Is ETQW really about teamwork?

Something that infuriates me, is that a guy in another forum said that, to win, you don’t move as a group.

In Wolf ET, I see the teamplay aspect broken alot. Well in the servers I play in. I see people dispersing in random directions, so they could do what they want to do. They aren’t really working as a team.

In fueldump, I always blow up the gates, then switch to engy and try to blow up fueldump, but that fails because the gates are up again.

And I don’t have to holler “We need an engineer” everytime to blow up the fueldump. My teammates should know that, if an engy hangs out with a covert ops, then it is easier to get into the fueldump, than independently doing their objectives. Not to mention you get killed by lonewolfing.

And while I was axis, I was so used to the bad teamplay of the opposing team, that we were using the same strategies to beat them. This time, they overwhelmed the base because they were moving as a group.

That is how ETQW should be played. Moving as a group, or else we wouldn’t have spawnwaves.

That all depends if the other people you are playing with wants to play the game, or chit chat around, or just death match…

You cannot force some one to play the game (unless your the admin ;))

Just because it’s not being played with teamwork, doesn’t mean it wasn’t designed for teamwork. As you mentioned, it’s much easier to win Fueldump with a covie/engie combo…which is…teamwork :smiley:

you seem to be ‘infuriated’ alot…maybe you should start some sort of alcoholic regime to help deal with this…

I started the argument that bunnyhopping kills teamwork.

Now for teamwork, what do you rely on, a teammate, or your lone skills? I think that the reason to take away bunnyhopping, the one where it is all dodging with an extra up down dimension, is to make people rely on a teammate if you are lonewolfing and you happen to encounter 2 guys. You can either bunnyhop your way through it, which gives you a chance of winning, or you can have a buddy along, and win with the same chances as the bunnyhop.

The people I detest the most are those who overrely on a single skill, and if they can’t use it, they whine that such feature MUST be included in game.

And every feature added in = to months of delay for testing. CivIII failed that becuase they added a feature at the last minute, and they released it, without testing it long enough.

Now I may understand why ETQW is taking so long. Every new feature added delays the game by a few months.

if you dont work as a team in QW then you lose!!,

I think that if there is gonna be stats then only the winning sides stats
should be altered as that would make ppl work as a team, battle hard
for victory. That would stop all the exploiters as they would need to win
the map as they dont get any points, thats wot BF2 should of been as it
would of stopped all the cheaters doin the same stuff over and over and if
the side lost they dont get nowt!!

That too. I love blowing stuff up. And building stuff. And that CAPS quote above. I love laying mines around the tank on goldrush. Just as they fix it, BOOM. We have damaged the tank. It was hilarious.

And SCI FI, the same stuff over and over is totally lame and I agree. Have you played mortal kombat, or street fighter just to see your opponent do the same moves over and over?

Or in basketball, people seem to assume that shooting 3’s all the time is the only way to win? It was a one on one game. My cousin, who shoots at any distance that is open, beats a guy who shoots 3’s all the time.

What I’m pissed off is that there are a group of players who don’t realize that ETQW is teamwork, and want stuff changed in the game, just so they could lonewolf anything easier.

well i dunno man, i played at bunker 1 and i got pretty good with the flamethrower, 60+ kills in a game

still when it was required i would play as a covops and launch smoke grenades where it was needed, i’d sacrifice myself for the team so we could move forward, but it’s nice to have an option where you can rule if you want

as long as you let people think for theyr own everything will be settled fine, trust me…no need for “do what the instructions say!”

This is true. Take goldrush for instance. I can take an (Allies) medic, stock up on ammo and go behind the axis bank where I can survive long enough to kill several ppl and completely distrupt the axis defenses all by myself. You shouldnt be able to do that in a team game!

I honestly hope that you wont be able to do things like this in QW. Thats why Im pleased to hear that SD removed bunnyhoping/ strafejumping. No more uber 1337 skillerz winning the map by themselves, its a team game so you depend on your entire team to win.

Welcome to the pub servers. Those can be unpredictable, so you better pick another unless the one closest to you is still 1000 KM away.

As for the other comments in this thread: by design, W:ET allows teamplay but also doesn’t stop asocial gameplay. I’d wonder though how the game would look if we didn’t have the freedom to do so.

Indeed thats right.

For mathces and competition teamwork is everything.

For pub servers you usually do everything all by yourself.

(offtopic - fueldump all by myself won in 4 mins, without tj and on 20 fps. on 26 players server with 16 ppl online.)

If u like the teamwork i suggest to you to join in a clan…not for how this game will or will not be (who know now? the game is not on shelves) but generally speaking is quite utopistic to find good temawork in a public server, whatever game you are playing…

God, I really hope the game is about teamplay. If not Ill have to go back to go back to Tribes 2 and an older game. IMHO the Tribes 2 is the only game I have played where the whole Tribes 2 community is dedicated to teamplay. Just wish other game communities worked as well :wink:

from all the stuff ive read I don’t think you can play the game and do well without teamplay, even if your a stat whore you need teamplay to finish objectives and such

well said, but the mainproblem is that alot of poeple here just dont know what teamplay in wolf means. i, formyself, just pray to god to never have to play with these…peeps.

ps. the funny thing is that the peeps who cry only for teamplay are the ones with no clue about it…
