Idea for db 1.0 beta fighter recognition

(Mc1412013) #1

@stayfreshshoe In todays dev video the devs talked about alowing clan tag color like the sd/former nxa tags

I was thinking couldnt something like that be done for the players name or add a logo at the end of the name so while in cmm or ranked we can be recognized. We wont always be using a beta fighter load out(if they do that)

Beta fighters get one logo or color and alpha fighters would get either a 2nd logo pr different logo and a different color

I really like this idea tbh. Just have to make sure it’s not done in a way that alienates new players or otherwise misleads them into thinking the others are some kind of special authority figure.

Like, a star or something at the end of a person’s name might give the idea that that person is a mod or has some paid feature. Sure it’s not hard to correct that person, but first impressions are important, so it’s best to avoid that confusion if at all possible.
Maybe I’m thinking too much into it, but better safe than sorry I guess, lol

New players are bound to complain no matter what though, people will complain about anything and everything.

Similar system what it is in ET would be great. Maybe add small nickname tuner to menu. Check this out: http://teammuppet.eu/home/color-name-generator/#^hH^be^9n^bk^hi^d0^40^>0

I agree with this idea. Testers should have their own colors, logos and cards to show their support for the game. There r plenty of ppl here who have given alot of support and feedback and recognition should be shown for their time.

Damn you, now I can’t get this song out of my head:

I dont mind the idea, however more important is the need to register clans so clantags cannot be worn by non clan members.

Excuse my ignorance, but how exactly would such a system work from a technical point of view? I suppose SD would somehow have to provide a password protected page where people could register their Steam ID to a certain clan tag?

Well, in MMO, you’ll often find guild system. You create your own guild, the system checks if the name doesn’t exist, chiefs can manage the guild and people who are in, and invite players to the guild. Can’t see why such a system wouldn’t work here.

tbh one of my favourite things to do when I find a clan playing together is to set my clantag to theirs. It’s just a joke, I’ve never gotten any backlash from it and have actually made a lot of great friends like that.
I’ve never once seen anyone else try to “steal” someone else’s clantag besides myself though, in all the hours I’ve been here. Does this really happen often?

I mean, even if it did happen occasionally, it’s not like DB has a very big competitive scene. And even less so a proper “clan” scene. There are only a handful of notable ones active.
Besides, in casual it doesn’t really matter anyways, and in a proper tournament I can’t see how a poser would be let in in the first place.

I’m just not sure how something that would only marginally affect a small handful of players should be much of a priority.
It’s like putting security on a pile of rocks instead of DB’s other 10 billion issues, something that pretty much no one would touch anwyays, lol

That’s probably because you don’t act like a dick. If I would set my clan tag to [fE] and start harassing people I am sure they wouldn’t be too pleased about it.

Does anyone actually do that though? Like I said, I haven’t even seen anyone else do it as a joke, much less to slander.

Besides, most of DB’s major clans aren’t exactly free of legitimate members who act toxic either, lol. I know it’s not much of an excuse, but I can’t see it making much of an impact.

Might not be seen but it can happen and it does in other games. Once ppl here saw they could get away with it ud see it all the time.

Dont think thats a priority right now

@STARRYSOCK I get 10 to 20 steam messages a month about BLOOD guys being dicks…but they are not in our clan they put tags on then piss peeps off.

@kopyright I have explained how in previous posts and in more detail, but War Thunder has a registration system that costs about $5 to register clan then peeps can apply or be invited by the leader/members. Tags are automatically applied to accepted players.

@Mc1412013 well if they want to add colorful tags I would say that is not a priority either. My point is if you want peeps to have tags and play as clans then allow us to control it.

Instead of all that, DB should only let players use clan tags from their steam group. For example, you make a steam group with the clan tag BLOOD. Then only people in that group, have the option to use it in the settings. (Steam groups require different tags for each group)

@Splicerrr yep I would be most happy with that!

That is also a viable option. But as most here id say special clan tags and symbols are not as important as getting the game to a more stable and balanced state, as well as thanking all the testers from the betas thru early access for helping to not only develop the game but continuing to play after all this time and things that have gone on to date. That would mean if you dont play the game anymore u wouldnt get all the gifts.

@STARRYSOCK I personally have met 5? different people, two-three of which are on my friends list that have intentionally taken another clan’s clan tag and then were intentionally either slanderous or impersonating someone else. In fact, one of said people took an Alpha member’s name as his steam name, and took the same clan tag of the original guy and claimed his mic wasn’t working so he got carried by teams that expected him to be of some caliber. He was, just nowhere near the guy that he was impersonating. I’ve also seen some fE fakers and some SoloQ fakers as well.

So to say “does that ever happen” Yes, it does freaking happen. Does it happen often? I don’t know what you call frequent, but one of my friends has completely changed his name over after someone else took all of his account details and literally used the same picture on Steam and everything else (and said person has even confused me a couple times and STILL uses his copied profile to this date from almost 6 months ago), his clan was partially affected too.
