info about weapon skins

So its basically kinda similar to loadout situation.

Weapon skins come in Cases, similar to the Cases we have in the store currently. There are two types of Weapon Cases in Dirty Bomb; locked and unlocked.

Locked Cases drop very occasionally in-game in the post match screen. To open these Cases you will need to buy a key from the store (USD $2.49). Unlocked Cases can be purchased in the store for USD $4.99.

Keys will also be purchasable during Nuclear Winter for event currency. We will be offering more ways to get weapon skins in the future.

Can I borrow Stoker’s molotov, just in case I’ll think of burning own bridge?

Sure, might be just skins… for now.

But if you ever gimp the acquiring of loadout sets with RNG…

I’ve lost all interest in them now, but thank the whales for enabling all of this.

So it’s 2.50 for 1 key, that will unlock 1 case that will contain 1 skin for 1 random weapon that can be applied to a single loadout card?
Oh yes, I’ve been waiting for this… yup, it’s all I’ve ever dreamed of…

Why did I not expect to be disappointed…

I hope its attached to a weapon not to loadout card.

3 rarities, and a bunch of sub rarities, if I read that correctly… All RNG, and mostly paid only. Even the SLOTS cost credits.
I mean, I guess it’s nice to have the option, and id rather it be there than not be there. Its not like we’re forced to use it after all, but I wish it was implemented differently. My excitement dropped from 100 to like, 10 just reading that.

Devs even said read all the way to the bottom. I was hoping it would somehow get better, but eh >.>
All I’m gonna say is, I really hope the keys aren’t rediculously expensive in this event.

No neato weapon skins for me. I didn’t pay for TF2 keys, I ain’t payin for DB keys.

Yeah, I wish they didn’t use a key system for this. Something that 900 games already do. I’d rather have something more unique to DB.

Yeah for example key cards.

I was hoping it will be more like equipment cases and no floats. But seeing it will be like in csgo with float values and 2.5$ for a key on top of the RNG, kinda ruined the excitement.

I mean like ingame cases that have a low chance to contain good skins with like 80% chance to include lead/iron tier skins (like equipment cases but with skins) and the cases available in store with higher rarity skins (like elite cases but with skins) and having a letter A-E, each case containing skins only for a specific weapon type (A will include only assault rifle skins, B SMG skins, C sniper rifles, D secondary weapons and E for melee weapons).

I hope they still consider changing it. Dirty Bomb is not csgo, keys don’t belong here and we don’t need weapon floats. Making all cases unlocked and all skins instantly factory new will fit DB a lot more. There is no reason for skin cases to be any different from loadout cases, other than maybe making it so new players (under level 15 maybe) will have a higher chance to get equipment cases instead of skin cases so they can focus on getting bronze cards first.

(TheStrangerous) #10

Least make default skinned, 3 augmented loadouts and cheaper to buy with in game credits. Just to please loadout enthusiasts like me.

There used to be bronze bundles, costing 100 000 each merc. But since their removal, it’s unfortunately cheaper to craft them, as opposed to buying them separately.

What did you guys actually expect when they announced weapon skins really ? Something like this was totally expectable.

(B_Montiel) #12

What a timely addition with everything surrounding the battlefront 2 drama.

Since some European governments are already digging into gambling within video games, they should only support the selling/trading of cases. If you can sell items directly (thus potentially making more bucks than the cost of a key), this definitely becomes another story.

The way it was talked about in the video made it seem like it was pretty much just the same as the loadouts system.
Sure, it wasn’t expected regardless, but I don’t see why it isn’t just the loadouts system instead of copying other games.

I was expecting they’ll do something original and new, not something that numerous games already have done and are still doing. A system like @frostyvampire detailed seem way better. But we all see where SD wants to go : as soon as the steam market will be able, you’ll have the same things you already have for CS:GO.

If i read between the lines, only locked cases can drop after a match, requiring you to buy a key in the store to open it.
Unlocked cases can only be purcheasable in store.

Another point that is not detailed : Does a skin lose “finish” by playing with it ? Let’s say i get a Pristine weapon skin. I play with this skin for 20 hours. Will it stay Pristine or can it drop to Worn ?

Also, i don’t understand their tier system. What’s the difference between bronze, silver, gold and cobalt tier, and CoreSec, KMA and Royal Force skins ? Does it mean i can only equip a weapon skin that is the same tier as the merc loadout card i’m using ?(EDIT, by re-reading the FAQ, it doesn’t seem to be that way) And how “do we choose” between those 3 dealers ?

Now we can all say for sure the Jackal’s Eve case will be rng. I hope i won’t get a FEL-IX skin…

PS : Did someone figured the Royal Force logo is quite similar to the Pirin Medical logo ?

If these practices persist, SD absolutely needs to enable trading and more ways to break down/recycle our current cards. Nothing we spend money on has any remote sense of a tangible value; it’s all cosmetic gambling. Implementing trading and recycling will increase the value of an item and reward those who are willing to throw money at RNG. Even if you fail to get what you want, you may be able to trade or break it down into another form of currency that can be used towards another attempt at what you’d like.

It has to be done. These models are not sustainable long-term with small playerbases. I’d rather them ditch the free-to-play and charge a mid-level price for the game than this crap at this point. I’ve been patient for a long time, but it’s really getting discouraging.

@imLegal what would you like me to do, there’s no delete so edit is best available, YOU ARE BEING ABUSIVE @Eox

Which I think is a good thing. So the game drops stuff I don’t care about which I can (eventually) sell on the Steam market, making a few cents per junk box. If I can’t be bothered with the market, I can turn boxes into fragments.

Some people will actually like the boxes and buy keys for them. Which in turn gives money to SD, which hopefully keeps the game economically viable for a long time to come.

(FalC_16) #18

Hate to see RNG being again involved with real cash. I am actually a good customer when it comes to buying stuff when I know what exactly I am getting. I was hoping for the same with skins. Why cant they just follow path of exile model is beyond me.

Holy shit, what is Splash Damage’s damage?!

What most players wanted was for skins to be separated from loadouts. Why? To REDUCE RNG because the loadout system involved lots and lots and lots of RNG and most players did not like it. Shocking, I know.

So Splash Damage decides to address this issue by… ADDING RNG?! Sure, now you can pick your gun skin, but you still can’t pick your characters skin, and why incorporate weapon skin quality? That’s completely needless. And why require a key to open a box? I fucking spent YEARS telling people, “Hey, Dirty Bomb is pretty good! You don’t need keys to open crates!” and now you fucking pull this dumbshit what the fuck.

I can’t even… I don’t even know if Splash Damage knows what they’re doing; oh wait, cash monies. Probably why they’re caving into Hanzo memes. Unfortunately, that doesn’t explain why Splash Damage decided adding a bunch of horizontal recoil to a bunch of guns i.e., adding more RNG to the singularly most important aspect of the game, the actual gameplay, was a good idea.

And for all the peeps going, “look at me, I’m so smart I understand economics cause I figured out this new system lets Splash Damage earn more monies to make a better game…” Take your pants off your head for a moment cause there are other ways to monetize Dirty Bomb: more trinkets, voice packs, cosmetic patches / badges, actual merchandise ( shirts, mugs, artbooks, Nendoroids ), skins ( when separated from loadouts ), etc.

Fix the crafting system that was randomly ruined for no reason at all, then promised to be fixed 1.5 years ago? LOL NO!

Fix / create solution for paying customers having 50+ useless / obsolete SE cards in their inventory, something that has been asked for for 1.5+ years? LOL NO!

Add more RNG that nobody has asked for, at all? YEP!
