If a server is full... can I just let it wait on that screen

If a server is full, where it says awaiting connection, can I just let it count up until a free spot is open and then it will join?

Yep you can, eventually when somebody leaves u will connect to the game.

yup it keeps on sending the connection request every second

“Awaiting challenge” = “go make coffee”

Anyone have any idea how many people can be waiting in a queue to get in? And if the answer is “lots”, what (if any) impact does this have on the server (could this help explain lag)?

Damn good question, and I like the answer.

Just be sure to turn your speakers on. That way if you leave the room, you will hear the game music start up when the server lets you in…

Coolhand, I’m guessing it’ll be no different than ASE scanners checking the server’s status every minute or so. It can’t be that much information going back and forth (“Hey, you have a slot open?” “No.”), so I doubt servers will notice the extra drag.

Personally I use the ASE auto-redial feature when I’m trying to get on busy servers during peak hours. That way I can be doing other stuff (like posting on these forums) and it’ll automagically put me in the game when a slot frees up.

So if it’s re-sending a connection request, who gets priority if there’s 5 people waiting? Surely doesn’t seem as if first in queue gets the first slot…

Is it just down to blind luck?

Also, the timer that it uses to send requests… Does it synch that with the server time? i.e. is EVERYBODY in queue sending connect requests at the exact same time, or would it vary depending on when exactly they connected?

This is an interesting thread, something I’ve wondered about for a while.

its just whoever’s connection request gets there first, it all depends on the exact second the person leaves so its basicly luck

The extra second(s) it takes for ET to load reduces the chance to get the slot, so I usually don’t wait in ASE. :eek2:

Woah Woah WOah back it up a second… where can I get ASE? Or do I have it already? :banghead:
