I enjoyed it, close the brain off (but look for the hidden plot) and you’ll enjoy it. Seems most reviewers are looking at the flashy (and fleshy) effects and not getting the story, so taking it at face value.

Apparently I’m very bad at turning my brain off. Either I find logical flaws (within the artificial movie logic, even) and complain about them, MST3K the movie, or I fall asleep and have more interesting dreams. In other words, I’m not the best person to go see movies with.

I was wondering too about the the comment on AI takeover of inactive humans. Does this mean that if I stay in the game but I am AFK/AFC nothing happens ? What if I actually drop from the game will a bot still take over for me?

Not too sure if there is a timer for the AFK or you have to manually switch it on but I do know that when you drop out of the match you are indeed replaced by a bot.

RH: … So sure, some things have been dropped because of changes in design, like originally we were going to offer you bonus XP if people played online, but we decided against that because we didn’t want to punish people who couldn’t play online because they didn’t have the proper connections. Other things get dropped because we have technical troubles with implementation, like going idle in the middle of a match and letting the AI take over. It’s always heartbreaking when we have to make a cut like this, but a big part of development is taking a long hard look at the situation and making the choice that makes the game better for the most players…

Shame, would’ve been nice to have the L4D style idle mode in case you have to leave for one reason (piss) or another.

Ok, we need developer confirmation/interpretation on this one. This is important because if the bots no longer fill in vacated spots when people leave, then the problem of QUITTERS (for consoles) is back on the board. Check that quitters thread for all the reasons why it is so important that the bots fill the spots. Still big on the game, but this was a huge selling point in the list of game features.
In other news, Bethesda has posted a list of the Brink Trophies/Achievements.

You’ll definitely still get replaced by a bot when you leave, but it’ll spawn in the next wave instead of taking over your body.

They mean a bot taking over and you going idle but still staying in the game, the same as Left 4 Dead. I’m sure there will be an inactivity period where the player will just be dropped from the server completely and a bot will take over.

elevator and Dark, thanks. I will take your explanation as fact unless SD says otherwise. That is a HUGE relief. I don’t care if players have to leave the game and come back, as long as the spot isn’t just left open. “Idle” is just for convenience (and statistical continuance?) and was just a “gravy” feature. Vacated spots not being filled breaks entire rounds and is the actual steak and potatoes. The more intimate the game, the more important it is that the teams remain equal in number.

Normally, I don’t care much for the Top 10 lists, but Obnoxious Gamer compares Brink to a Guy Ritchie flick, and I have to say, “Snatch” is one of my favorite movies of all time. It sits in its case on the bookshelf by my bed…next to my BioShock Limited Edition Big Daddy. So, I have to respect that choice, the list, and the writer.

Interesting interview. Do you choose Kevlar or Kevlar Piercing Bullets? Do Kevlar Piercing Bullets do MORE damage when the enemy doesnt have a Kevlar Armour Buff? Or is it simply a buff that guarantees you default damage?

i also liked it. i feel most people like to have things explained word for word now-a-days, but sometimes you just need to sit back an take what your are given. if offers a different perspective on story telling and most people dont seem to like it. And even if you hate all that its still a lot of hot girls with guns shooting nazi zombie-like soldiers
