inactivity

This happened for the second time to me.

I was hidden by the roof door waiting for the cov ops to come by…
unfortunatelly he kept on being killed on his way over…

so … after a loongish while the server kicked me out for innactivity.

Is there a way to prevent that ?

I mean - i won’t be running around just to stay connected, this is the point of being hidden - to not to be detected…

I was sending messages and voice chats while doing this and it seems it didn’t help (still got kicked)

i was also moving my mouse left and right but didn’t actually move my “body”

(i was behind the desk, that’s pretty tight corner so moving around can tip the axis)

one of the solutions i’ve thought of is to have a “ping” command so you can stay put and just send “pings” to the server to show that u are still by the computer and waiting.

This is an issue related to the server’s settings. The server administrator can up the g_inactivity setting so that this wouldnt take place in a normal round, but apparently it was set low on the server you were playing on. This is done so that people cant just idle in a game round after round and prevent others from joining a full server.

I’d suggest that while you are waiting, move a little bit so that the game acknowledges you

Sure, there is a very simple way to prevent getting kicked by “g_inactivity”. Move. It’s not hard the game comes with key bindings and most players these days have mice connected to their puters.

(Note: you usually get a 10 second warning – this is when you make your move)

hmm… i;ve never seen any warning, just a message 1 sec before disconnect (“disconnected due to innactivity”)

and my point is that i did move. i moveswith a mouse (look left, look right), just not move forward/backwards/sidewise

i was alsto sending messages and using voicechat

i would think that that would be enough ??? (obviously it isn’t)

FallenMatt: It is not enough no. The ticker doesn’t stop until you actually move forward/backward or left/right. Turning around, firing, hitting binds etc etc does nothing.
I run into it occasionally when I play MG42 soldier and the FieldOps keep me loaded so there’s no reason for me to move. It’s an annoyance to get up and move an inch yeah, but it also reminds me that after 10 minutes perhaps I should move around a bit and give people a chance to kill me

oh dear, you can only camp without any movement for ten minutes, shooting counts as movement afaik. its hard for me to picture someone playing but not moving or shooting for ten minutes, kinda boring eh? solution? have fun instead.
