“As an example the programmer we just hired to do bots for enemy territory came directly out of the mod community”, by robert duffy around 13.25

Interesting…

The Future Of FritzBot… | Posted by Maleficus at 17:05 on 24 Jun 2006
…
I’m leaving to start a new job in the game industry, working for ID Software!

(Lanz) #6

The thing that got my attention wasn’t the new guy since that was old news, but the fact that he’s working on bots for et:qw.

#7

So, we’re gettin’ a Battlefield style singleplayer, with that exception we’ll have good bots

(Popcorn) #8

Yeah, I’ve played with the newest version of those bots and they are very realistic. I hope they have different levels of skill though. The fritzbots in W:ET are far from nooby.

(Nishua) #9

Checking out this video now. Hopefully the questions will be good and not redundant.

At 38:30 they confirm that ETQW is multithreaded (i.e. multicore support).

(Black_Forky) #11

Yay

now that E3 as it was is dead, i hope todd hollenshead really considers what he said in the interview, namely that id will make more of quakecon. quakecon as it is kinda sucks for those who can’t be there at the other side of the planet. if it weren’t for planetquake4.net we wouldn’t have gotten any info at all :frowning:

so again a big THANKS!!! to RogeR

ps: i hope he puts up some QW gameplay vidz and the missing SD workshop

(mortis) #13

kudos to planetquake4.net

(JamieL) #14

Yup, huge kudos to planetquake4.net. Otherwise, we’d be in the dark on how Quakecon went, to be honest. In fact, every major game website sourced or linked to the videos that Quakecon did, so I’m sure they know what an important service they were. HD footage that you didn’t have to even pay or subscribe for? AWESOME.
