Yes, I’m also hoping for ingame VOIP.
Would be great to see the options above.

This would be really useful, the teamspeak is hardly ever used at the moment which is kind of frustrating.

On the other hand, VOIP in public matches of several games are instantly disabled by players - because it is most of the time abused for flaming and therefore annoying. Just look at all those steam source games, or dota2… Hardly a player’s using voip for useful information, except maybe in Russian…
My one and only good experience with ingame voip is Natural Selection 2.

Most of the time I’m in private chat with friends. We use steams built in group chat for that, works pretty well. Generally I’m just not a VOIP user unless it’s with friends… i’m a shy wee lad

Never had problems with voip, especially in ETQW where one could mute locally a desired person. VOIP is kinda must in shooter games.

Having no VOIP in a game means the game intentionally discards player communication.

We need fireteam asap, but it has to be easier to use than it was in BRINK and ET. I liked how it was for Brink, but it reset after every round, and was a pain in the ass to actually use.

for voip… if we get that. It HAS to have…

An on/off select in options
A changeable push to talk key
Player mute options
Global, team and fire team keys
And an effect that you can use to sound like Darth Vader…

Ok maybe not that last one.

I don’t use voip, as I play with friends on TS/vent… and I love the vsay keys for quick commands. ET didn’t have voip an it was a huge team game that had tonnes of players.

Should be like TF2. Automatically enabled but VERY easy to instantly disable who ever is being obnoxious. Should -not- take more than two clicks.

This and +1 for the Global, Team and FireTeam channels on different keys. Supporting third party VOIP apps would also be great, by that I mean ensure those apps are as integrated and compatible as possible.

It also needs to be noted on the scoreboard (?) who has what enabled. I’d maybe also go as far as allowing you to block players for that server session or permanently. Hopefully there will be an interface for Friends and Foes in the Launcher that also allows you to block other players more thoroughly.

And why not trying to get another route, if VOIP is used to flame, just disable global, VOIP should be used by team only to tell strategical stuff during the game, not to flame the other team, I’m still having hard time figuring out what global VOIP bring to the game…

The only global VOIP should be an option for server admin, to tell the rules and warn before a kick/ban, but that’s pretty much the only usefull use I can find for global so far…

Peace

Option for Global only for warmup and end of match or all the time. Admins of course should be able to do this whenever.

(Pytox) #12

Players can mute / ignore whoever they don’t like to hear and can only call a vote to mute global ?

(Ads913) #13

For the game to work you need at least Team Voip thats a given. With mute options.
Fireteam Voip is also a must and must be drawn in the Game Gui .
Global Voip i think is great it adds drama choas and social elements to the game.
Can the SD guys comment on Voip whats your intension etc.

(SinDonor) #14

I’d like to request a “Mute All” and “Mute ALL except Team” option for sure. I have no desire to hear a bunch of random ppl screaming “We pwned you newbs!” or “OMG, you (non-heterosexuals) are haxxing!” or hearing their horrible angst-emo-dubstep-rap music blasting in the background.

(Ashog) #15

Coward!

(DarkangelUK) #16

I hear the talk of fireteam voip and I completely understand the desire, however, the maps are really geared towards 5v5/6v6 where as the likes of ET and ETQW were for larger teams… do you think the teams would suffer by splitting people up? I don’t see why 5v5/6v6 need to have fireteams.

(Kiddspooky) #17

You need fireteams because If I join some random server with a friend, I want to be able to distinguish my friend from the others.

(SinDonor) #18

I concur. I’d like to stick with my friend or two and work together, especially if the other 2-4 people on my team are lone wolf sniper Rambos.

(stealth6) #19

I don’t see a point to fireteams in an 8v8 match. Just change the color for friend like tribes does (Solved?)

(tokamak) #20

Being able to communicate to the other team is really fun though. But yeah it takes a lot of restraint on the player’s behalf not to abuse it.
