I'm tired of all the complaining

(primBridge) #1

You have a right to your opinion, everybody does. But when you take that opinion and shove it in the forums face, and act like the only way to balance it is your way, that pisses me off. You want to be a game designer and make your own game? Go right ahead. But this is their game, and while feedback is helpful from a player stand point, you also have to realize that there is a whole lot more to making and designing a game then “fix this and it will be better”. You can give your 2 cents but also realize its just 2 cents. Its their game and they will do whatever they think is the right thing to do. And you know why? Cus even if they don’t give two ****'s about this game, this is also their job and this is their money. If they screw it up, you just go to a different game. But to them, that’s money flying out the window. They are working their asses off and some of you have the nerve to tell the devs that they should do this? That’s just plain stupid. You have every right to tell the devs that this part of the game isn’t fun, and they will do their best to fix it. But you didn’t go to school for this, you didn’t work in this industry, you have no clue what goes on and I only have a vague idea myself. So stop criticizing devs and designers for not doing their jobs when you have no clue how to do it either.

Edit: I posted something in the reply’s about how its toxicity towards devs, and not the feedback that i was critisizing. Sorry for any confusion, just don’t want people not reading the comments thinking i’m just salty, which i was at the time of writing this

agreed, the devs have years of experience in the industry, we know nothing

Dirty Bomb team is pro man, their system is so efficient wtf
I like this echo.

(primBridge) #5

Excuse me for rambling on in this, there is something I’d like to clear up. I wasn’t trying to scrutinize feedback, I was trying to be negative towards being toxic and hurtful towards the dev’s about it. Sorry for any misconception

(strawberryJacket) #6

You cant exactly blame people for that when some issues are known for MONTHS and they didnt do anything with it, most of the time they wouldnt even comment on it, so yea, frustration levels are pretty high.

(Zenity) #7

Publisher forums are always toxic unfortunately. I guess that just comes from the fact that most people go to the forums when they have something to complain about, so you get a very tense atmosphere.

That’s also why devs rarely interact in such forums (other than through community managers). It’s basic survival instinct.

Add to this that veterans of a game are always disgruntled. It’s a kind of status symbol: The more disgruntled you are, the more you stand above the foolish plebs who still enjoy the game. The only respectable way to be is to spend five hours a day playing a game you actually can’t stand.

1st of all: They ain’t valve, they ain’t jesus, and they ain’t perfect (yes valve is better then jesus). I’m sorry dev’s, but as much as I love the work you’ve put into this game, you ain’t as good as valve as a company. Love the game, but just not as much money or (probably) experience in the company. That being said, you can’t compare them to what valve or riot games are doing. their still in beta and working out the kinks, they ain’t valve level of game company (as a company, not a game) and they are, against all odds, human. You have no clue what goes on in that office, neither do I, and while we bug them for more content, bug fixing, AND balancing, it puts a lot of stress on them. Better to just give them advice helpfully and productively and leave it at that, have faith that the issues will get fixed instead of whining that they arn’t fixed this instant.

Still waiting for HL3

(primBridge) #10

I heard that it came out in 2012, but it was never found again. THE MAYAN CALENDER WAS RIGHT, 2012 IS THE END of half life.

(intenseRuby) #11

Totally. Just like how if you are a starving kid in Africa you shouldn’t beg for food or help; you should just hope that some charity will eventually notice you when they’re not too busy. Don’t want to stress them out, after all.

(primBridge) #12

That is totally an unfair and unreasonable comparison, these kids are being neglected and not cared for on a basic level for food and water; your just a whiny kid behind a computer who is not entitled to have game updates, its a want. Also, some of those kids DON’T beg, some do what you just said and just sit and wait. But i’d say nearly 60-70% of gamers whine about shit in games, cus their not getting it fast enough. Don’t compare games to the lives of children you dumb ass.

(Zenity) #13

This thread is getting rather toxic by itself. Chill…

(primBridge) #14

Yeah your absolutely right. And I’m sorry, also i didn’t read your post earlier zenlty and your right about that stuff too (sorry, was posting when you responded), but the big reason I made this forum is for the dev’s to know that we arn’t all people like that, that their are some nice people in this community to, they usually don’t come to forums. But my intent was not to be toxic, just to give the dev’s something to smile about. Guess i got derailed. But yes zenlty, everything you said was correct and I’m sorry my point wasn’t clear enough, just kinda snapped a little bit.

I can’t possibly fathom what’s incorporated to produce a game like this, it far exceeds my capabilities, and to the OP i can understand your frustrations, you want to vent and to follow on from that i shall vent myself, people get angry at things when they don’t win, i’m not ageist or anything but younger folks expect things on a plate, i would put money on the majority or try hards in this game are age 25+, children will scream stuff is “unfair” hense the “cry babie” stuff is op change this and that etc.

Sparse, thank you for this. And just to give you hope in the future generation, i’m only 15 lol

You’re at a restaurant and you order a chicken salad.
After waiting for a beta key your salad for what felt like months hours, you call the waitress, and remind her about it, and it’s then finally served to your table.
Right away you notice that there’s a critical bug hair sticking out of the dish, you pick it out and inform the waitress, but that 15 year old dude at the next table goes “SHHH” and glares at you.
You shrug it off, and start eating your salad, but you notice that the game chicken isn’t properly optimized cooked, and at this point you’re getting a little upset.
You call the waitress, and demand a new, properly made dish. She understands and goes to inform the cook.
Now this lil fella at the next table is visibly upset, his face is red with anger, and he’s mumbling something.

You ask him “are you okay?”.

He explodes into a rant.
“ARE YOU A TRAINED CHEF? HUH? I DIDN’T THINK SO!
Who are you to criticize the chicken salad? That’s right, you’re a nobody.
Shut up and eat your salad, or get out of here.
There are many homeless people out there who would be grateful to eat such a meal.
You are a privileged, whiny, snobby a-hole.”

You burst into tears and run out of the restaurant.

You’ve been told.

(Nail) #18

you’re playing in a closed beta test, you start whining because it’s not perfect, everyone laughs at you

(CC_FANG) #19

Both positive and negative feedback is extremely useful to devs, I think the point the OP is trying to make is that even the negative feedback doesn’t need to be abusive.

(primBridge) #20

srsWizard, first of all to state what CC_FANG has previously stated, I didn’t scrutinize scrutiny, I scrutinized toxicity in scrutiny. So lets re-write your example a little bit.

You call the waitress, and demand a new, properly made dishYou call the waitress a fag and demand that she make my chicken salad at once or else. She understands and goes to inform the cook.
Now this lil fella at the next table is visibly upset, his face is red with anger, and he’s mumbling something.

You ask him “Wtf is the matter with you boi”.

He explodes into a rant.
“ARE YOU A TRAINED CHEF? HUH? I DIDN’T THINK SO?
Who are you to criticize the chicken salad? That’s right, you’re a nobody.
Shut up and eat your salad, or get out of here.
There are many homeless people out there who would be grateful to eat such a meal.
You are a privileged, whiny, snobby a-hole.”

You then say “R U serious?”

He answers “Sorry, I just had a bad day. What I meant to say was that, even though you critiqued the chef, you didn’t have to put it in a way to be harmful to him”

He then gives you a long ass comparison on starving children in Africa and a wayyy to thought out example of how games are like this too on forums.

The end.
