Idle penalty on ranked is BS.

Lul, i forgot how toxic can be this community. Just few guys understood the point.

No one is saying penalties are wrong, they just need a few changes, against trolls not against honest people, which might get a disconnection, due to a thunderstorm, or internet drop, or a pc random crash, defective router…etc etc
I got insulted and accused of being a bad behaviour player just because i took a x2 stack in 12 hours for going idle.

I got back to play this game since last three days (always ranked), and what i see are leavers most of time, people abusing the pause vote, and sometimes very unbalanced matches. Overall a good experience anyway. B)

I’m not surprised that this game is slowly dying, the community is not helping at all. See you on ranked.

In my experience

  • after a match it is technically possible not to immediately queue for the next one and do something else instead
  • the human body has a certain amount of control over it’s bladder so one can typically go to the toilet before or after a match
  • one can switch the phone to silent mode and call or text back after the match
  • if something is a real emergency (as opposed to soap opera drama), sensible people call the ambulance, fire brigade, police or another appropriate institution that has experience in swiftly and competently dealing with their specific case.
  • on evenings that are expected to be busy or messy, turn based strategy games are superior to fast paced shooters.

Now I know people will point out incidents where during their ranked session someone in the room had a heart attack or their kid got badly hurt while playing with the kitchen knife, but if you are honest, these events aren’t the most common reason for you leaving a game.

If you don’t want to change the penalty system to better affect trolls and mitigate penalty against honest players, then Ranked will never grow, and none of you can complain about the low player count.

If you continue to try and defend bad penalty systems and wonder why people aren’t in Ranked, then you’re a special kind of ignorant. There’s a reason why no other games have the same kind of penalty system. There’s a reason why other games utilize the reporting tool and review reports, and there’s a reason why other team games rank your personal performance unrelated to the team’s overall performance. And there’s a reason why all of these games have a more robust and popular ranked system than DB.

A ton of games have similar models? Many of which have even harsher penalties and stricter enforcement. LoL and DOTA clones, the new Gears and Halo, Overwatch, likely CS and Rocket League from what I remember, just about every competitive fighter genre, and so on…

@bgyoshi : But someone AFK in Ranked isn’t an “honest” player… He’s a troll. There is no technical issue here and there is already a vote pause for emergencies. Ranked won’t be better with more AFK guys. This is the topic of a Troll.

None of these games have as short of an afk timer (if any) as DB and all of them have a better system to catch actual trolls instead of people answering their phone or the door. None of them stack minor penalties over a 12 hour window and none of them impart timed bans for 2 minor penalties either. Hell Overwatch itself doesn’t penalize idle players, you only get penalized for LEAVING the match after team assembly and before the match end. They rely on their reporting system and have expanded its capabilities. DB sits here with some ridiculously short afk timer and ignores their reporting system completely. Spare me.

This thread isn’t about afk guys, it’s about people that have to do something for less than a minute receiving a penalty stack if it happens more than once every 12 hours.

Nobody has even tried to answer why a 12 hour window for penalty stacks is somehow better than a 2 hour window. Who cares if a troll is ruining 2 games every 2 hours? Stacking over 12 hours isn’t inherently mitigating more trolls than people that have something fast come up.

A troll ruining 2 games every 2 hours.

This is still a tiny fraction of matches in the grand scheme of the game. Players won’t consider quitting Ranked due to its requirement for such a huge amount of uninterrupted time, more people will stick with Ranked, and more people will leave the casual scene to play Ranked, which will significantly reduce the percentage of trolls.

In the other scenario, trolls ruin less games, but less people want to play. Too much uninterrupted time is required and you run the risk of getting banned if ANYTHING takes your attention away from DB for less than a minute. Less players increases queue times, causes a larger balance rift, and makes Ranked look extremely uninviting.

Yep, take your break AFTER the match has concluded, they don’t last more than 30 minutes.

lol this has nothing to do with toxic behavior… it is rather toxic that you are trying to spread your hate with overexaggeration of something which is not true at all. You are trying to poison other players with your kind. Instead of constructive arguments you just cry around and after you saw that the community didn’t jump on the bandwagon, you crawled back by saying: I only have something against the stacking of penalties…

You fell into your own post, trying to overturn reality. Since my first post i was talking about IDLE stack, i said i was and still are a supporter about PENALTIES on ranked. I was talking, and still talking, is about IDLE STACK, which sometimes could no be fair, so some few tweaks would be nice. Besides, your answer proves once again, the toxicity of the community. Try again.

people who disagree with you, are not called toxic. they just disagree with you. But ok. I can explain your own post to yourself, if you want:

  • first you complain about that you can’t play because you got punished for idleing in ranked games. which is 2h suspension if it happened in 12 h
  • this was especially problematic for you since you wanted to play all day dirty bomb
  • then you pointed out, that you get interrupted on a regular basis by phone calls, diarrhea, thieves, door bells, earth quakes and the like
  • you emphasize especially that these are daily situations
  • you blame the devs for being unreasonable, for hindering playerbase extension and ultimately for players uninstalling the game

And why, I must ask?
Because they implemented measures to try to combat abusive behavior of other players, making the experience for the rest of the ranked game miserable. Players leaving after a failed first attack, afking to do more important stuff, team killing… this is just not nice and is one of the reason why players despise ranked (besides a bad matchmaking)!

And now, why I am toxic in this whole thing? I am just trying to make you think about the mistakes you do, not the mistakes others do.

If this is more about the IDLE STACK then post it like that and why the STACK punishment is bad vs NO STACK punishment. The title and how you posted just makes everybody think, that you don’t want to be punished when you have to afk for something else.

For the record, i just met a piece of s___t which was going idle on purpose. That was pretty bad.
Literally 15 minutes wasted, and of course, no one was accepting the surrender vote.

How can i call the kick vote ? I just see the pause/ surrender vote.

havent play solo anymore since the start of this season
