Is ETQW really about teamwork?

(fart666) #61

dunno, but you really never played rtcw, the father of the wolf serie (including quakewars?) which cost the same amount of money as quakewars will; just dont count on the pricepoint.

The game should kick anyone idle for 2 minutes to observer to free the slot and make the teams more balanced. Not only they create false impression of balance, but also hinder teammates by blocking spawns etc.

there’s a function called callvote, no need for forcing things like this, otherwise you would just go pee and getting kicked (temporally banned) for just no reason…

(Strogg) #62

but isn’t that where the fun start’s… :D[/quote]

Well kool I wont have to worrie about you TKing Teammates and you will leave my server because you could not tk teammates muhahahaha :stroggbanana:

(Strogg) #63

I have ran game servers for 10 years. I know what works and dont work. I have found if team damage is turn off I dont have to worry about A!! Ho!! Tkers. I have found out that if people like to TK and find out they cant they leave the server. That sounds great to me. I dont want to have to baby sit a server. I have always had team damage turn off and it works great. You sure in the hell dont want a bunch of noobs killing you by accident. You want to have fun on a server and you sure in the hell dont want to have to worry about Tkers and and accidental team kills… You just want to kick ass and have fun!! That is my house rules!!!

(fart666) #64

and you did still not recognise that your servers are empty all the time for the last…ten years?

(B0rsuk) #65

I’ll put it this way: what harm can come out of automating this ? This can be easily automated. It’s much simpler than teamkilling, because teamkilling can be accidental or even someone else’s fault.
Callvotes often don’t work against anything but most outrageous teamkilling or cheats. Teamkills are colored red. Idle players aren’t. It would be quite hard to convince others to kick that guy, besides I don’t think it’s really necessary. If the person is going to return in few minutes, I think he should be allowed to stay on observer. But staying in spawn, blocking teammates, giving xp to spawncampers and creating false impression of balance is not ok.
Besides, I said 2 minutes. You should be able to go pee in 2 minutes, even if you’re a woman.

ET:QW is all about tapirs. you have to grow the best tapir and use it to ram the GDF(cuz tapirs are strogg).

(fart666) #67

gave me a hard laugh…but what when it turns into a shitsession

so my advice for you: just don’t play pub :!:

(Flesh) #68

I resent that remark. By no account are all tapirs Strogg. If so GDF might just as well lay down their weapons since they dont stand a snowballs chance in hell without any tapirs.

You cant have a decent server without firendly fire. This reminds me of that hitsound discussion. Even tho playing without ff is, at firist, more fun, friendly fire is an essential part of the game. Taking it out is like dumbing down the game.

Oh and btw, two min is to short and kicking is too radical. 5min idle = move to specs, 10 (or 15) min idle = kick

(space) #69

Well those are some of the best W:ET players in the world… I think Darki might be in that one

And TosspoT knows what he’s talking about… WTF are YOU talking about??? He’s like the ET shoutcasting guru ! !

(z00b) #70

Haha, now that’s the right attitude when it comes to gaming…

I am absolutely blown away by how seriously some people take these things and how pissed off they get when random acts of binary mayhem don’t go their way.

Log off, <insert alcohol/drug/workout of your choice>, do something else, play again, have a blast, but don’t let gaming become something negative.

Hilarious, that gave me a great laugh, cheers lads!

(B0rsuk) #72

I think ET:QW will be much more about teamwork than W:ET is. In W:ET , 3 people with aim between 40 and 50 percent can handle entire (pub) teams on their own. I doubt it will be possible with all these vehicles and deployables. If a medic attacks an anti-personnel turret head-on, he’ll get his ass handed to him, most likely. And he won’t have enough grenades to take it down. Rocket soldiers will be good against vehicles and probably decent against turrets, but with only machine pistol he won’t be able to defend himself very well in close quarters, or against snipers. Snipers should do very little damage to vehicles, especially aircraft which they can’t really hit with grenades. Engies will be busy fending off field ops and infiltrators.

If you want to run an unranked server like that, that’s absolutely fine by me. I know a lot of people share your view (I just don’t happen to be one of them :)).

I agree, having team damage off means that it requires less skill. You can shot into the middle of a pack, full of your players, and not have to worry about hitting them. It also leads to exploits, such as shooting a panzer at a teammate to get them over an obstruction (Oasis wall).

Team damage should always be on, it increases skill and makes you play the game the way it was meant to be played.

(Gringo) #75

Team damage off will also negatively impact on ur ability to part take in clan matches as ur mentality will be shoot at anythin that moves!

(murka) #76

when i drunk much coffee i shot everything that moved and some things that didnt. ah that was so bad.

(vcs2600) #77

When W:ET was a new game, there was plenty of teamwork on the pubs. I think people got bored of being engineer and playing for the objectives – more fun to shoot people and get xp.
