemed no one was ever even playing to “test” the game. Then Nexon bomb hit and I feared the worst. I tried playing since the take over and again found no one ever in a server the couple times I tried. It also took one day to see where Nexon is going to capitalize on microtransactions to give you the various characters or unlocks etc. based off the updated interface that occurred with the Nexon patch/new client. Splash never really stated how they planned to microcharge before Nexo so maybe this is their doing and nothing unexpected but I still smell Nexon taint all over the game.

If it’s true it seems a bit ironic considering the fact that I’ve been waiting for a key since January.

(Korpblast) #2

I’ve also been waiting for a key. I just expect that the new site they’re lauching are good news, and also that they would not block foreign IP (since my country wasn’t even listed in the beta inscription form).

Link the source please.

this guy got no idea, its bull****, everything is allright! stay tuned for a great game!

I applied for a key way back, i’ve not had anything at all. It’s disappointing but then it’s in development. You just Have to wait. I’ve been waiting for a key for ages but you soon lose interest.

I could have cried or posted some Jeremy Kyle story of why i needed a key but i have a job, kids etc.

I hope for SD’s sake that extraction isn’t a fail game and it does well but i do worry that it will be lost in the ftp market.

Time will tell

(Korpblast) #6

Indeed is in development, but it has been to quiet for a long time. They should generate some hype about it to keep it moving, and for that you don’t need to make incredible complicated things, just maybe an announcement every 2 months or something like that.

(RasteRayzeR) #7

I hope I won’t break my NDA here, but I feel you deserve some honest answers to your posts guys.

The beta is done by letting people in by waves. If the developers feel the game is ready for more players, then new waves of invites will come. This is done for the sake of the game since there is no point in bringing everyone in the beta if the devs don’t feel it is right. It’s a good sign they take the time to develop the game. It means they will release it when it is as close as possible from what they want XT to be (that’s exactly what any sane gamer would want).

FWIW, I feel like XT will be a success for SD because they really work hard on it, but that’s only my opinion.

For sure creating hype is easy, but creating the good kind of hype requires a lot of work. Look at games like Rage for example: they created the hype way too early and let people understand the goals of the game wrong. The result was a total marketing failure, players disappointed, and a game that didn’t sell much …

Again, SD will come forward with the game when they feel it’s the right time, you have to trust them on this (and it’s their job, they know better than we do no ? :D)

Nice to see some discussion over here xD. The thing of the foreign IP recognition comes from the fact that Nexon has many games with that kind of stuff. I know that in theory SD has the last word about that kind of stuff, but I guess is worth to say this kind of things here so that the guys from SD see that people from South America are also interested in the game, and that we’re an important part of the FPS community. About the “hype” thing, I don’t mean to say a lot of things that maybe you’ll not deliver, but to announce little things to make some “FPS underground scene” hype.

Waiting to see some news soon enough ;D

Cheers all.

It’s hard to answer that question. Because it all comes down to peoples own opinion (and we are not allowed to speak because of a NDA). Only thing that is true is that there are not many people playing/testing the game. But that’s a decision SD/Nexon made. They will open the floodgates when the game is ready.

Any part of the community is important. I’m sure SD with Nexon will do everything they can to make sure you get access to XT, For the rest, NDA forbids me to tell anything more than I have already done

Good news will arrive, sooner than we might expect.

Thanks buddy !

The answer is: Nope. It is uninformed speculation!

you tell us, check your pm

(NoCanDo) #14

Good to hear it’s just a disappointed players speculation.

(Darksider) #15

All I know it’s just weird this far along there’s no new teaser vids/infos talking about the game, personally I’ve lost interest since I’ve heard nothing new about it other than NEXON a F2P publisher with a not so great reputation taking over distributing the game to the masses when it comes time to. I’ve been wanting play and give feedback about it when I first heard about it. Shoo, I still play Brink for god sake, lol.

(Rex) #16

Sounds super desperate…

(davidemo89) #17

have you heard about “this” “news”?
http://extraction.nexon.net/

(Brinkman) #18

I lost interest when the game was purchased by Nexon. What a mess that was. Even if their launcher has been fixed and the game has been patched since, I can’t see myself going back. The honeymoon is over. Splash Damage really shot themselves in the foot going with this publisher. I’ve lost interest.

I only came back on the site here because they just sent me an email essentially begging me to start playing again. As you can see by my reg date I’m a long time SD fan… but what they pulled here was just unacceptable.

I guess I’m still waiting on that true sequel to W:ET… No micro transactions, no Korean run free to play publisher. I know you’ve still got it in you SD.

(DB Genome editor) #19

Don’t take it personnaly, everyone registered for the Beta should have received that email, including those of us actively playing. Many people on the forums have been bugging them for a while to do that after a major update because we felt some of the folks who bailed out earlier should be informed that things have evolved (don’t expect most of them continued following the forums, so how else are they going to know?). I don’t think there is any begging involved here…

Too bad you decided to not even bother just on account of the publisher without even knowing their impact on the game…

(Ruben0s) #20

Well as I read it(vip section) only founders (vip, people who paid 120+) got the email.

But in the email it self it says because your a member of the beta community.

I also lost interest in playing extraction, but from what I can see on the forum the game is moving to the right direction.
