Note: I have a Xbox360.

DLC only need be maps and outfits. The current game modes are fine. Brink don’t need TDM. Lag is a lot less since last week. Texture thing is a whatever. Gears 1 loaded at the start of a match. Never bothered me. Brink doesn’t have a lobby and I am still enjoying the game, so shrug on that.
No we need lobbies. I blame that rookie mistake for the degeneration of console communities.
Textures graphics whatever I don’t really mind how they are now, and I don’t think they can remedy that with DLC.
Lag is a must, but we all know this and they’re fixing it.
However on the game modes, I personally would really like to see this SDK thing at work. And if users create some killer maps/game modes, I wouldn’t mind having those as an optional, purchasable DLC. That way the core audience of this objective stuff keeps their game, and those who want Brinks gameplay with something outside the objective box, we can have it.
Can’t see anything wrong with that.

Maps like Frostbite for ET were essentially one way CTF, and they were ridiculously awesome. I’m down with maps like that that are simple and elegant.
Any symmetrical crap gets a no-vote instantly, however.
Priceless.

You keep pushing for lobbies. Let me ask you a question: Brink is rated T for Teen. Now, could that be one of the reasons that there is no lobby and one of the reasons it gets a T rating? It seems a conscious design decision not to have a lobby rather than degeneration. Plus I hated lobbies for the simple fact that you could be kicked out of the game. I just don’t feel it is necessary in Brink.
Okay, when I say lobbies i’m mainly referring to pre-game lobbies of which are used to organize groups of friends together. Especially useful in a game that fits up to 16 players. Lobbies also help to organize competitive matches.
I’m not talking about the arbitrary period between matches where all people are forced into the same speaking zone whilst in limbo. That already happens in Brink. When a match ends, the chat channels open up and both teams hear each other. Almost every game out there is like this, Brink is no exception.
Lobbies are tools of organization so friends can huddle up and head into a game together.
Instead of one guy joins, next guy tries to join, next guy, so on until either everyone makes it in, or what usually happens and the game fills up and someone is left out. Thus the process restarts.
See why theres a need?
EDIT: Lobbies have nothing to do with the T rating. Lack of language, intense blood and violence, and other things are why it gets a T rating.
Online interactions are not rated by the ESRB, says so on your box

Ok, thanks for clearing that up. Now, my other question: Why can’t you use the xbox party system in the dashboard to accomplish what you are trying to do? Like, make a party. Then join party and game? Can you set up a private game in Brink for a Party? It has a private game instead of Public game in the menus…
You can set up a party and do private games. But that eliminates the ability to pit your team of friends against anyone else on Xbox Live or PSN. So its just you and your buds against bots. Public can’t join private matches.
Its important to remember the lobbies we speak of are pre-game lobbies.
Basically. All your buds join up in a XBL party. Everyones ready to rock in roll. You all boot up Brink. Someone creates the lobby and invites the party to it.
Once the entire party is in the lobby, you set your search criteria, and hit “Find Game” or whatever. With everyone in this lobby, you would all be matched up with the same game and would all join at the same time. It would automatically bypass games without enough space for everyone to join. If there isn’t a match available that could get everyone in, then a host is chosen from the party, and a new game is started. Its a new public game however that is created, and random people are able to join.
I think the lobby idea you’re against is the mid-match mush of all players from both teams. And it already happens in Brink, where you have to mute the trash talkers or whining kids etc.
The lobby system players want is purely an organizational tool for getting you and all your friends into the same game at the same time.
Every game on XBL has it. I can’t think of one that doesn’t. Some have different approaches. Like Two Worlds II, where you see an actual representation of your character and everyones character in the lobby. But you can talk freely with whoever is in the lobby before you launch the game.
The lag is better because (a) no one is playing and (b) they limited the playlists to 4 vs. 4. That is not a fix.
You must work for SD. You don’t feel lobbies are necessary is a dead give away. Do you not have friends to play with? Why wouldn’t you want a lobby so you could get them in a room and play other rooms full of people…not bots.
You’re either an SD employee or a huge troll.
Cuz they are so 1337.
a party system would be cool. But as it is i still love Brink. Mainly just been playing CO-OP against AI with friends so hasnt really bothered me.
I agree. The degeneration of the gaming community, due to consoles, is the reason certain people need lobbies.
Twisting words, lol.
Lobbies sound perfectly reasonable to me. Lots of PC gamers don’t even use the server browser, just /connect. Dunno why you guys need to be so abrasive about certain issues. : P
I’m still wondering why Console gamers need lobbies or the game is useless, while PC players have never had them iirc, and never needed them ?
this lobby thing isn’t only in the brink forum - if you go around into any console forum with the subject being BRINK, a lobby is always brought up, as a matter of fact people are confused when they get brink wondering how come there is no lobby, why do they need it I’m guess because it would be easier to organize having your friends play together and just stick with until the next map is up…i have no idea really.
but then there is the PC guys always questioning why the console guys need a lobby and it’s just an infinite recycled circle, I don’t get why the pc guys care what the console guys want…they obviously need it for their reasons.
