Is Brink really a budget title at full price?

(Petrolbomb_Tom) #1

with only 8 story levels which can be finished in 5 -10 min’s each (I don’t count playing the same level wearing a different hat as a new levels ‘resistance/security’) so the game can be finished a less than 2 hours.

No single-player - you can’t suddenly count bot’s as a single player game - they never have been before so why with Brink? Do you call the Bot feature in BO’s multi-player single player?

Budget tiles like Monday night combat or Section 8 have more content than Brink so why is being released at full price not $10 or 1200 MSP?

Troll harder.

Or you could look at it like a free 2 play with around $200 dollars in content unlocked:wink:

I don’t think that there will only be an 60 minutes lasting campaign. Do you have a source to prove this?

Q3Arena’s “single player” was you vs. bots, so it certainly has been done like that before

These other budget titles may have more “content” in terms of levels, but does that really affect longevity? Can you really quantify that? Because I played vanilla ETQW a few times recently, and still with the same old collection of maps, it was as fun as it’s always been for me. I think this one is pretty subjective really…

I’ve never played MNC - I hear it’s quite good though. Section 8 - meh, that won’t be around for too long I think. Brink offers longevity - something that is never guaranteed with budget titles, but in fact is usually in doubt with those titles from the beginning. As I said I never tried MNC - but I doubt that either of these games has the depth that Brink will offer.

Black opps with bots is a single player, do you mean campaign? in that case its not campaign because it doesnt have a story line like brink. and it would be hard to create a single player game without bots unless your fighting yourself.

The same could be said for TF2

OMG, you are so right. I’m going to sue Blizzard to give me all the money I’ve payed for World of warcraft. That one doesn’t even have singleplayer…

This poster thinks they are going to make Brink look bad but they only give people another chance to talk about how awesome brink is. Last night I played the ETQW demo on xbox live for about an hour with a friend and had a blast and would continue to play it whenever with whoever. It’s a solid game with replay value. Not every video game has to be a single player experience built around one person. Even though some people act like that’s what real life is.

(Seyu) #13

The Battlefield series comes to mind.

Edit: Anyway, couldn’t the same be said for titles that offer only single player gameplay? Since when did either of sp or mp become a pre-requisite?

(Schwarzeis) #14

BRINK is a multiplayer game, like Team Fortress 2 but with a story

Team Fortress 2 had a metric ****-ton of replayability for me, I still play it from time to time but not as much as I play something else and I don’t have as much time as I did before

But all in all…

Yes, from what I’ve seen, heard and smelled, BRINK is a game worth the full price-tag

(tokamak) #15

I just bumped this to tell everyone not to respond to this.

(Protector) #16

If infact it is true that you can complete the game in under 2 hours then some may think its not worth the wonga but the multiplayer looks to give you alot more than just two hours worth of gaming and thats a massive selling point for me.

(TAPETRVE) #17

Left4Dead was a full-price game, too. It had 4 campaigns that could be played through in half an hour each (if you were really good at surviving, that is). So what?

(Vanchatron) #18

Honestly, why post stuff like this? It’s not even out yet & you’re trying to prevent sales. Don’t bull****, that IS what you’re trying to do, whether you deny it or not.

If you don’t want it, don’t buy it. Simple. It’s a Multiplayer game, therefore for people who don’t play Multiplayer, they can buy something else.

Last time I checked there was 798 games available for the Xbox 360. I’m pretty sure you can find another game if you don’t want this one. If your aim was to get a reaction out of people, then I guess you succeeded. Gratz.

Apart from that, you’ve gained nothing.

(Whydmer) #19

Ummmm. All single player FPS games are only against Bots… highly scripted bots that will do almost the exact same thing everytime you go through the same campaign section. The suggestion with Brink is that the bots will have greater freedom of action than normal along with the deep context story line. So really Brinks Single Player Campaign is a campaign on steroids compared to other FPS singleplayer campaigns.
