Idea's for Next Patch

Its been awhile since I have really dug into the Balance like I used too…

I have over 2000 Minutes on this new patch… At least that’s what it was and after thinking about it that cant be true can it haha! Thats 5.5 Hours a week… So maybe…

SMOOTH! I know you are already tweaking for the next patch so you can tell me how close I am but here are my suggestions.

Sniper Val:
*Reduce Body Damage by 10%
- That is all I am going to suggest for now… Sniping is overly Easy…

Arty:
I love Arty but only when I am the only one playing Arty haha. Everyone is catching on and we had 50% of the team as Arty last night. It was a little ridiculous.
*Reduce Body Damage by 25%
*Reduce ROF by 100 ms
*Keep Head-shots the same! Make Artys work for it!

Phoenix:
BUFF Slightly…
I am getting soooooo many Head-shots it is ridiculous!
You moved his Damage to 8! Put it back at 9! Please! He feels so right That way!
Self Heal a little Faster (1 second faster!)

Saw:
For some reason I am not liking Saw’s gun. Mostly used in Euro servers but still with his movement and rlrlr the gun feels off. Especially when crouch shoot. That little gun should be right now.
Not sure what to do something little on spread recover or something… Should be dinking heads with him.

BOTH Saw and Phoenix should be able in my mind to Gib and Gib Fast at Mid Range Crouched and Hip fire. (No Iron Sights!!) I still find my bullets tend to stray when I am still, crouching and gibbing someone. Fast Fast Fast this needs to be right on. I dont want to use iron-sights to mid-range gib!

Thunder and Fragger:
This big guys are ment to be the killing classes however vs an Arty they are slow and useless. They almost need a rino feel to achieve your thinking on leading frags and being the #1 killer. You should focus on an advanced move like not moving that will make their gun crazy accurate.

  • Side Note - This will appeal to the non-ET crowd that can just putz into a fire fight and own everyone. Honestly I could never do it! I need to be moving and moving fast. I want Head-shots! Playing Phoenix and going against thinking I got this and getting what like 13 head-shots and he’s still at 45% hp! I about flip my table over! Give them a bi-pod and prone or something to lay down fire. Reward HS more? They need something…

Shotguns:
Tweak Fall off Damage!!! Mid-range the things should be useless! I got sniped in 3 shots across the map yesterday! I was like wtf!

Engy:
Turrets piss me off - That is all

Are we just testing the Arty - Arty Dot? Why can enemy’s see this? Also the other air strike… They should just be able to see the Can and not the red line telling everyone what direction it is going to fall. Only friendlys should see the direction. Enemy’s need to clear out totally.

Things that need Focus:

#1) Fall Off Damage (All Guns)
#2) Crouch Reward
#3) Continue to Tweak Spread Recovery
#4) Movement Art Pass - Collisions with Walls, Stairs, other players, Ground effects like pipes and ramp covers.
#5) Player Contrast Art?
#6) Possible Adding a Helmet that Takes Damage and flys off. (On Tank Mercs)
#7) Crouch Reward and Crouch + Side Motion Low Spread.
#8) Reward Head-Shots!!!
#9) Increase Ammo and other Radius’s
#10) Fix MG’s! OMG — Fix Ammo Boxes also and Radius.
#11) Add Add-On Sights! Game is going to flip on its head when I get a red dot!!!
#12) Fix Medic paddle revives. Area to small or something weird…

How is the TTK everyone? Some Mercs it is to Fast and Some it is too slow! After thinking about it I think it is longer then ET. 3 Tinks in 3 and boom dead. Here with arty its close to that but thats really the only class. (Sniper whatever)

SD will probably keep making the guns more accorate so the TTk will continue to drop so in the future weapon damage might need to be tweaked on a global basis.

This only happens when Val spots you right?

  • Maybe make it so they only appear on the mini map?

That would be ideal, hell I can even stand if only sniper has wh, but not entire enemy team! I dont recall any game with such a stupid feature, even in BF you cant see spotted players when they are behind the wall

@shotgun falloff dmg. i personally think that the right way to fix shotguns is to increase angle of spread. so less bullets hit you @ midrange. and mb start fall off only for long distance.

falloff at midrange will cause mass frustration. because it will be very incosictant weapon since the speed is very high. and now you hit full dmg, but in a second you get falloff damage, and do not kill anyone. but with spread increase, you will literally see those bullets that miss, and will try to reach you opponent closer. like it perfectly works in quakelive.

only question is: how does tank get his helmet back? only after respawn, or from medic, or from field-ops?

I have always thought this was be an amazing idea! Spotting players just slows the game down.

It’s not going to be removed.

It should probably get a smaller radius, it currently covers way too much ground and there isn’t really any skill in placing it. Ideally to use it well you should be landing it on a specific choke or location, otherwise the throw is wasted.

Other option is we go the 2142/Dystopia route and it becomes a sonar style detection, where enemies only appear for a couple of frames every 2-3 seconds, so you see snapshots of the enemy locations.

The 2 options together ? Smaller radius with sonar style detection ?
With the actual radar Vassily is clearly OP !

I think that the uptime of the radar-thingy is way too long. If you’re playing against good vasilis. Either you don’t find it or it’s in a spot you can’t reach without getting your brain splattered over the wall :eek:

radar is ok, with some tweaks it will be fine - usefull, but not abusive.

Radar/Spotting isn’t OP. I don’t think sonar is necessary but a smaller radius is. Since the maps are so tight the grenade spots everyone.

You could try fixing the maps first and then tweak the nade if necessary. Just don’t do your standard double/triple nerf to uselessness and say that it’s what the community wanted…

Vasilli: agreed with Stinger, his sensor is way too good. I can’t imagine it getting even better (saw in a dev video that they want to make it have a longer cooldown but last forever?)… it should bare minimum emit a beep so the sensor is easier to find? Or maybe the sensor should only show blips, and not track the targets? (that can still happen on body shots though)

Arty: I just think he can run and gun a little too well, and yeah maybe the ROF is too high. Always feels like I die instantly but could be that I’m always playing with bad ping. Like you said he’s the only merc that feels like ET’s TTK. If the other guys all had way faster TTK he’d be fine. I personally like the slower TTK so I’d rather see him get nerfed personally, although it doesn’t have to be a straight DPS nerf, just make him have to actually aim…

Medics: disagree about the guns, the SMGs are amazing, honestly I feel like sawbonez is even better than the non-Arty support rifles… almost no recoil or spread even when going crazy and walljumping around someones head, I dunno, it’s a lot of fun but they feel fine at best, overpowered at worst. And their ability to run behind a piece of cover and heal a little is definitely not to be ignored, even against an offense medic they can usually at least have effectively 120+ hp in a fight if there’s any cover around.

Also I feel like phoenix needs to self-rez at 50% hp at least. 25% is too harsh. Not sure about the self heal faster speed, but it couldn’t hurt, sawbonez is still the uncontested king of healing afterall. Actually instead of faster speed make the radius like twice or three times as big, nothing makes me rage harder than being right next to someone running and missing the aura heal due to lag or whatever… but it happens a LOT. Some kind of visual to show how big it actually is would help a lot here.

Agreed about the assault guys (thunder/fragger), they’ve always been outshined by the support rifles I feel. I’d love to see them become slower and tankier, or something… maybe they don’t get any view punch on being damaged? also I feel like it’s a bit silly that they can longjump/walljump, but that’s just me. Anti-headshot helmet sounds great

Shotguns: finally a game where shotguns are halfway viable? sheeeeit… just let it be baby

Turret: it’s finally decent, sure it’s really annoying but thats what turrets always are lol. could make the laser longer so it’s harder to hide around corners I guess. Fits perfectly with the “not paying attention = death” engineer design though.

Merc model contrast is actually a big point, somewhere along the line it seems to have gotten worse, if you remember back when T-rat was a new merc and it was impossible to tell if he was gibbed or not, it feels like EVERYONE is that way now (thankfully the dead-but-not-gibbed animation is there). Everything is just super grey.

Dunno about red dot sights, I feel like sights play a key role in balance atm (i.e. stoker’s gun is way harder to ironsight with but better than skyhammers? dunno) … interchangable weapon parts are cool but that’s a pretty big can of worms.

Medic revive seems to be same for me as always… but it’s never been perfect with the weird places bodies can get into. Having to charge them is a great mechanic, but it does make misses way more frustrating.

Not sure if this has been mentioned already, instead of nerfing heartbeat - give us options to counter it (PixelTwitch brought me that idea). For example a merc with EMP nade to disable those things. A drone giving a fake heartbeat. A merc which can cloak his heartbeat. A merc which canplace fake heartbeats…

exactly, because he’s bad. Can’t heal worth a damn and self-rez is just a self-troll 99% of the time because he will just die instantly.

Even in the rare case in which he dies in a perfect spot such that he doesn’t get gibbed, AND a teammate wipes everything around him giving him space to get up and go hide, he’s still a crappy medic because he can’t keep a team healed… gg

I am so confused… A noob medic because of Auto Revive? Like Twin said 99% of the time that ability never gets used… And if you do use it you will get another insta death.

If you are not gibbed you should autorevive on a team or squad mate or have a choice to auto revive at the same location. That would make it a little more effective. However everyone knows you can auto revive so they are gibbing you 99% of the time. So mostly useless.

His medic skill also suck! If I heal my team it is only my accident. I have no feel of range and the timing is so slow!

Change his Gun Damage “back” to 9.
Fix his medic ability somehow make is faster or give him the spark packs…
Fix his ability:

  • Make him ungibbable
  • Make him a ghost medic
  • When he dies he’s body disappears and can be insta spawned on a team make or squad mate if he’s ability isnt in cool down.

Make medics useful again! and encourage team work!!!

STOP THIS MEDIC PACK STOP HEALING IF YOU TAKE A BULLET CRAP!!! (Or at least let us test it!!!)

I played the engy with the turret last night. Wow does his gun suck!! You move one inch and the spread goes nutz. Never playing that class again.

On the other hand I also tried Rino for a long period of time. OP, slow and Boring. Arty can take him out at close range but you need to be popping heads.

  • All other classes at close range no chance. Kind of dumb.

The balance and counter balance in this game needs a lot of work.

You are keeping the spirit of a game like RTCW, ET and ET:QW however you are cutting out the core fundamentals of those games that made them the best SW games ever.

TEAMWORK!!! Medic’s should always be the most annoying class!!!
