Ignore this thread, it is unimportant (please read)

(Dawg) #1

I just find it amusing that some people will create a new thread with a non-descriptive title and then add the ‘please read’ part to encourage folks to read it.

WHY should I read this thread? What’s in it for me? Will I get a cookie?

Dawg

p.s. You will notice, of course, that my title is entirely clear and accurate, yet inviting with its whimsical use of the (please read).

(Englander) #2

Ive ignored it

I refuse to even look at my monitor when I see the this thread on my screen… ctrl-alt-delete

(Sauron|EFG) #4

I read everything, but I immediately assume the poster is ignorant ( :eek3: ) if the title is non-descriptive, and especially if it includes “important”, “urgent”, “need help” or any such words.

so do i get i cookie or not :???:

(Crash) #6

COOKIE, COOKIE, COOKIE !!! :bash:

(Ephemera) #7

Is there coffee to go with the cookie? If not, I’m not interested!

(Dawg) #8

There will be no cookies…

There will be no coffee…

There will be only n00bs…

Normally these topics include ranting and/or “funny” pics. I come to these and laugh, not because these are funny, but because these are pathetic!!!

 :bump:

Another that pisses me off is…

New Bug

Then you try to refer another member to this thread, and you can never find the same one twice

Or it is an old bug everyone has read about 10 times over already…

(Wraith2k3) #11

It was more the “Ignore this thread” that enticed me in, not the “please read”. Surefire way to get someone to look at something is to tell them not to.

Yes, hence my comment about non-descriptive titles in the first post. It makes searching for anything difficult.

  1. “Need help” - uh, with what? You wouldn’t be asking a question if you didn’t need help…
  2. “I found a bug” - uh, can’t give a clue as to what type in the title?
  3. “Question” - uh, put a little hint on the subject please.
  4. “Complaint” - uh, so…? STFU!
  5. “Problem with ET” - uh, what kind of problem?
