Installing an extra version of ET

I wanted to watch some old v1.01 demos, but they aren’t compatible with 1.02, so I have to install another one.

Is there anything special I should do after that? Tampering with the register? Could there be complications?

I’ve been able to play 1.0 demos with 1.02 by simply changing the extention to .dm_83. There are some problem (incorrect sounds for some weapons if I remember correctly) but it should work.

Shouldn’t be any complication with a second install (shortcuts may be overwritten, but that’s easy to fix).

i have 3 installs of the game on my comp - no problems yet

All you need to do is remove pak1 from etmain afaik to take it back to initial version. 1 update means 1 new pak. :slight_smile:

Except the update changes mp_bin.pk3 and et.exe as well as some other files.
