And yet it’s deemed necessary to enter every one of those threads and piss and whine about it? An act with virtually zero practical use and ironically only serves to expose these threads more.
Can’t speak for others but this is the first time I’ve responded to one of these types of threads on -any- BRINK forum. It’s that I just reached a tipping point, got fed up with seeing these threads day in & day out. I generally stay away as, like you pointed out, it just fans the flames…which in all reality is what the poster wants. “Look at me! Look at me!”
I'm Back, With My Brink
But that’s the point, these threads are taken as attention seeking or trolling when the sad sad reality is they’re actually people giving up on the game.
Should they be in a single thread? Perhaps.
Would that thread be full of trolling like this one? Undoubtedly.
Does it really matter if they’re not? IMO no, as the frequency of the posts and activity in the forum don’t seem to be adversely impacted.
So really I’m back to my original point. People should just stop using these threads as a means to beat up on someone while feeling you’re in the right.
Yes, my wife is a “girl”. (Despite what you may have heard about San Francisco.)
I notice that the forum moderators don’t seem to consolidate threads at all which I think may be adding to the problem of repeat thread topic spam. I’ve been on game forums that are really good about this, but their mods have to keep on top of it or it just gets way out of hand. Case in point.

I sold my brink steam account one week after the launch for 20 euro’s. I can get 2 brink keys for that price right know. It doesn’t feel like I am robbed.
With the way medical tech is skyrocketing I wouldn’t be surprised.
100 years was an exaggeration, but you know that n64 games go at a ridiculous price?

You have a wife? WHO PLAYS VIDEO GAMES!?!!?!?
Lucky bastard. XD
And haven’t you heard about my Brink complaint thread?
I prefer the term “chick” but yes.
As for the question of “I’m quitting this game” threads, JJ’s post may have been hyperbolic, but he’s got a point. There’s no reason to spam about it. I’m pretty sure SD has seen these same complaints before. But maybe SD can sticky one of these threads so people will see it and keep these posts to one place.

I thought this was a rather constructive and argumented first post, nothing wrong with it
But that’s the point, these threads are taken as attention seeking or trolling when the sad sad reality is they’re actually people giving up on the game.
But do they really need to come on the forum & tell us/everyone that they are quitting the game & how it sucks/was dissapointing? No, they don’t. It’s vanity, plain & simple. So they are quitting the game? So what? No need to be all dramatic about it. Just quit the game & move on. They could be doing better things with their time. Like, I dunno…playing a game they do like?

The Beth forums are exact opposite of here where anything the mods don’t agree with is locked straight away, and anyone with an opinion deemed negative or has the potential controversy is banned. The SD staff are very laxed indeed, anything goes within reason, positive or negative, and everyone is given the right to their own thread… unless it’s about female models
Uuuuh… That isn’t true. We’ve had countless negative feedback posts. And plenty of hate-spewing over there. Almost every day we get a new hate-thread.
And they’re rarely as constructive as this guy was, and I’m being generous.
I don’t know what forums you’re on, but it isn’t Beth, that’s for sure.
Exactly what I feel people expect from these threads and why they respond in the way they do. Other than the stuff I’ve already covered here’s a few other thoughts.
- They’re doing it on the developer’s forum, maybe the message is meant for the developer not us.
- Many companies would kill to know why someone doesn’t like their product. Why should we dictate what is acceptable.
- Vanity I think applies to people who jump feet first into these threads to attack the posters. “Hey look at me protect the game and beat up on the unhappy dude” IMO it’s at best trolling the OP to retaliate and weaken their usually solid argument, at worst it’s just plain bullying people.
- Many people who post these threads never come back, they’re not looking for attention, a refund, friends, explanations. They just gave up on the game and likely won’t be buying SDs next game as a result. Again, maybe that’s valuable for SD to know or at least not live in ignorance of it.
Also I love SDs moderation here, they leave everyone alone as much as possible and you’re free to say and do pretty much what you please as long as it’s in a respectful tone.

That’s weird, because at one point we were inundated with new users claiming they were trying to get their point across on the Beth forums, and their threads were locked or deleted and they were forced to come here.
The people who come here and hate on the OP are doing exactly what they are accusing him of, trolling and hating. For starters, the OP wasn’t rude, disrespectful, or even insulting. He raised several valid facts about the game. Second, the OP doesn’t force anyone to respond to his thread so anyone who doesn’t like it doesn’t have to post on it. Third, jumping on someone’s thread only to criticize it and derail it is the rudest thing any one can do, not to mention a form of trolling. Fourth, some people here are complaining about a flood of ‘hate’ threads. I am going to go ahead and call B.S. on that one.The other day someone made a hate thread and it got locked right away. That same thread stayed in the front page for days! meaning that there is a lack of new threads in general (good or bad). OP at least made a constructive thread with much room for discussion but God forbid someone says that brink isn’t perfect. The fanboys instantly throw a tantrum and just contribute to making this forum an unwelcoming one, albeit a death one, but unwelcoming nonetheless.
So jut for the sake of it, I’m try to do something no one has done until this point, discuss the original post:
Terrible storyline- I agree with this one. The story was horrible. Not so much the story itself, but just the way it was represented. You find yourself detached to the characters and usually wishing you could forget them cause they are so butt ugly. Also, the little scenes between missions where too convoluted IMO. A morally grey story is always intriguing to me, but in this case it was just delivered wrong.
teaser trailers- Personally, the trailers to me weren’t so far off the actual game, but they were still misleading (at least to me) to some extent. They led me to believe the game would be much faster in pace, when in reality the game is extremely slow paced, specially escort missions. Not to mention that this game actually invited 10x more camping than COD… On a side note, I seriously felt mislead with the attachments. I felt they made it seem we would have so much more attachments/options/combinations, when in reality we don’t have that many. Seriously, three muzzles that are identical?! -_-
Pre-order/demos- I feel you have the right to be upset about that. A lot of people share your views in that they would not have bought/pre-ordered the game if they had tried it before hand. but us as gamer have to learn from these mistakes and not buy new games anymore, or at least wait till we play it through some other means before hand.
Creation- I agree, awesome, for the most part lol. my only problem is with the faces. They were too ugly. This is one of the few things that i feel should be mainstreamed a bit (yes i said it!)
Parkour/smart- Somewhat agree here also. Parkour was overhyped. its a very comfortable feature to have in the game, but its not that innovative. its not the first game to have a player go over obstacles, just the first one to automate it. And park our more often than not is unnecessary.
No doubt, this game has way more flaws, I’m just addressing the ones OP mentioned. Nonetheless I want to clarify that brink is an enjoyable game, but no where close to being perfect. Far from it in fact…
Wow. That’s intense.
Either way, we’ve gotten barraged by 'em since, at least, I joined.
If I could sell this game off, I would. Unfortunately I purchased it during a steam sale and the game is a digital product that I’m stuck with now. I tried to like the game, I even defended it on some other forums, but at the end of the day there are just way too many things that need to be fixed in this game that have gone unaddressed for FAR too long. The steam stats page speaks for itself, from 10,000 players during a free weekend to not even being on the top 100 list anymore in less than a month. I truly feel bad for those that pre-ordered this game and had to apparently go through worse from the start, then to have their pre-order bonuses sold off as paid DLC is just a slap in the face.
I honestly think anyone who got upset about that is shallow and idiotic. = /
Most of the pre-order DLC was crap anyhow (this is a personal opinion, I really don’t care to hear someone’s argument about the DLC, so please don’t bother).
If ANYONE pre-ordered PURELY because the DLC, they pre-ordered it for the wrong reasons and deserved having the items sold anyhow.
And I support ANYTHING that’s going to help out SD.
At least if/until they screw up again (noting Brink’s release).

Right, “shallow and idiotic”. How can you even apply the word shallow to that statement? It blows my mind, but then again I don’t even think you understand the meaning of the word shallow. Anyways, lets defend the companies that use deceptive sale practices and lie to it’s customers then call the people that feel cheated shallow and idiotic. /sarcasm
We got these great exclusive pre-order bonuses for you guys if you pre-order at the full price. Months Later, paid DLC
We got a free DLC package coming for you guys since we feel bad about the failed launch. Weeks later, paid DLC
Brink, ignore dieng communities pleas for fixes and patches, roll out more items to make money.
The sad trend here isn’t people posting their legitimate complaints for a product they spent money on, it’s the inevitable swarm of hardcore club trolls that descend upon every criticism to try and handwave away the problems Brink has and keep on pretending like their sacred cow is without fault.
Their agenda of trying to suppress opinion contrary to theirs is becoming sickening. It’s painfully obvious why they are telling people to only post their problems in one thread, so the people who don’t know better won’t notice that there is a flood of complaints and disgruntled customers who feel burned by this product. By doing so you are being dishonest to any person who comes here not knowing how this game turned out and expecting to get some real opinions before making a purchasing decision. They are just as big liars as Bethesda marketing, except they are doing it for free.
