Idea for Heavies: Bull Rush

(AmishWarMachine) #21

I’m curious if GreasedScotsman and/or any other competitive-level player think this (Bull Rush), or something like it, would have any effect on team make-up?

(read: reducing lights from what seems like 90% of the competitive population’s choice for body type)
I’m sitting here at work, not wanting to, and I had a thought.

What if Heavies had an innate ability to bull rush the opponent?

What I’m thinking is: As a heavy, if I run into a light or medium opponent, that it knocks them down.

It could be triggered via the SMART button. Or just happen upon character collision.

Imagine the combination of Bull Rush + Adrenaline against a room full of lights defending the objective.

Heavies could be relevant!

Thoughts?
I think that is a brilliant idea actually.

(Jess Alon) #23

They should be able to sexually assault lights… in addition to this bullrush.

(Zarel) #24

…I don’t know. It does sound fun, but even with adrenaline rush, hmmm. The first thought that sticked to me is; imagining doing that, ability wears off. See enemies surrounding him, “oh ****”. But to buff it to become an effective ability?..

I find this an ability that hangs in a very thin line between “useless novel” and “gamebreaker”, like the “grenade shooting”. But then again, no matter how I feel irked to this, it’s Brink, guess it could* fit.
My vision of it would be the heavy lowering their shoulder, and “hitting the truck-stick”.

Think Ray Lewis de-cleating Chad Ochocino.
I see where you’re coming from. I sort of voted no on first reaction, which was a little stupid of me, I apologize. But I could see this being well implemented. If they did it right, it might be pretty cool, although scary as heck from a light perspective.

Edit: Also, I would like the Heavy to become more useful, maybe then I’ll start playing as one. I play mostly lights just because that fits my playstyle. I’m serious, I had light operative picked out as soon as I found out about the body types and classes, it disappointed me to see this being a popular choice when the game came out, thus making my choice unoriginal. Honestly, when I picked out light pre-game, I thought it was going to be the least used body type, because I knew a lot of people would instantly be attracted to Heavy. It seems that was right in a way, but a lot of people don’t play as them because of the imbalance. So yeah, it would be cool to see a little more balance between body types, honestly light should not be the most used.

(AmishWarMachine) #26

But only if the light has Nutslacks equipped.

(AmishWarMachine) #27

Hide yo’ kids, hide yo’ wife, they bull-rushin’ everyone up in here.

(thrill11) #28

. But would it be that useful? Theres already sliding which is much better than just charging at the enemy.

(AmishWarMachine) #29

IMO, I think it would.

As a heavy, recovering from a slide-tackle is painfully slow. So, for heavies, slide-tackling isn’t anywhere near viable for use in combat, like it can be and is for medium and light body types.

Based on my experience of the body types’ movement speeds, a bull-rush > turn-around > shoot knockdown’d enemy would be the equivalent of a light slide-tackle > turn around > shoot knockdown’d enemy.

Levelling that particular playing field.

Interesting idea. Something to emphasiez on their body weight/structure superiority. I also thought about making the melee damage a bit higher for heavies, but I don’t know how this would balance out. So you can either bullrush them or just melee them down with a higher chance to kill them because your melee would have damaged them more, while still knocking them down (important because you need to break the CARB bullet flows, otherwise any initiative is useless)

(Zarel) #31

Say, I’d rather have increased health and increased melee damage for heavies than a bull-rush ability.

(H0RSE) #32

It sounds like a good idea, and makes sense - Lights get more use of SMART, so Heavies should have their own “unique” movement abilities. It could work like a slide takedown, but with regular sprint, and the more people you plow over, the slower you get.

Also thought that a melee attack with a weapon from a Heavy, should do more damage than if a Light or Medium melee’s you. And a weapon butt with a Heavy weapon should/could outright incapacitate you.

(tokamak) #33

Lights have NOTHING besides their movement. Heavies should only be redeemed by superior firepower. Add mobility options to them and you’ll muddle the different strengths of the bodytypes and thus make the game even less interesting.

(NthLegion) #34

I think heavies should just be immune to knock-down from lights, both slide tackle and melee hit. If a light wants to knock down a heavy, they should have to use a grenade. Bull rush doesn’t hold that much appeal for me.

(H0RSE) #35

They also have their speed, unless you are considering movement and speed the same thing.

Also, they may not have “NOTHING” besides their movement, but mastering that movement can make a player deadly. The Lights are able to interact with the environment on a level that is unheard of for Heavies.

(AmishWarMachine) #36

I kinda see where you’re coming from, but if they also implemented what HandOfGod suggested (post #7)…

…I think that, at least some of your worry is mitigated?

(Jess Alon) #37

I think this bull rush would be even more awesome if the heavy had a .5 second invincibility to close the gap if they are close. And it has to recharge.

I say this not to make heavies overpowered. But most people can mow a heavy down at point blank because they fill your crosshairs and you can’t miss them. This half a second would allow smart heavy players to be more effective up close.

(V1cK_dB) #38

Yeah! Lets increase damage for all Heavy weapons…increase their health and decrease all weapon damage used by lights and eliminate hipfiring in the game effectively making it the complete opposite of what SD games are supposedly all about.

Bullrush for heavies…lol…whatever.

Lets start a new poll. Heavies that get powerups that put them in a suit with a tail that enables them to fly! Then when they get 5 kills in a row they can detonate a nuclear bomb and kill all of the lights on the other team! YEAH!!! How kewl is that huH?!!

…Just gimme a freakin gun with good shooting mechanics (low spread/accurate). That’s all I need to eliminate all u turds posting this ridiculous crap.

Don’t be shy now, tell us how you really feel.

I like suit with a tail idea, tho. but it can’t be used with the nutslacks. that would be OP.

Lol…yeah I went a little overboard. Kinda. Just frustrated at this game. I want it to be good. I HATE COD and there isn’t anything else to play. I guess I can go back to W:ET lol.
