Of course they are trying to get people to come back, but I read it more as a “come see what you’ve been missing” rather than a “please give us a second chance”…

This statement was obviously before owen mahoney got involved! Well I enjoy the game now for a year and I still want to play it.

I interpreted it more as “come see what we’ve done while you were gone”. If people don’t want to come back and test new changes and give feedback on them, that’s their loss really. Unless you don’t want to be a tester and help with development, then might as well wait for release to see if you like the final product or not.
