really liked those
oops, posted this in wrong thread at first:
Wow, there is a BRINK raffle today on the ESL Intel Friday Night Games in Germany. They just advertised it on stage (with two nice chics in blue BRINK shirts, do want!). This is very nice since the Intel Friday Night Games are one of the most important e-sport events for Germany with a big live crowd and a lot of online viewers
Gogo Bethesda, this is really targetting the right people to make BRINK a proper esport title
That Ars Technica is going to give Brink a lot of wonderful exposure! WOOT!

This is an incredible read!
Confirmation question: (For 360 version) Can we turn off all the Bots so that we can just walk around the levels studying the architecture and looking for discoverables unmolested?
Ed Stern: A lot of this came from the ship wrecking beaches in Bangladesh, where they pull the beached tankers apart by hand. It’s like finding dinosaur bones – and that’s such a potent story of how these futuristic ships didn’t save us, that wasn’t enough.
Ed and Olivier, tell me you like Mark Knopfler.
…They pull out her cables and hack off her hatches
too poor to be wasteful with pity or time
they swarm on her carcass with torches and axes
like a whale on a bloody shore line
stripped of her pillars, her stays and her stanchions
when there’s only her bones on the wet poison land
steel ropes will drag her with winches and engines
’til there’s only a stain on the sand

what’s the url of the stream to view online?
You can find the stream or VODs of ESL at www.esl.tv. But Intel Friday Night Games are Live Events in German cause there are games from the German EPS League being played

One of the few people who didn’t like it that I have seen/heard a preview from. I am sure his points will come up in some reviews. This kind of strikes me as the “I don’t really like team shooters” guy complaining “the AI wasn’t supporting me enough”. At this point people are very used to being “THE guy” in shooter campaigns so they will expect everything to revolve around them, Master Chief style. When it doesn’t people may get frustrated with the game rather than adjust and consider themselves an equal member of a team, which is how the game is designed to be played. It will be interesting to see if this perspective becomes a general complaint at some point.
I can see what you are saying but the reporter came across as feeling really bad about saying these things about the game. Also mentioned the game was slow, not great looking, got boring really fast and unpolished. Like I said he was almost apologetic when saying this as he was aware how many people are anticipating this game release. I really hope he is wrong.

I’m not a raging fanboy, although i love the **** out of SD and I havent been dissapointed by any of their games so far… but I just hate the tone of this guy from the beginning. The whole conversation just seemed to be between people that don’t understand what BRINK is going for.
An argument can be made that some people new to this game will get that exact feeling as these “journalists” and feel lost, I guess.
The only thing they said that actually DID make me worrisome was the “unpolished” feeling of the game. I keep getting that same feeling from some of the animation that seems very rough, like when people get shot down they just seem to fall really awkwardly and stiff. The same thing for the gun sway, it looks weird to me personally. While watching all the videos I’ve been hoping these things are just a bit old and have been refined a bit.
Showing Brink next to Rage isn’t going to make anyone think it is a graphical powerhouse.
Brink is looking solid graphically but Rage may be the best looking console game I have ever seen in motion. When you go to a preview and they show them both it makes Brink look weaker by comparison (in the graphics department).
You never know, he definitely had some down points on his mind that are hard to explain away. Hopefully this doesn’t turn into one of those games that suffers in reviews because people get so over-hyped for they feel let down by whatever is delivered when they finally play it because they were hoping for too much. If people hear how awesome it is in previews then don’t like it that much they can turn on it quick.
When they talk about Brink, is basically sounds like “I/we didn’t like the game that much, because it wasn’t like what I’m used to playing and I wasn’t that good at it.”
