In game spawn timer?

(Gump) #1

Is there some sort of spawn timer you can turn on to show the time till spawn.

I was on a server, and this one player had an annoying ability to toss an airstrike canister on the ground before us a split-second before we spawned. The invincibility timer would wear off right as the airstrike hit. It was almost impossible to get free of it, due to the usual log-jam of one guy stopping in front of the line.

Did he have something turned on that I’m not aware of, or was he some freakish player that keeps a stopwatch at his side while he plays?

He also had the annoying ability to up and die right as you were in the process of mowing him down with your smg!

It’s quite easy to work out a teams spawn time once you’ve seen them spawn.

On most maps, Axis spawn every 30 secs and allies every 20 secs. So, if you see axis run out of spawn at say 21:03 [edit: on the game clock which counts down backwards] then you know they’ll be every xx:03 and xx:33 from now until the end of the match. As a field op, if you toss an airstrike cannister 2 secs before the spawn (in this case every xx:05 and xx:35) then the airstrike will fall exactly at the same time the invulnerability wears off (assuming it to be standard 3 secs).

There’s no big science to it

There’s no “in-game” enemy spawn time counter built in and to have a 3rd party program running within the game would be considered cheating.

If you are too lazy/forgetful you can get 3rd party external programs to let you know when the enemies spawn is - these depend on the user observing one of the spawns and hitting a special key to start the clock then an audible alert is made each time they spawn.

They’ve been around on RTCW for a while now and there are a few being converted to ET - aslong as the external program does NOT interact with RTCW/ET in any way then they are considered legal

you can turn on a spawn timer of your own team in the options and then, as blade mentioned, calculate the difference.

"/kill"ers are lame!

Hm this is pretty hard to do with a 20 sec and a 30 sec counter, how do you calculate that? Usefull though on railgun where both spawns are 20 sec. In other cases, use the general timer.

Duh, I feel stupid! :moo:

Why are external spawntimer programs considered cheating?

(Stee) #8

Who’s said that?

(BondyBoy007) #9

They’re not, who said that they are?

So where can I download a spawn timer? Has anyone actually used one on ET? I don’t play FOP much, but it would be a definite advantage to know the enemy spawn times.

Apologies if i have misunderstood what you’ve typed but this seems to say you consider them cheating :stuck_out_tongue:

If you just read what It said underneath that. :stuck_out_tongue:
