I'm really sick of having to explain this to people.

(tx3000) #1

It’s bad enough I’m really sick of having to explain this to people, but what’s worse is the people I ask this too totally ignore everything I say then proceed to tell me to do everything i just asked about by watching teh vidoes (Which is one of the things I am sick of explaining)

I have pretty much given up on this game.
I’ve watched all the videos in the dossier, I’ve watched the beginning videos for the game. I still cannot get an answer from anyone to this aside from watch the videos as it explains everything…which I’m sick of telling people it doesn’t explain anything I’m posting on this list below:

  1. I’m sick of running out of ammunition with no way to get more…And don’t bother saying soldiers have it, or go to a station, because that’s a whole other problem and mess.

The problem with trying to tell me, or saying that soldiers have ammo or going to a station is pointless because of all these unexplained things:

  1. There is no way to tell who are soldiers There is nothing that denotes their icon
  2. Where they are.
  3. How to get to them.
  4. One you do get to one, what hotkey makes them give you ammo.

As for stations, I’ve used all my ammo and then activated a station…I never got more, Activating a station does absolutely nothing.

  1. Objectives.
Objectives have the same problem as trying to find soldiers, there is no way to know what one you have to do, what one is selected, how to know what one you’re selecting, how to change it, as well as there is nothing denoting where they are on the mini-map, so getting to them is impossible due to running arond blindly hoping to get to one randomly…right now there is no way to know how to pick a challenge, know it’s picked, activate it, know where it is on the map, then go do it…

So until challenges are fully explained in great detail with all teh above information being explained I gave up trying to do challenge becuase they are impossible to do without knowing everything I just mentioned isn’t explained.

  1. The mini-map legend.
A lot of the games problems would be solved if you’re just told ok this icon represents this, this icon represents this, this is how to know where they are on the map as well as how far they are from you.

  2. Secondary weapon…
What’s the point to having a secondary weapon if you cannot ever equip it. This isn’t explauined either.

  3. I die constatly and cannot complete challenges for 2 really annoying reasons,

  4. Cannot crouch

  5. Running out of ammunition.

These are just some of the game play issues I’ve been having

I will alsso ignore any and all comments and replies saying to watch teh videos, or I have no problems or any other nonsense that has nothing to do with anything or proves anything…>Saying it’s in thee video doesn’t make it a fact…

If anyone wants to rspond to this topic can speak to me directly in voice chat through xfire or ventrillo because i’m not going to get into a reply war on a forum Either voice chat with me like an adult or don’t bother replying at all.

I’m beyond annoyed now.

let’s detail every issue you have and see if I can’t explain it to ya

  1. Ammo is scarce and you should conserve more.
1a. Soldiers are Denoted by the three bullet icon that marks their class everywhere.
You have to see them in person to note it but it’s next to their name if i’m correct or somewhere near their character
    1b. That’s your problem
1c. Walking is always the best solution
1d. you have to count on them being nice and giving you ammo. Enjoy

Stations give ammo. I promise.

  1. Objectives.
picking objectives - activate the objective wheel it highlights the obj. Also a golden colored objective is one you can actively accomplish
    knowing it’s picked - it’ll be highlighted
activating - uh, as in doing it? the class you need for your primary is colored gold in the Supply point menu.
knowing where it is - uh, it’s highlighted and you get a little marker for it.
doing it - shoot at bad guys.

  2. The mini-map legend.
Range on the mini-map is kinda odd, I tend to be able to guess well but it doesn’t show what floor baddies are on, so just watch yoursel

Also Icons:
Red Dot - bad guy, shoot here
Hollow Red Dot - downed bad guy, or dead bad guy

and the same for white dots

also
little hexagon shape denotes a mine, either enemy or friendly depending on color
turret shape indicates a turret

  1. Secondary weapon…
Secondaries are always equipped, I change mine from pistol to smg all the time and use it religiously. It’s reachable via the scroll wheel. Choosing a secondary is as easy as clicking the little black dot in the top left of the gun’s info box and making it white.

  2. I die constatly and cannot complete challenges for 2 really annoying reasons,

  3. Crouch is C I think. Look up the bindings

  4. This isn’t Call of Duty. Gotta take careful aim at medium to long range. Short range you can go buck wild.

Did you ever consider that this might just not be the game for you?

But of course you said you will never respond to any replies to your topic…

are you kidding me even i understood this game the day i got it, quite sad how people are these days no offense

let’s detail every issue you have and see if I can’t explain it to ya

Fair enough. I’ll be commenting on each answer either asking where you obtained this information or makinga comment.

  1. Ammo is scarce and you should conserve more.
1a. Soldiers are Denoted by the three bullet icon that marks their class everywhere.
You have to see them in person to note it but it’s next to their name if I’m correct or somewhere near their character
    1b. That’s your problem

Of course it’s my problem, it’s not explained. This is bad game design if the only way to know this is to actually be next to them but again that contradicts itself because without knowing this, you have no idea whom you’re standing next to in the first place.

Stations give ammo. I promise.
Ok how? I’ve been at stations and never get any ammo. Once again Game design fail

  1. Objectives.
picking objectives - activate the objective wheel it highlights the obj. Also a golden colored objective is one you can actively accomplish
    knowing it’s picked - it’ll be highlighted

UMMM and this is highlighted where?..>What am i lookinig for…define highlighted…

[activating - uh, as in doing it? the class you need for your primary is colored gold in the Supply point menu.
Ok I should have explained what my issue with this is a little better…

knowing where it is - uh, it’s highlighted and you get a little marker for it.

Define what the marker looks like, where is it and how far?

doing it - shoot at bad guys.

Kept running out of ammo

  1. The mini-map legend.
Range on the mini-map is kinda odd, I tend to be able to guess well but it doesn’t show what floor baddies are on, so just watch yoursel

Kind of impossible to watch yourself when this isn’t explained I mean I get shot with invisble gunshots or lasers from walls…

Also Icons:
Red Dot - bad guy, shoot here
Hollow Red Dot - downed bad guy, or dead bad guy

and the same for white dots

Knew about teh red, but didn’t know about the hollow red or anything regarding white

also
little hexagon shape denotes a mine, either enemy or friendly depending on color
turret shape indicates a turret[/quote should have been explained in a tutorial… And since it’s not how did you obtain this information?
4. Secondary weapon…
Secondaries are always equipped, I change mine from pistol to smg all the time and use it religiously. It’s reachable via the scroll wheel. Choosing a secondary is as easy as clicking the little black dot in the top left of the gun’s info box and making it white.

I understand it is always equipped because I can see it on my screen, I never use the mousewheel in any game ever. Also you lost me with talking about clicking a dot… Since there is no cursor clicking anything on the screen is not possible

  1. Crouch is C I think. Look up the bindings

Sorry I outright refuse to have to look up something like this…This is a basic game play function that is supposed to be being explained to you by the devs.

  1. This isn’t Call of Duty. Gotta take careful aim at medium to long range. Short range you can go buck wild.
Kind of lost me on this one.
Did you ever consider that this might just not be the game for you?

So I should miss out because Bethesda doesn’t explain anything? You FAIL. BTW people like you should stop usinga phrase like that as a crutch, just ebcause the devs are too lazy to epxlain how to play games they make…Just like the crouch button keybinding…I outright refuse beyond any description to go do any legwork on how to do anything i’ve brought up in this topic…that is the responsibility of the devs to explain all this which are game play basics…Not my responsibility as a player to have to look up how to get more ammo because the devs cnanot explain how…Aint going to happen.

are you kidding me even i understood this game the day i got it, quite sad how people are these days no offense

No, what’s sad is how you think it’s aplayer’s responsibility to have to go out of their own way to do the devs job for them… Your thinking is incorrect and way off track…the devs have not explained anything I have menetioned in thsi thread at all, but yet these are all game play basics… The devs are 100% at fault for me not knowing anything I asked abut as well as causing me to come to a forum and ask other members to do the devs job for them. Sorry but what the devs did on this and any dev that does it to any other game that has this same exact issue is 100% uncalled for and unexcusable

Anyway thank you for what you did answer.

(RobbedCustomer) #7

Try the challenge mode, it does a much better job of explaining the game mechanics than the videos do. Also don’t take out your stupidity on other members of the community, it ain’t our fault you’re dense pal.

So, you are saying that, because the game doesn’t fit into your preconceptions the developers are at fault?

Anyone who has spent years playing Enemy Territory and Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is laughing at you right now.

You are just WAY TO NEGATIVE. Just to take one subject from your thread.

  1. Crouch is C I think. Look up the bindings
    >>>Sorry I outright refuse to have to look up something like this…This is a basic game play function that is supposed to be being explained to you by the devs.

Do you even play computer games other than Solitaire and Minesweeper?

  1. Most shooters the crouch button is C or CTRL. Is just 2 guesses you have to make.
  2. If the game doesn’t feature a manual, or if the manual doesn’t include a picture of the controls, you are expected to at least take a look a the controls section within the game. That applies to most games these days, even on consoles.
  3. You are expected to go to the controls sections anyway because no PC shooter game has the controls set just right, most gamers move at least 1 button. Mainly because not all buttons are going to be exactly in the same place. While there are lots of stuff which is common there is always 1 button that is different from 1 game to the other.

(tx3000) #10

So, you are saying that, because the game doesn’t fit into your preconceptions the developers are at fault?

I only talk to people who aren’t too stupid to be talking to, you’re clearly way too dense to grasp that devs are 100% supposed to be explaining game play basics to a player. So we are done talking to each other until you can understand that.

Do you even play computer games other than Solitaire and Minesweeper?

You think a player is expected to look up what is supposed to be on screen prompts? You’re completely out of your mind. and have no clue how the business world works apparently… Let me let you in on a little secret…I bought their product, therefore they are supposed to explain the game play basics ON THE SCREEN with hints just like many other games, A player is not required or supposed to be looking up stuff like this. If you think they are you shouldn’t even be playing games. I wont look it up either because it’s not my job to go find out on my own how to do game play basics which is the devs responsibility. The sooner people such as yourself understand that, the better off in life you will be… For now you need to stop defending who is causing the problem and start looking at the products downfall.

  1. You are expected to go to the controls sections anyway because no PC shooter game has the controls set just right, most gamers move at least 1 button. Mainly because not all buttons are going to be exactly in the same place.

Says who? You? HAHAHAHAHAH you’re an idiot…again go read what I posted above and learn how the business world works

While there are lots of stuff which is common there is always 1 button that is different from 1 game to the other.

You can’t use other games controlling to try and justify yourself or the company As it’s not relevant and has nothing to do with the company having ZERO excuse for not including on screen instructions for it’s game play basics…NONE…Just because millions of people don’t use an instruction, doesn’t give the company the ecuse to not put it in…

Think of it like this, you have 100 products from all different companies and have problems with every product you purchased from all 100 companies. Don’t even bother trying to tell me you wouldn’t call their customer service line to get help either. What would happen if every single one you called the customer service rep told you to google the problem, or you’re dumb, or go troll another business, or the ever famous, you shouldn’t be calling here if you don’t know how to use it. You full well know you would have a massive major problem with this. And don’t bother trying to say you would at least try to figure out the problem by yourself before calling either…You know that you would call teh company complpaining ebcuase you paid for something and it’s not getting delivered…So don’t bother trying to say otherwise…

(slengteng) #11

With regards to crouching when completing an objective I have had this problem myself. If you have the crouch toggle off it is difficult if not impossible to repair something and remain crouched (this is a bug). With crouch toggle on this problem doesn’t exist.

As for ammo you need to pay more attention to how much you have and adjust your gameplay accordingly. If you are running low retreat from the frontline and if you don’t find a soldier to give you some then visit a command post. Visiting a command post does refill your ammo automatically. Press whatever button it says on the screen to activate the command post. When you disengage from it then press reload and you will see you have full ammo for both weapons.

To use your seconday weapon look through the binds (in the options) and see what key you have it bound to. Is this the first shooter you’ve ever played? There is nothing unique about the way you switch weapons in this game.

holy ****, press F next to a station as if u were gona change class, it fulls up your ammo.

The crouch key is not set to left Ctrl because u cant press ctrl and shift at once with one pinky, well at least i
cant. p.s. just incase u didnt know pressing crouch while sprinting is sliding.

U keep complaining about ammo, get two smg’s equip Extended mag or the Drum stick. about 150-200 of ammo in each gun. should last you till u get to the next station or soldier.

The mini map is pretty !@#$ obvious, the turret is shown by a turret icon. and a mine is show in a mine icon. they obviously not gona show enemy mines or turrets unless it has been spotted by a Operative.

your team mate are shown in with a white circle, and enemies a red circle like it was explained by the previous post.

i think u should quit Brink, its too challenging for ur brain to handle.

This is the most epic PEBKAC ever!

(McAfee) #16

tx3000, you don’t belong in the computer world at all. I agree that things can be explained better in the computer world in general, but this is not a perfect world, and you don’t have enough patience or curiosity.

Almost every software today, even outside of games, don’t tell you what all the buttons do. Manuals get smaller and smaller everyday. You get a tiny excuse of a manual that will probably only tell you how to install it, and then you just launch the software product or gadget, sit in some sort of home screen, and then press the buttons to figure out what they do.

Manuals disappeared because of the tendency of the new/younger consumers, they tend to use first, read later. In contrast the older generation tend to to read the whole documentation before even starting the software or device.

That’s why people who didn’t grow up with all these new products, and didn’t evolve with them, have such a hard time getting used to them. I know lots of old people that don’t use computers everyday and if you sit them in front of something slightly different from what they are used to, they are completely lost. Small transitions like a new version of Windows or a new Web Browser.

So in this not perfect world, I don’t think this game is designed for people like you in mind, Sorry. People who give up because they didn’t find where to crouch, didn’t have the curiosity to move onwards, and even after being explained by another player still bitch about it.

This game, in particular the computer version, is designed for people who are a little bit more curious. There is a learning curve to it, and you find new stuff each day, which is not written anywhere. And that is what makes the people who like this game keep looking forward to the next time they play it. And I see that tendency on most of the computer world.

It’s fine by me if you want to make the world a better place, but you are swimming against the stream.

Now you are combining games with the business world? If you don’t take a look at your configuration when you start a new game anyways, you’re either extremely stupid or know how to play. This game is about parkour, of course the controls are going to be a little bit different from Call of Duty and other popular games. You want an on screen prompt? What are you, 4? “Press the c button now, to crouch down. That’s good, you are such a good boy~” If you wont look up controls, then don’t bitch when people are trying to help you. You need to stop thinking the world revolves around you, and that the developers make games for the mass population, not one sniveling little brat who desperately wants the world to revolve around them.
This just in!

IT DOESN’T!

(tx3000) #18

holy ****, press F next to a station as if u were gona change class, it fulls up your ammo.

You say thiss o loosley as if this was told to you… You are completely 100% retarded… It says press F to access the command post…THERE IS NOTHING AT ALL THAT EXPLAINS HWO AMMO IS FILLED FROM IT…ANYONOE WHO THINKS THIS WAS EXPLAINED NEEDS TO BE SHOT!

The crouch key is not set to left Ctrl because u cant press ctrl and shift at once with one pinky, well at least i
cant. p.s. just incase u didnt know pressing crouch while sprinting is sliding.

And you or anyone else doesn’t think a player should have been told this by the devs?

U keep complaining about ammo, get two smg’s equip Extended mag or the Drum stick. about 150-200 of ammo in each gun. should last you till u get to the next station or soldier.

It’s nice to see how people constantly keep saying this and never explaining how…ONCE AGAIN THE STUPIDITY FROM PEOPLE REIGNS SUPREME.

Lets clarify something ok.

  1. NO WHERE DOES IT EXPLAIN HOW TO GET A SECONDARY WEPON AND USE IT… NOWHERE so stop saying just get another gun like I have any clue to wtf you’re talking about or how. If the game explained this like it’s supposed to, we wouldn’t be having this discussion.

  2. Regarding getting ammo from soldiers or a station. I would but there are a few little problems:
    a. It doesn’t explain what the soldiers icons are so there is no way to tell if you’re near one.
    b. There is no mini-map legend like there is supposed to be so there is absolutely no way to locate them on a map, how close they are, or even which direction to start going in to get to them
    c. Let say you do find a soldier…they never give you any ammunition because there is no hotkey to get that option active.
    d. Same problem with stations… On top of that all it says is to press F to activate the station WHICH I DID…once you activate the sation…??? STATION ACTIVATED …Waiting for the ammo…and waiting for the ammo…waiting for the ammo…waiting for the ammo…and waiting…and waiting…ammo here yet (NPE) waiting for the ammo…

Stop being stupid and say go to a station and get some when you full well know it explains nothing on how to get ammo from it or the soldiers

The mini map is pretty !@#$ obvious, the turret is shown by a turret icon. and a mine is show in a mine icon. they obviously not gona show enemy mines or turrets unless it has been spotted by a Operative.

Sorry you fail with that because you have no actual minimap legend…you pull up an officially made map by either splash damage or bethesda or both that show what icon is what and how to locate them then talk…otherwise just STFU.

your team mate are shown in with a white circle, and enemies a red circle like it was explained by the previous post.

Once again something the devs are supposed to be explaining, not members of a random forum doing the devs job for them.

i think u should quit Brink, its too challenging for ur brain to handle.

I think the devs shouldn’t be lazy and these types of topics wouldn’t come up…try using your brain for once and stop defending devs and their lazy sloppy programming.

Bottom line is if the devs cannot do their job not my problem I’ll just bring it to as many forums as I can.

You all can try to blame me but the reality is every single person in this thread knows that everything i brought up in this thread is correct and the devs should have explained everything I have covered…and again anyone who thinks this stuff is explained in the game needs their heads examained.

I Absolutey will not and I outright absolutely refuse to look up how to do game play basics because that’s what a tutorial is. And a tutorial is spoon fed hand held information that explains every small little detail on game play basics… A player is not required or supposed to do any thinking, experiementing, figuring anything out or anything else when it comes to a tutorial and a game play basics…

I will not read manuals, look at control settings or anything else like this for that matter when it comes to things devs are supposed to be explaining to you.

Yes I will cry about it yes I will complain…But I sure as hell am not going to go figure things like this out on my own…It aint going to happen.
