[INCOMING RANT] Do People Know What "Don't Be a Dick" Means?!?!?!?!

(SpinnerzNQ) #1

Incoming whiny baby Spinnerz.
Y’know what I hate? People. Especially in this game. People can literally screw a game just by being a dick in crucial moments. For example (which happened like 5 minutes ago) my team and I were defending the Drug Room on the last objective of Bridge. We were doing good, about 3 minutes left in the match and no objective delivered. Unfortunately, we didn’t have an ammo station, because I nor my teammates had Kira or Stoker. So one of our Auras had to switch to Skyhammer (luckily, wasn’t some noob, just happened to have the defaulters in his squad) and the other Aura was… a dick. So instead of putting the Aura station in the spot that LITERALLY EVERY AURA PUTS THE AURA STATION IN BECAUSE IT IS THE BEST SPOT AND ONLY GOOD SPOT TO PUT IT IN, he puts in between a window and a doorway closes to the front door! So the entire team had to cluster into an orgy around that aura station to get heals, and, of course, the opposing team easily mowed us down, grabbed the objective, and delivered. Then they did it again in like 30 seconds. Now, that is usually a noob mistake, understandable. But this guy was like a level 8, so he should somewhat know what he’s doing, right? NOPE! I told him, before all Hell broke loose, something like “that is a bad bad bad idea” and then me and him died while I typed. And he said, oh get this, he said “well too bad”. I almost went all one-inch punch on my computer screen because we immediately lost because of that. I said “See, that’s called being a dickhead. You should stop that.” and he retaliated in the most idiotic response of “well I just saw 4 people hold them off (as we were immediately dying and losing) so it clearly worked. you shouldn’t tell people how to play. THAT’S called being a dickhead. dickhead”. I paraphrased as accurate as possible on that as I could. I explained that we could all die from one grenade because it was basically a clusterfck. And he said “Maybe, but not that time”. Then I promptly left the lobby. And before you say “well you can’t call a noob a dick, he didn’t know better” I’m not calling him a dick for badly placing the Aura station. I’m calling him a dick for KNOWING it’s a bad spot, and still leaving it there for our team to get stomped on.
Of course, not the only thing I have to complain about because I’m like the King of Whining.
I remember like a month or two ago this guy decided "You know what? F
ck everyone!" and on Bridge he took the objective and ran ALL THE WAY TO THE AMMO BOX ON THE TRAINTRACKS ON THE BRIDGE. And just left it there. And he camped there and picked it up and put it down constantly so it wouldn’t reset. Of course I tried to grab it, but he glitched it into the ammo box somehow and I couldn’t grab it. I kinda lost it. I tried to kick him and FOR SOME REASON PEOPLE NEVER KICK THE PERSON WHO NEEDS TO BE KICKED SO BADLY SO WE CAN WIN! I don’t understand that at all! Everyone knows that if they don’t kick this guy, we lose because he’s being a dick. But for some reason, they never do! Needless to say, we lost.
To finish up this rant/whine/whatever the hell us you wanna call it, I’m just gonna say I know that no matter how hard we try, we can’t just stop trolls and dickheads. They’re gonna be there and gonna keep dicking around just to piss people off. But hopefully some dickhead will read this one day and be like “Y’know what? Maybe people do have feeling. Maybe people do wanna win this game, because winning is fun. Maybe I shouldn’t be a dickhead.” And maybe they’ll stop. Wishful thinking right?

That’s what happens when your game is free.

Well actually it still happens in paid games, but no price attracts dicks more.

That sounds dirty (pun somewhat intended)

More seriously, the first situation you listed didn’t even seem very dickish on the aura’s part. If anything, the aura was just annoyed that you were telling them how to play the game. They weren’t doing anything wrong, and the situation only really arose because you had a problem with how well they were playing. Quite honestly, you were being the dick in that situation.

The second situation is just a troll. The winning move is just to leave, you’re really just feeding the troll by letting them get under your skin. If the vote to kick failed the first time, it makes no sense to stick around if it’s bothering you that badly. He may be a dick for trolling, but trolling only works if you react the way the troll wants you to, which is stick around and be subjected to his trolling. Trolls get bored when they don’t elicit a reaction.

It’s definitely not enjoyable to lose, but it’s really out of your control to directly change their behavior. You can really only change how you react to it. You really don’t lose anything but time when you lose anyways, and you should be ready to have time wasted when you play any sort of game.

No no, you see, he did that before I even did anything to him. I never even said anything before he did that. That’s like someone punching me in the face for no reason and me saying “Hey you shouldn’t do that! Don’t be a dick!” then that guy saying “Well you’re a dick for telling me what to do.” Then you saying “Well you’re a dick for telling him what to do even though you didn’t affect him.”

well, i might as well also rant a little.

It was on bridge last objective.I was the only defender staying inside the lab ,preventing the objective being taken as a pheonix.Calling my teammates to stay in the lab as they were doing jackshit outside, they were dying and dying, not able to stop even a few people.at the end ,we of course lose and i type in the chat “why wont you guys just stay in the lab?” one guy replied:"because the objective was outside?are you fucking retarded?don’t blame your stupidity on your teammates."Well, i clearly saw the objective being taken infront of my eyes, while i was laying down on the ground after being gunned down by multiple enemies with no teammates around me.Either he’s really stupid to intepret me as saying “when the objective was outside, you guys must stay inside” or really moronic as to thinking the objective was outside the whole time.I raged quitted after seeing the scoreboard

I’m assuming you’re talking about the aura situation. You never mention the aura saying anything, just placing the station in a position you believe to be sub-optimal. The first mention of any interaction between you two in chat is you telling them “that is a bad bad bad idea”. The player probably interpreted that as you telling them how to play aura, and brushed you off. Probably not the best response, because you clearly misinterpreted them as being deliberately a dick. And it escalated from there.

From my perspective, it looks like you’re being the bigger dick, because the entire situation arose from you essentially critiquing another person’s play.

So me saying “that’s a bad idea” makes me a dick? I didn’t say “You’re an idiot for placing it there”. I said that’s a bad idea. HE’S the one who decided to escalate the situation by being a dick about it. It’s not like I’m the only one he affected by placing the health station in a bad spot, he affected the entire team and caused us to lose. That’s called being a dick, there’s no if, ands, or buts about it. If he had just said “My bad dude, didn’t realize that was a bad spot.” then I would’ve still been a bit upset but I would’ve understood that it was an honest mistake. He “started it” by putting the Aura station in a bad spot. He clearly started being a dick by saying “it works for me” as in himself. If he had said “it works for us” it would’ve been a different situation.
And it wasn’t my “belief” that the position was “sub-optimal”, it was my knowledge because he put the aura station in a spot that caused us to lose. When the Aura station was in the other spot we were winning, when he put the aura station in that spot we started losing. That aura station caused a downward spiral of “Holy crap I thought we were winning, why are we suddenly getting are asses kicked?” I’m not saying he’s a dick for putting the aura station in a bad spot, I’m saying he’s a dick for putting it in a bad spot and then selfishly saying that this spot “works” and causing us to lose. And still stubbornly trying to defend his bad decision as if I’m the bad guy for saying “Hey that’s a bad idea” when it clearly was a bad idea.

(SpinnerzNQ) #12

@Dog and before this turns into some kind of argument I’m just gonna say, I appreciate you telling me something I should hear instead of what I want to hear. But I still believe that I was indeed the victim and he was the perpetrator, and I’d like to leave it at that. There isn’t much you could say to me to convince me that I’m wrong in this situation, because I’m just stubborn like that.

assuming OP wasnt as ragey as he came off in the first situation, the aura was a dick. not a HUGE dick, but a small dick.

if I was playing aura when i first started playing and someone said “Hey ballto, that med stations poorly placed, move it back” i, and so should everyone else whos not really sure, would move it back, assuming the guy talking seemed to know what he was talking about.

But, if someone just said “JESUS YOU SHITTER AURA WHERE THE FUCKS THE MED STATION FOLLOW AND REVIVE ME SHIT FUCKING MEDIC VOTEKICK”, or something equally dumb and ragey, you should proceed to continue to annoy him into a rage quit

giving someone gameplay advice isnt a dick move so long as youre polite about it, which as far as i can tell OP was the first time

if you cant take advice from other players on your gameplay, you will never get better and probably be pretty unhelpful to the team

Meh, it happens, I’m not a great Vasilli but I guess 1/6 of my shots is a heashot and 3/6 are hits, using an impractical FEL-IX loadout, I’d use him more since I’ve actually started to get used to him but sadly we get 2-3 Vasillis per team ever now and then that can only hit once a blue moon and don’t even know the beat sensor exists.

Happy it isn’t like one of my cases where someone went around not reviving people since they’re the “n-word chick” and would only revive white guys and rather than kicking one guy for being an asshole the rest of my team just went on complaining about him being a racist dick.

Tell me about it @Ballto I had a game where a guy went on, writing in all caps constantly because I used my mic. what did I do? I told him to stand still for a sec so I could direct hit him with a health pack.

(Izzy) #16

Is it just me or did the OP say that a level 8 isn’t a noob. Imo you re no longer a noob starting from lvl 25, when you start to have some consistency in your game play. And that is why I still consider myself has a noob as sometimes I just don’t care enough an make incredibly stupid thing. Lastly you can’t call a noob a dick as he might just not know.

Rant thread? Cool.

Here goes.
The other day I was put on one of the worst teams I’ve ever seen.
They were mostly under level 10, so it’s somewhat understandable, but that’s still no excuse for having the reflexes of a goddamn potato.
I was spectating 3 different players, throughout the match, every time I was downed, and these people literally stopped in their tracks for half a second, before every time they were about to shoot.
Their aim was all over the fucking place, it’s like they were those fools that buy the latest Razer mice and crank the DPI to the max, because they’ve fallen victim to shitty marketing.
One of these simpletons would cry “Mehdiiik” in voice chat, whenever he was downed, in this annoying as f voice, that I assume belonged to an 11 year old.
There was only one decent player on the team next to me, but that wasn’t enough to hold the defense.
The rest of the team were completely oblivious about how the map is played, or how the objectives should be defended.
Still, the WORST offender in this match, was a stoker, who would never place an ammo station, no matter how much you v22’d, or called him a worthless dickhead asked him nicely in the team chat.
In fact, nobody seems to want to play support classes in Dirty Bomb in the first place, but nobody really seems to want to play medics either, and I can only fill one position at a time.
Everyone is too busy being completely useless as a pure damage dealer merc, which they can’t play in the slightest.

FUCK SHIT FUCK

I played an Execution match yesterday.
Mind you that was on a minimum 10 server.
A new round started and a team-mate couldn’t move (that’s a bug that occured to me as well).
He says he can’t move.
A guy starts a vote kick against him because he’s afk.
The mate again says he can not move but it’s too late already.
The vote passes.

And I’m like.
Why.
Just. Why.

And here you’ve learned a hard lesson that IQ doesn’t level up with ingame Level. And also, remember that the lvl10- guys you were disregarding a month ago are now all 10+.

Only one way to deal with it is to make your own friend group you can trust. Or join the official DB discord which so far seems to be dumbass-free (I mean, except for me but that’s others problem, not mine, right?)

(DMaster2) #20

Level 8? You are lucky he puts down the healing station. I’ve seen level 8 in my team that don’t drop ammo no matter how much you shout in front of him (skyhammer) and don’t revive you even if you are near (aura).
You could’ve been less “professorish”. Telling something like “please put the station inside the drug room (or whatever it’s called) so we can defend more easily” would’ve probably do a better job in giving him the hint that the station was placed badly. If you point out the mistake he might take it badly and react the way he did.

What i hate the most is tryhard idiots that bash me because i want to play Vassili (or Redeye) in casual.
