I started gaming when i was about 5 or 6 back in the mid nineties, jumping back and forth between the NES and SNES till the Playstation came out. I spent most of my time playing games on consoles, until a few years ago, when i jumped into pc gaming. Some of my favorite games are Star Wars Knights Of The Old Republic 1 and 2, and lots of other RPG’s. Some of my favorite Shooters are Battlefield Bad Company 2, Battlefield 3, and Brink. Most of the time I play in a pub match. I mainly play for fun, whether I win or lose, as long as i have a good time. I would love to get involved in modding eventually, when I have some more experience with modding tools. I have been more excited for this game than any other game in a while. I’m glad to have the chance to help shape this game and to help find bugs and other issues in this game.

WIND?!?! is that you?

Hei!

Just a quick hello from a new DB player!

Been playing RTCW, ET, ETQW and Brink (as NW.Life and eQ Lifeh) and count ET as my favourite game ever…except maybe for Manic Miner and Fort Apocalypse.

Did some mapping for ET (‘Decoder’, hmm…perhaps time for a final relase of that?) and would love to see mapping tools released for DB!

I don’t know the maps at all, so for now I just follow other players randomly around…even if someone (w???) was kind enough to give me an intro to the maps the other night.

Also, today marks my SD-forum 10th year anniversary! :stroggbanana:

(Floris) #385

Hello everyone,

I’m Floris, 23 years old, born and raised in the Netherlands and have been playing FPS games for about ten years.
My first experience with gaming was on a 8086 with games such as Barbarian and Sokuban. The next momentous event was when my parents bought me and my sister a NES, I loved that console so much. Eventually we went mobile as my dad returned home from work with a Gameboy one day. It was a great companion when we were travelling the French countryside during holidays.

Meanwhile I continued to play games on the PC, such as Knights and Merchants, Age of Empires and the Anno series. Having had short stints with Doom and Quake, the first shooter I seriously started playing was Star Trek Voyager Elite Force (an idTech3 game, it felt great). I liked the fast paced game modes, but I was also a great fan of role playing. My next game would become one which I would devote a large part of my life to, it was Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory.

I have very fond memories of the first few months of playing W:ET, as there was so much to learn: Maps, classes, tweaks, running a server. I started a few public clans, including the (not so creatively named) A-Team and the “Liberated Rebel Front”, before joining the Unpatched League as an admin. I also started my first competitive team, Team Fortuna, which played in the lower levels of competitive ET. I started writing blogs for Crossfire.nu, got promoted to its staff, covered some of its LANs and overall had a really good time.

ET:QW was set out to become the next big game for me, between when it was announced and it was released I could talk about nothing else. My friends got to hear every bit of news and rumour. I bet they still dislike me for that :). It was a great game which I at some points played just as intensively as I played W:ET. I played it competitively for a while, but I was really sad not to see the game grow as big as W:ET used to be. I haven’t been able to get back into gaming since then, though I did play Warsow and Quake Live competitively for short amount of times. I’ve played Brink a handful of times online, but it just wasn’t the game for me I guess.

And now I have arrived here. I hope to find some of the passion I had for W:ET in playing DB. The community at least seems tightly knit so I’m really happy to join you.

(Wezelkrozum) #386

That was me  Welcome to the community!

(leifhv) #387

Ah, right…I remembered the first letter at least! Thanks for map-guidance!

(Mustang) #388

Lol, I thought it was meant to be a guessing game.

(randompubhero) #389

Hey all!

I’m a casual gamer who is recently introduced to this game by a very good friend of mine Adeto. A few days ago I applied for the closed beta and I was very surprised that I’m already in the closed alpha! So big thanks to the team who made that possible!

A little background information about me, I’m 23 year old IT student from the Netherlands and I often play FPS and RPG games in my spare time. My very first shooter game was Return to Castle Wolfenstein (1.0 only) which I’ve spend countless of hours on public servers with good old maps like Beach, Base, Assault, etc. and from there I went to Wolfenstein Enemy Territory where I’ve joined a few public clans over the years and I still play etpro once and a while.
Besides these games and I’m also a huge fan of the Battlefield and Grand Theft Auto series

Anyways I just wanted to say hi to everyone here and maybe see you guys on the field!

Hey all,

My name is Adam and I reside in the states, Florida to be exact. Been gaming my entire life about to be 31 this year. Started pc gaming around 97 with rogue spear urban operations. Been playing with a few of the guys ever since and they play DB as well. I have always been very competitive and enjoy a face paced action packed game like DB. Like many others I have attended many events including CPL. I enjoy playing this and smite with my fellow dark side brethren. I am always active and willing to help the community. If anyone is ever in a bind I will be more than happy to help if I can. Looking forward to playing with everyone.

Edit - I am not the 4th best sniper in the world and I don’t have 500k (I mean 9) followers but I am a nice guy

I use to visit my friend’s house in 2005 and he use to play W:ET we were like 11 or something back then. I never had a computer so I always loved to watch him play or play here and there at his house. Then after receiving my own computer in 2008 :stuck_out_tongue: I downloaded W:ET and played it since then until now with on and off breaks. Been into ETPRO the whole time since 2010 playing competitively, etc. Now beloved ET seems dead and Dirty Bomb is the only closest game to it so I purchased this game couple days a go and got the key yesterday. However, I get like 30-45 fps on lowest settings.

(Attackmack) #392

I used to pug RTCW and ET back in the days, but never played competetive.
But i used to wish that i had a clan to join, as i listened to TsN shoutcasts and watched their vidcasts of RTCW/ET games.

Im eager to see where this evolves and what becomes of it, hopefully we will relive in some way at least a little bit of the former glory of online gaming.
Proud to now be a part of the testers as i received my key today!

(Ch4mpixx) #393

Hi there, florian, 24 years old, French. In game i’m Ch4mpixx, i’m not a huge FPS player, mostly play quake live and css. Few years ago i’ve try ET and i imediatly fall in love with the teamplay and the fact there’s objective in a fps game. But that was a small closed community with only initiate players, hard for a beginer and the start of dota2 beta make me stop ET here. A month ago visiting a freind who just recive his alpha key i’ve test dirty bomb, apres few map I did not want to let go of the keyboard, same felings about ET. So let’s frag. CU in game

(n4ts) #396

Hi guys I’m NATS,
I’ve been playing games since the 90ties. Lots of them were overall favorites like Wolf 3d, Doom, Jazz Jack Rabbit, etc.
After that I’ve played games like Unreal Tournament, Quake and Warcraft 3.
In the beginning of 2004 I found Wolf:ET which became my all time favorite game, even still today.

With Dirty Bomb, I hope Splash Damage will make similar gameplay as Wolf:ET in a new style ofcourse.
Yesterday I’ve played DB for the first time, and I must say that I have lots of idea’s for it. (Even though I love the gameplay already)

Speak to y’all later!

(Ashog) #397

Hi!

if you have the ideas, feel free to post them in general DB forum.

(C0l0n) #398

Just bought the legendary pack. Wolf ET player for many years. 2003/2004 to now really, but I haven’t been in comp in 7 years or so. Looking forward to seeing everyone in the closed alpha.

(bitTter) #399

Heyho guyz,
i play games since aoe2 came out. w:et took my heard from the very beginning till 2008 where i decided to stop it and swaped to WoW (shame on me). in the last couple of weeks i played some W:et pubs again and got reminded what the one and only genre , atleast for me, is. However after that one week since i found this game i can say that im really looking foward to play it from the very beggining to the open start.
cya on the servers and in this forum ^^

(Lammert) #400

Hello everyone,

Nice to have the oppurtunity of closed Alpha (although I spended all the alloance my wife gives me :stuck_out_tongue: )

My nick is Lammert
I started in 2004 with W:ET, just for fun.
But the addiction rate went too high and I had to quit due to some personal issues.
I reinstalled it in 2010 and found a server called Dak Alchemy.
There I am a head admin now for a while.

I only play objective, since my aiming is very bad. I totally have no fragging skills.
But objective I am pretty good at.

Currently I am creating a map for W:ET with GTKRadiant. Pretty fun

There are no other games I play. Although I played Farcry 3 for a while, my fun is completely found in W:ET.
I hope to find similair atmosphere and gameplay in DB.
