Now first off, I am no balance or programming expert whatsoever. I vote server kick. Since the game is still in beta, this kind of thing is likely to exist and that’s fine until they fix it, only so many hours and all that, but I’d hate for someone who was just bored and screwing around one time in beta (just booted up the game, yucking it up with friends one night) to not be able to play the game years later when the game is running on all cylinders or something.
Plus an auto-permaban philosophy kinda system would result in a lot of players getting screwed because they accidentally triggered it (beta is beta), and then you clog up the system with having more people trying to run through the appeals process. Appeals are already enough of a pain when almost all of them are lying about being innocent, it’s only worse if a bunch of them are actually totally innocent.
Permabanning for hacking kinda makes sense to me (as long as your security stuff isn’t banning folks for software they weren’t using to hack the game, which I hear has happened or something), because that player has clearly represented a malicious intent to cheat just by having it be there, but with glitch stuff it can be way too iffy, especially for a beta. No mens rea, no men flayed! You might say it’s possible to totally prove malicious intent on bug exploits and you’re right, but I don’t think it’s worth the additional management effort for what is inherently better solved by patching the glitch entirely.
That being said, I still say report everyone you see exploiting it. Always better to have the offenses on file. I dunno about a one-strike rule permaban, but maybe after enough chances or a series of lesser punishments you work your way up to permaban. I dunno, again I’m no programmer, so I’m not saying I’m right, this is just my feedback on the subject.
TLDR: DON’T DO THE BAD THING BUT ALSO DON’T EXECUTE BREAD THIEVES IN THE TOWN SQUARE.
No, because it pulses to prevent the snipers team from having too much unfair location information…and it doesn’t even show which direction a player is facing, OR what merc their using (so run around a corner and see a Fragger with 2 fingers up…so much for knowing he was there with that nade in yo’ face).
@DxDark You don’t know how wallhacks work do you? They just report the position of the player (usually via just a box around the character) and don’t show anything to do with which merc, direction, etc. COUGH not that I would know. COUGH jk
If it were CS:GO there are wallhacks that take advantage of the spectator system’s x-ray feature but instead of in spec, it’s in multiplayer so that’s the only instance an enemy has an outline, etc around them. @DxDark
