I'm boycotting - Cant take mine complaints no longer!!!

I know I am just one guy but regardless, I am boycotting ET until they change mines. The amount of complaints I recieve are ridiculous and quite frankly I don’t feel that I have EVER put a mine in a spot that was IMPOSSIBLE to get by. I truley hope that SD is considering the change because I do like the game despite feeling ripped off by not being a full release. Hope to see ya’s again on the battlefield, but until that changes the only battlefield you’ll see me on is Battlefield 1942. Good luck and God speed, soldiers!

heh have fun on that boycott ;o :blah: :blah: :blah: :blah:

Yeah, I agree that it does get annoying, but first, that’s not SD’s fault, it should be the job of server admins to monitor abuse of the complaint system, and second, boycott refers to a refusal to engage in commercial dealings. The concept doesn’t work when the product is free.

I am not blaming SD in particular, but since they are not sure about the release of the source code for ET, they are my best bet for a change in this matter. Yes, I do wish that server ops were more attentive to what is going on on their servers but they can’t be there 24/7 either. Futhermore, the term boycott refers to NOT just buying something but also USING it. Another fine example of “the lost art of reading”.

I hear what you are saying, but there are good quality servers out there were you will find you wont get filed on if someone happens to walk on your mine.

Simple solution: Don’t be an Engineer!

Be patient. As people learn the game more and start visiting the same servers more regularly they’ll stop filing complaints. I had a guy purposely just walk on every landmine there was. Completely ruined my game >:(.

I just went elsewhere after switching off eng for a bit rather than yelling and screaming and giving him the pleasure of seeing me like that. I wish there was another way to deal with it.

While running a test server I had a number of occassions where I was kicked for complaint filing due to players walking over my mines. However, since the full release has come out, and players are starting to learn how to play, I’ve not received a single complaint filed against me for mines set off by my own team. Just give it some time to settle down.

Actually this is a problem. I usually don’t play Eng, but I have seen noons runing staright to mines without any worries. Mine complaints should really be disabled since you can’t really intentionally TK with mines.

Actually you can. Plant them at your team’s respawn place

Clearly you don’t understand the concept of the boycott, in which case, I won’t be missing you on the ET war front. Have fun with your EA gooey brownie game.

To clarify, basically you are taking a stand against free-games. Fine. Fabulous. To ‘boycott’, implies that you intend to do damage by not-using a product. Unless you are a server admin, then you probably don’t really matter. There’s always empty spots and empty servers, one more available player spot isn’t gonna hurt.

True, this is a n00b game right now, and will be for some time as people learn about it. Server admins will be able to set restrictions in the future to negate n00bs from joining, like setting the minimum PB ID age for their server, so that players who have been playing less than a day or two can go elsewhere. It’s a cool idea.
