In Game VOIP.

Never really was a fan of fireteams, don’t see the point in a 16man server, for 32+ maybe.

EDIT: What stealth6 said

For pub play sure, having sub-teams within a team that has your friends then sure, I can understand that.

The info that came with fireteams should be available to all. RtCW had info for all, position, health status… seems ETQW only gave that in the team overlay for fireteams

(Humate) #23

Assuming the fireteam be would shown on the hud, you would be able to see their - health, incapped, gibbed status.
At the moment you have to constantly press TAB to see if they are incapped or gibbed.
Given the way combat works in this game, I would say its even more valuable in this game than it was in ETQW.

(DarkangelUK) #24

I would argue that given the smaller teams that this game is aimed towards, this info should be on the HUD by default. RtCW had this info there in the default HUD, I can only assume it was removed in ET and ETQW due to the large team sizes and the amount of HUD real estate it would take up including everyone in that box.

Just think of it this way - would be funny if there were no fireteam feature in a game on the logo of which the word Fireteam stands… Would be absurd, right?

(Kiddspooky) #26

If for nothing else, do it as brink did. All that needs to be done is to make the names on your fireteam show as bold and coloured purple.

(stlava) #27

Yeah the key thing with in game voip is it needs to be very very simple to enable/disable/use. No laundry list of settings. Also, it needs to use a decent sound codec. It shouldn’t sound like people are transmitting from the moon or under water.

You sir are a star ★★★★★

(Shiv) #31

For the voip and talking to friends, why not just have voip options of
All muted
Friends only
global

?
With some fast options for muting morons if its on global.

(Mustang) #32

I would imagine it to make more sense to sort out how fireteams are going to be implemented first.

(Bloodbite) #33

Voip should be completely designed to cater for competitive use with a server option/filter to have it on or off.

Global voiping can be useful for those that want to analyse a map and strategies, but otherwise… if you want to socialise through chat. Go play world of warcraft, the greatest 20+gb chat client ever made.
