Title pretty much says it all. I want to know how to get headshots from hipfire more consistently.
If someone could give me some advice and practice routines to do, I would much appreciate them.

I’m not the best player, but there honestly isn’t anything else you can do to improve besides setting the right settings and turning the sensitivity lower in-game (unlike other FPS). As most players say, just practice
Pretty much this, practice should be your main concern.
Things like making your cross hair simply a dot on the screen or small circle so it’s easier to keep it on the enemy head.
Or you can trying increasing your FOV which helps with CQC.
Alright, advice heeded. Can any of you tell me how to alter my crosshair’s color/shape? Thanks guys!
I’d recommend using mumble overlay crosshairs until they come out with some more crosshairs in game. The ones in game just don’t cut it as far as I’m concerned.
To change your crosshair color, go in game, pause, click the GAME tab, adjust your colors from there.
Figuring out what you think works best for you, getting comfortable with it and then practicing with intent as opposed to mindlessly playing is easily the best advice I have to offer. Watch known good players and how they play and emulate it. That’s how I catch up on any game quickly but it’s especially useful in FPS games.
I’d definitely recommend trying low sensitivity to the point that you use your arm to move your mouse instead of your wrist if you aren’t already doing that. It helps keep you from over-aiming and you can more easily make small corrections easily without losing any speed. I also practice 180 degree swipes both ways so that I can quickly do a full rotation and acquire a target and it also lets me set my sensitivity in any game and on any PC in seconds.
I also tend to shoot for the shoulders and let recoil ride into headshots or make adjustments if I know they won’t move. My logic with that, for DB, is some people like to crouch and this makes them duck into headshots. And if they don’t duck either natural recoil rides into headshots or I adjust for them. And if they jump I also don’t lose damage. Basically, almost any gun in the game, if you hit all your bullets, will kill in about a second without any headshots on a majority of mercs. If you go headhunting only you’ll get some fast kills but you’ll also miss a lot more due to variable strafing speed of mercs and different strafing styles that can throw a player off. Sure, if you have an open headshot take it obviously but otherwise my opinion is stick to the shoulder area or just below for Dirty Bomb. It’s a different story for a game like CS though.
Also, I know a lot of people recommend a dot but I use the crosshair with lines because it too is just a dot but it also has a line I can use to more easily try and keep center mass. I barely pay attention to the dot when firing and mostly rely on where the crossbar is. Particularly the bar pointed down as i try to keep that in the middle of a model. But that is totally a preference thing and I could probably play just as well with a dot only (which I’ve done in other games).
Good luck!

I don’t have enough space but I’ll definitely try that when I get the opportunity
I would recommend getting yourself a nice cloth mousepad with enough room to move your sens around. I have the most popular steelseries one. Then move your mouse pointer speed in the Windows settings to the 6/11 configuration to turn off any sort of acceleration. Then just find a sens that works for you. I personally run on 6.2 @ 400 DPI, which is really slow, but I land very consistent headshots.
After a certain point, I would look into investing in a 144Hz monitor. That will be my next upgrade and I know it will help a lot. It makes the game a hell of a lot smoother and eliminates some of the innate motion blur you get from 60Hz monitors. Just make sure you can run the game at a consistent 160fps before dropping any money on one. I have been benchmarking all of today to make sure I can meet that threshold. My system is running a FX-8320 and GTX 760. This is really the last step and you should only consider it when you start noticing the extremely small inconsistencies with your mouse movements.
I use these because Steelseries QCK+ mouse pads are extremely thin which annoys me a lot. I always had to buy two and stack them.
I do agree that cloth works great. It’s smooth yet has enough resistance so that you don’t end up overcorrecting. I never had any kind of a luck with hard surfaced pads (either slick or textured).
And 100% agreed about getting a 120/144hz monitor as long as you can get that FPS in MP games. It is a night and day difference in regards to fluidity and mouse response. IIRC you currently are not on a PC that can achieve that FPS and you don’t have a lot of desk space. RIP

Yeah, I’m in a pretty tough situation. I’ll be building a PC sometime this year because I have enough saved up but my budget is tight so I don’t think I’ll be able to afford a 144hz monitor. #AUDproblems
Think you got it bad. Come over here to NZ. 144hz monitors are $700+ here lol. You guys pay way less than we do for electronics.
Luckily I got my hands on an old LG W2363D-PF 120hz screen back in 2010 when they first came out. Still perfect condition.

Oceania currencies are pretty much ass right now. I damn hope AUD goes up before the deadline to build my PC comes around.
Definitely would recommend getting a mumble crosshair, I’ll go ahead and show you what I use, and it should be perfectly aligned, just aim for the head and don’t spray unless you’re in close range.
You can go to Pixlr to change the color if you don’t have Photoshop, you get the stuff you need here.

And to add on to what Amerika said, yea, lower sens DEFINITELY helps. But also having a solid mouse and mouse pad helps as well, the more comfortable you feel while aiming the easier it is to play. Being tense or stressed will make you play like shit, and honestly, it’ll mess with your mind too, you’ll feel like you die faster, when in reality you’ll not playing as good as you should be.

I always wondered about that pad, how does the texture feel? Is it similar to the QCK or is it rather smooth, almost silky like the Pure Trak Talent?
I’m a bit obsessive when it comes to peripherals and mouse pads.

I have a QCK+ sitting right here and they feel virtually the same. The Glorious Gaming mouse pad is a lot darker and looks nicer. It’s about 2.5 to 3 times as thick as the QCK+ which is what made me buy it. Below you can see the color difference if that’s important to you.
Thanks, I just ordered a thick one since it was so cheap. I’m hoping it feels better than the Goliathus, and more closely resembles my Pure Trak, I mean I like the Talent but I wanna find the best I can get with my money, then sell the rest on ebay.

Holy crap that’s a HUGE mousepad and a SMALL mouse.
I use the Razer Deathadder with the small razer goliathus speed.
The deathadder is real nice for people with big hands like me, it’s also the perfect weight.
I’ve been using 1800 dpi, 1000 polling rate, and 5 sens ingame. However I just started trying out 800 dpi.

I can pull a consistent 160fps right now with a bit of tweaking. My desk is pretty small though. I probably do have enough room to order a larger mousepad, but I got this one a week ago and am not going to get rid of it without any use .-.
Out of curiosity, do you have a 144/120hz monitor?
Actually, this mouse is pretty big. That’s why I bought it as it fits my overly large basketball palming hands quite nicely. I usually refer to it as the “Cadillac” of mice due to it’s size. It also stays straight when I pick it up and move it. Some mice like to slant to the left for some reason with my style of play which annoys me.
I use 5 sensitivity in game and 400dpi. I swipe my mouse across that mouse pad to do a 180 degree turn in-game. Playing with my whole arm as opposed to my wrist works quite well for me. However, that style requires a big a$s mouse pad, a lot of desk space that is smooth and I recently picked up a tenkeyless keyboard so I didn’t randomly hit the side of my keyboard when I am swiping to the left.

When I uncap my FPS I run at 450 on a local map and in between 280 and 330 online. However, I recently capped it to 144fps to see if that fixed any of the jumping physics oddities that can sometimes happens in games with uncapped FPS.
And yeah, I have an 144hz monitor for my gaming monitor. I mostly got it when I did, quite a while back now, due to it having the lowest input latency of any monitor you could get at the time. A lot of people don’t know how much input latency effects their game or even know what it is (it’s not the 1ms or 2ms grey2grey you see advertised…that’s only for ghosting). I believe my monitor, when running at 144hz, has 6.7ms of input latency. Some PC monitors have as high as 50ms of latency and some TV’s can be much higher even when using “game” mode.
