ideas from titanfall
I think it’s maybe your love for ET that’s getting in the way here, and I totally understand because I used to do this years ago. TF having a movement system to learn takes nothing away from ET, we all know ET required skill and I will say that it took a lot more practice to master than TF movement ever will. TF’s movement is also coupled with it’s maps, it’s not just a case of knowing how to wall run or jump, it’s finding the fastest chained routes that generate the most consistent momentum and not ****ing it up in the process. Making it from one end of the map to the other with pure wall running alone has to take some skill, and saying otherwise is silly.
well maybe because i have my own opinion and be not a blind lemming.
only because many think its good it must not be. look at americans which rly believe they are the greatest country and in reality the most are dumb like frogs.
Darkangel is right. And there actually are a couple animations depending on how close you got to a ledge, the lower you got to a ledge the longer it takes to climb up. So there are degrees of failure in case you make a short jump or double jump too early or too late or even lack momentum to make the jump.
i agree but i also dont. learning how to strafe jump isnt really that tough, but learning the maps and knowing the best path to continue the speed is really what makes it challenging, whereas in quake, its all about air, and map control. i feel like TF movement has these things, and as the game gets older, we’ll people flying across the maps and stringing a ton of walls together gaining speed, akin to strafe jumping.

if you take my words take it complete not half of the sentence to take it out of context
keep the personal stuff outside of this thread. In this topic are good ideas/comments, would be a shame if we close it because of some personal bitch fight.
I agree with what you said last big time. Not only are there so many paths to learn and optimize your speed on, you throw something like stim in and then there are probably a couple more really fast lanes opened up. And these are just the first maps respawn put forth. I feel like if they don’t take a nose dive like IW did, by putting themselves on cruise control, and actually work hard to keep improving their game then the potential of TF as a game that matures into long term game is really there.
I would like them to add another competitive mode aside from CTF though. I feel like that is the main mode in the game atm. Last titan standing comes in as second, even though I don’t like that mode too much but probably because pubs it is just so lopsided win or loss usually. Hardpoint is the third and I guess I could even see that being played more competitively than LTS depending on the maps played (I haven’t played much hardpoint outside of the beta).
agree completely. ctf is a ton of fun, and i was happily shocked by how much fun LTS is. i guess maybe ive had a lot of luck getting decent groups to play with, but im also really vocal in game. people do respond well to it. hardpoint is a classic mode, and i enjoy playing it personally, even though i hate camping
LTS is pretty teamwork based, which is probably why it results in lopsided outcomes often. I feel like I do well and everyone else just dies really fast often lol… or my team just steamrolls the opposing team. That happens just as often. A real balanced match is really fun though and I can see a lot of strategy going into titan builds and positioning and maneuvers.
LTS reminds me a lot of Hawken, people must group together to succeed. If you’re caught on your own then you’re screwed, and the for the most part people Rambo in and get humped. This for me is a reason I personally don’t enjoy LTS, because there’s maybe too much emphasis on team play… as in keep your team in view and don’t ever lose them. I don’t like games wedge players into a playstyle. But again that’s just me.
Uh oh, someone mad about the idea that women or gay people should’t be treated badly? I bet you were FORCED to click on articles you didn’t want to read.
I first thought I would ignore this obvious flame bait. But I decided that I would respond. You are a douche bag for that post and the implications. You know nothing about me. How dare you make such stupid and outrageously slanderous statements about me.
I am setting you to ignore so I don’t have to deal with such trash on this forum.
edit: Sorry to others enjoying the discussion in this thread. I just didn’t want to have this slanderous statement go unasnwered.
I tried the full now at a friends place and must say I’m glad I didn’t buy. There aren’t any new modes and the rounds are so short that even the casual players won’t be amused I assume. 90secs waiting time in-between EACH SINGLE MAP, are they serious? Not to mention the missing server browser…
Typical casual console game, so nothing for me.
