I’m also aware that chatter says that this dev-gag is tighter than most, probably because Beth pushed for the version of Brink we’re playing, rather than what SD hoped to put out.

My point is that allowing the chuntering at both sites to rage on, for a want of a few one-liners that state nothing specific, make no promises and give no timelines make no sense to me.

The dwindling online numbers and dying community would be killing me if I worked at SD, hence the comments I make here, in keeping with the thread topic.

And, in closing, please note the following from my last post:

“No promises made, no timelines given. And allowing about 70% of the negative threads both here and at the Beth site to dry up, leaving the constructive stuff behind.”

Already said they would be much better off addressing the issues they plan to(or not) address to just show acknowledgement. But they are unable to, even if they agree that it makes sense and it’s for the best. So it’s pointless to ask them to do what they can not.

They can’t, they’re not allowed, they want to but can’t, if they posted anything it’s moderated, so their post would be removed if the poster forced it through, or deleted before even being posted live, so they can’t… are you seeing the pattern here? Since you are hellbent on defending splash damage, care to explain what exactly are the legal repercussions to divulging information? Even if it is Bethesda that ‘allows’ what information is shared, what part exactly makes it so inconceivable for Bethesda to allow a SD employee to simply say: “we plan on doing changes to (x Factor) part of the game.” or " Currently we are not working and/or planning on working on implementing/changing (x factor) of the game."

How about this, the game is no longer sole property of Splash Damage? How hard is it to understand? This is just to simplify it, but I’m sure there are several layers of red tape they have to wrap themselves up in. I’m also sure Splash Damage does the same thing to any outsourcing they do when starting a project.

It really has nothing to do with defending them per say… its more like getting the facts straight and putting the blame where it belongs. Though it doesn’t exempt them from criticism.

Being known to break legel contracts and affecting any further development opportunities from other publishers? All of the SD staffs posts are moderated, they have to be approved before they can be posted… this has been stated by SD themselves on many occasions. On several discussions on IRC, when even the most basic of questions has been asked, the response has been “we’re not allowed to say”, in online and video interviews from day one, when probing questions have been asked, the response has been “we’re not allowed to say”. In the very beginning, Rahdo was very open to Q’s, then suddenly stopped and hasn’t posted in a very long, with several pin-point replies only given by certain individuals AFTER their posts have been moderated and approved . All of the new info has been released on the Bethesda/Bethblog website first, with the subsequent relating newspost put on here shortly after by badman. Badman, being the community relations manager is the only person that has ever released details of the game, and only AFTER Bethesda has released the info 1st. Is there anything there so far you would like to offer a counter argument for?

You are right. only bethesda knows why they added those clauses. but that in itself is my point. you dont understand the reason because basically you are not supposed to. and because of that you should not be so arrogant and presumptions and further go and say to other people that they dont have understanding of the business venture when you yourself do not have the knowledge. Basically, dont patronize other people for lacking knowledge that you lack yourself, even if lacking it is ‘understandable’.

Just because i write on a forum that the sky is red doesnt make it true. But then again, if i put a picture of the SD avatar with orange letters then it might actually be true.

This what you aren’t grasping, you don’t need to understand the reason, you just need to know the fact that they can’t… therefore asking them to and complaining that they don’t does no good what so ever. There is enough evidence which I touched upon to give reasonable cause to state that SD are not allowed to reply at will towards any issues stated at this point without Beths say. You don’t need absolute facts to come to a decent conclusion.

You did give me negative rep, it tells you in your Dashboard… and you’re trying to explain my reasoning behind the use of the term, when only I can do that… so no there is no single term for a word, just what you perceive of it. Edit: Clarification, the neg rep you gave was with regards to me asking for evidence of the invulnerability after being revived but still being able to shoot.

You’re kinda going off on a tangent with this one, but we’ll leave it at that. As you say, common sense will say they aren’t going to lie about it, so I’ll stick with that stance and the fact i’ve been here for many of their games and know that this is away from the standard process… suggesting 3rd party intervention. But yes we’ll never know, so going on what I know of them I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt, which only a few can do so.

Ah well. I’ll give it until the DLC drops, to see if it comes with the mega-patch I’m hoping for. If not, I’ll guess I’ll be off.

Whilst I now understand the silence, courtesy of the debate above, I still find it hugely ****ing annoying. I want to see Brink become the huge IP it’s got the potential to be, but i won’t sit around like a bitch, meekly being spoonfed and waiting to find out.

Best Case - The DLC comes with a monster patch…Graphics, bots and all other grumbles/glitches fixed. Much rejoicing ensues.

Worst Case - SD is being gagged because Beth wants the fence-sitters to stick around until the DLC drops, and doesn’t want to admit that the Brink we have now is essentially the final version. We all know how that’ll turn out.

I’m banking on Best Case, given SDs track record - Guess we’ll know soon.
