Bushwacker to me seems like the most useless engineer in the game. For starts his turret only works at assisting you with kills most of the time as its not the strongest however proxy’s mines are much better to use as if you place them correctly they always do damage. Secondly Bushwacker feels awfully squishy, proxy and fletcher are both better as they are harder to hit (in my opinion). In pub & min level 10 servers its usually whatever merc is fastest gets to do the objectives (Bushwacker is the slowest). Overall I’m very disappointed in purchasing bushwacker as he is rendered useless in comparison to other engineers. My last game with him I got 32/6 K/D (highest K/D in the match) and repaired all the generators and still managed to only come 3rd to bottom.

I don’t play competitive however he might be very good in the right hands however he just doesn’t suit me at all and I favour the other engineers over him.

Bushwhacker is easier to play, and more reliable than Mine monkey or Fletcher. You have more reliable weaponry, an easy to use ability. He is the standard beginner merc.

(Cletus_VanDamme) #3

He has the KEK. No other engineer has the KEK. If you’re having a good day with your aiming, and you know where to place the turret, he’s a monster.

(Tom2160) #4

@grumpyBull I use the KEK with him which is fine. My aim is also fine however I just don’t get how I managed to come 3rd to last whilst doing the objectives and getting the most kills in the match. A proxy was at top with something like 12000 score. I can play fine with him I just can’t seem to get high up on the scoreboard with him and I don’t know why. Any ideas?

Well withBushwacker it’s a little tricky he’s rather easy to get into but at that stage not amazing (unless your enemys just blindly rush into your turret which is always fun

(Ctrix) #6

There’s no bad engineer, and not a worst engineer.

(Jostabeere) #7

The KEK does not have it’s former Glory as the uber-SMG, however it’s still far, far from being mediocre or bad.

(n-x) #8

A Proxy will maybe beat you to the first objective, but when you play against a somewhat competent team, they will shut down this rush repair immediatly. Often, a few areas have to be secured before a succesful attempt at the objective can be made. Of course, there are cases were you have those proxy suicide repairs, but with higher skill level they happen less and less.

I guess the problem here is the same like in the Phoenix/Sawbonez discussion. People see: same class, about the same stats (at least for Bush/Fletcher) and think the mercs are to be played similar, whereas they are to be played differently.

(AnimeDude) #9

If you’re flying around a corner with a turret around it, you might as well just press K. I don’t think I’ve ever outdamaged the thing enough to survive that.

(Apofenas) #10

In this game you can probably get 100/0 K/D and still be behind Aura, your pocket medic and Arty that disables EV and throws ammo packs left and right. K/D is not everyting in this game. Bushwhacker is at least better than Thunder, Fragger, Rhino and especially Phantom who get most of xp from killing.

Sometimes i think these mercs should get combat xp multiplier or something.

Now about engineers. Proxy and Fletcher are designed for close combat and have 2 shotguns and only one SMG. Bushwhacker has 3 SMGs including KEK. Proxy is faster, but has lower HP and worst ability, that is denied by experience or Bomb squad. Also dumb Proxy rush usually ends with Arty strie, Laser, Frag nade or…proxy mine.

Fletcher’s ability is better, but fits more for an Assault merc (and seems to be nerfed soon) than for engineer. Turret on the other hand will defend you while you plant/repair or your C4 and such “extra player” guarding objective or some corner is sometimes a better defence/meat shield than 2-3 low level Vassilis combined.

(SereneFlight) #11

Fletcher.
runs far away

(terminal) #12

You’re probably just very very bad.

(watsyurdeal) #13

Proxy is my least favorite, not only due to her health, but the hochfir is probably my least preferred SMG.

She’s by no means bad, just simply not as good as Bush or Fletcher when it comes to health and weapons.

(Rjsto) #14

Are you kidding, Bushwhacker is a goddamn beast

(KattiValk) #15

The turret is a lot harder to counter than mines. Those things take a lot of punishment with Steady or whatever it’s called.

(ZeSpecter) #16

I’d argue that Bushwacker is the best merc repairing-wise because of the turret being automatic. Fletcher have the biggest killing potential out of all the engineers, and will on average have more kills than Bushwacker in a game, but the downside is that for him to utilize his stickies he can’t disarm/repair/plant at the same time. He’s great at clearing areas though. Proxy would probably be the best engineer if you need a quick repair while the EV’s moving or a plant because she’s the quickest at moving and her mines make for good traps. And I’ve always looked at Bushwacker’s turret as more of a diversion than a killing machine.

(Rewolf) #17

All engineers have their uses imo, but if I had to pick a ‘worst’ one, it would be Proxy. Her low health, weak(er) weapons and easier avoidable ability makes her worse compared to Fletcher and Bushwacker.

(Tom2160) #18

I’ve played a bit more with Bushwacker now and he is feeling better to play with now however I still favour fletcher over him as he’s my favourite engineer. Sorry for my slight rant, I may have judged a bit too soon. #PlayDirty

(jollyRacer) #19

Fletcher > Bushwhacker > Proxy, in my opinion.

There’s a reason why bushwhacker’s used more often then the rest in competitive my friend

(Yes) #20

Sure, blame the merc.
