hi, I’ve just started mapping yesterday, and have made a basic map, thanks to your tutorials. Now, I wanted to make a more complicated map, where the allies have to steal gold from their base by dymamiting the entrance and escape with the axis’s truck. Here’s my problems:

  1. How do I make these gold crates, like the ones in goldrush?

  2. How do I make the truck, like the one in goldrush?

  3. How do I make a truck barrier?

plz help, I am hopelessly stuck :???:

You are in luck. The goldrush .map file comes with radiant. I suggest you have a look around :smiley:

Im tring to test my map out, but it says that my map is leaked, what does that mean?

The interior of your map isn’t completely sealed off from the void. Specifically, one of your entities can draw a path which leads it outside the map (big fricken red line). Follow that and you’ll find your leak

ok, so what should I do to the leak?

You need to block the leak off.
Follow the line that the entity gives you and close the area off by a brush extension or if you haven’t done it yet, a skybox. Creating a box around your map around grid size 8 and caulk the entire structure and texture it’s innerds with a sky shader. If the map leaks and there isn’t an evident red line, you may need to go to “misc” on the toolbar and “find brush”. Enter in the valid #, most times it will be an entity # and it should highlight that entity for you.
Some models are just a hassle, so if they leak on you, you may just want to avoid them until you learn abit more about mapping.

What should I do to the leak? also, I’m struggling with the truck, the goldrush map didnt help with that. :lookaround:

read EB`s post^^ he already answered your question.

if u have a models whats getting market as “leak” but it is definitely not in the void check if the models is in a structural brush. that can cause your leak message.

to the truck… grow with ur maps! dont start with the catchiest thing. start to read a lot of tutorials… read them again and try to rebuild a commandpost etc.

Okay, Ive dumped that map and started something easier.

I need help again, Im tring to run my .bsp map on ET by typing \sv_pure 0\g_gametype 2\map Overhaul (overhaul is my map) when I press `. But it doesnt work, does anyone know?

it does nothing. I typed it in correctly, the file is there, but there is nothing

well, typically whenever a map of mine won’t load, there is some error message like “cannot find .bsp", “invalid autospawn”, " must have a target”, “g_scripting *****”. Without some sort of error message, you’ll just get a lot of guessing.

Maybe you typed all those commands on one line?
Since that won’t do, every “/<command>” needs to be put on a new line.

Can’t think of another thing you could have done wrong so that you won’t get an error…

Exactly, also verify you have a Overhaul.bsp file and make sure it is located in the ‘maps’ folder inside of your ‘etmain’ folder, otherwise the map does not exist in the games Point of View.

yeah, I did put them on one line, heh.

Well, now a new problem has popped up. I’ve made my map now, I ran it but it said no spawn point found. I do have everything on my spawnpoints, the team_wolf_objective and team_CTF_bluespawns/team_CTF_redspawns around them. Would anyone know why this is happening?

Have you put an info_player_deathmatch entity in? You’ll need that as well.

Check below for 2 very easy map tutorials im posting my 3rd soon but this one will be tidyer i have put a tutorial on making a simple constructable and a simple forward spawn poit + the script for this, This next utorial is how to mix them both togher and add a final objective, easy a map for any amount of terrors

also i post this site my site is crap compared but becarefull on there tutorials pay no attention to any tutorial with script in because all the tutorials are for rtcw except a few but its good enough to get your map-making skills up to scratch

yep, it was the info_player_deathmatch.

I have got it working, I was wowed with the results! Well, its almost complete, I’m troubled by func_explosive. Im stuck with the info_player_intermission being activated when I destroy it, and the actual dymomiting. Anyone?

Do u want the match to end when you blow up the dynamtie
