(=DaRk=CrAzY-NuTTeR) #1

guys, i have a belkin 54G wireless card thats surposed to connect to my wirless station downstairs, but lately it hasnt been conecting, BUT my sister who has the exact same card as me can connect to it, my wireless card might be damaged i thought but it can connect to the wireless nextdoor (i wouldnt mind but i cant get anything of the local server and my ping in RTCW sux ass) im CERTAIN it should be able to, but the @*~#ing thing dosnt

plz help :frowning:

(puubert) #2

Shouldn’t you search the Belkin website, email them with this question, or post it on their forums, instead of here? This problem has ZERO to do with ET.

(=DaRk=CrAzY-NuTTeR) #3

so?!?!?!

i cant connect to the server so i cant e-mail them, i need the server, and i dont think they have forums

(puubert) #4

This is not a general help forum, SO, I think it’s unreasonable to ask questions entirely unrelated to ET.

A little self-initiative and 2 minutes in Google would have netted you

and you could have been on your merry way.

(=DaRk=CrAzY-NuTTeR) #5

yeah i tried that and i couldnt find the problem, i also tried the windows help thing, that was no help either, i tried pressing the repair button and that didnt work either, dose it really matter that much if it has anything to do with ET, it lags me like hell, there, something ET related

(puubert) #6

Indirectly related to ET. The problem has nothing to do with ET itself.

Did you try;

Or

I’d assume 98% of people here use a direct connection to their computer, and maybe 5% of the people who do use wireless would use Belkin. It’s like looking for the answer to a phyics problem on a history forum. Someone might know, but you’re better off looking at a physics forum. I wouldn’t hold your breath if you’re waiting for someone to post up the perfect solution to your problem here. I’ve set you on the path, it’s up to you.

Christ m8 RTFM.

Use your head. The cards not working but it can connect to next doors wireless? For starters, tell your neighbours to lock there network… its stupid having it open/roaming in the first place. 2nd, uninstall the card (Add/Remove Programs) and remove it from your system… check ALL your settings on the Access Point/Router making sure its setup correctly and your sisters is fine. Basically, is Net connected through it… are printers sharing fine? are files sharing fine? and so on. THEN, install the card drivers, install the card to system, reboot and follow the instructions… its not a case of just clicking the repair button.

Also, read up on ways to improve the signal strength etc…

Ps, Belkin do some decent stuff but imo there wireless gear is pants. I use there stuff at home and although I can now maintain full 54mb connection it loves to just randomly drop as well as interfere with me Belkin Bluetooth USB dongle…

Does your sister’s machine still connect When it’s in the same place as yours? From your description, it seems like a problem in the radio path between your machine and the access point. Your neighbour’s access point is obviously in a better location to pick up your signal.
Radio at that frequency is very tempremental. Even moving the machine a few millimetres could drastically change the signal strength.

Did you move anything just before it started going wrong?

(=DaRk=CrAzY-NuTTeR) #9

no, it turned out the options where wrong, the network key, its fixed, thanks every1 who didnt flame me and gave a toss, unlike puubert

(puubert) #10

I flamed, but i found you the perfect place to ask for help, fool.

AND THE IDIOT ADMITS

(pgh) #13

Lock up those AOL Kiddies!!

(=DaRk=CrAzY-NuTTeR) #14

sorry officer :frowning: ill never do it again, and never will i use AOL, never!!!

(evilsock) #15

Are you saying you can get a connection to your neighours WiFi rig? um, that’s rocks tbh - see if it’ll give you a DHCP assigned standard M$ networking IP address (192.168.110.x.) or even pre-assign one yourself.

Could be that they are sharing their internet connection and you could use that as a proxy for hacking, or download stuff whilst your playing ET without it hampering your own connection.

:open_mouth: can’t believe that tbh

(=DaRk=CrAzY-NuTTeR) #16

the connection is crappy anyway, i mean, its like a 56k, but worse :frowning: , ill tell them to lock up

ahh hell i can live with it

oh and i can download my files to the server, so my ET wont get interupted at all, but i dont think i can connect to more than 1 wireless connection

(pgh) #17

What ya need is a dog food tin transmitter/reciever on yer roof… thatll help the signal.

evilsock: The wireless gear sorts all of the addressing out itself. Its basically plug and play.

(=DaRk=CrAzY-NuTTeR) #18

ok, BTW its my naibour that lives next door (its a friggin big house tho) so the tin can mightt not make much difference anyway, but ill try it

(deception5) #19

If you can connect to your neighbor’s wireless network but not the one in your own house, you might want to make sure you don’t have mac address filtering enabled on yours…
