ID pwnd SD?

YVG: Do the Splash Damage guys have an advantage? Are they better than you guys at id since they made the game?

KC: No, no. Of course not. What are you talking about? That’s terrible.

YVG: I would think they’d have an advantage.

KC: The thing is that they’ve really got some tremendous players over at Splash Damage, but, well, let’s just say we’ve got some pretty good players at id.

I don’t see black on white tapir proof that id “pwnd” SD.

I remember the forum vs. sd matches and until we got mixed teams those matches were very one sided. Maybe sd hold back to not embarrass the forum folks, but I guess they are far much better in making great games then doing scrims (one reason might be they simply don’t have time to “train” for hours each day ;)).

They do play the game at least once a day… But so does id, I guess.

The forum v SD matches were hilarious. We had a bunch of new staff who’d never played Wolf before, and were simply swept from the scoreboard. You could see the forum players hesitating, thinking “Is this a trick? Are they lulling us in a false sense of security?..a…VERY secure false sense of security…”

The forum-SD games were fun!
Sort of :cyclops:

You hire people that haven’t played Wolf before? Outrage!

You could at least have told them not to wreck the tank.
(Sorry for repeating my one joke.)

Jokes aside, the SD server used to be a lot of fun back in the day. The SD players were good enough to have fun on a decent quality pub, and bad enough for the other people to have fun as well. I really hope it will stay that way in ETQW.

The tank just gave up because it was map 3 of 1 and it decided it really shouldn’t be there anymore.

(cheesecake) #10

That sounded like it was a lot of fun I hope they do that for etqw will be nice to get my arse kicked by SD staff

(Gringo) #11

It’d be hella fun!

(murka) #12

and if they would lose… will they use cheats like add hp a little xD

(Domipheus) #13

I can’t remember those games.

Must have been my “I’m going to fail my degree - I’d better start studying” phase

(cptwhistlepants) #14

Damn, wish I was here to see that. Seriously, you guys should make it a requirement for potential employees to have put in at least 200 hours of ET or they get laughed at and booted out the door

(Gringo) #15

200 hours is far too little. It needs to be at least 1000! Ive got 976 so in 24 hours time i hope to get a job!

(ayatollah) #16

I have 1081 hours, so I’m a shoo in!

Still the best game of ETQW I’ve played happened right at the end of E3 last year. The show had closed to the public and all the other exhibitors were tearing down their stands and streaming out past us (ATVI had a nice spot right near the entrance/exit). And after three solid days of barking/pointing/hooting/coaching members of the public how to play the game, we were ravenous finally got a chance to play each other.

There’s still some debate over the exact composition of the teams. I claim it was basically SD v id, with some ATVI bodies making up the numbers. Some see it as SD v id + ATVI, some as SD + ATVI v id. All I know is that id lost. You know, like, really badly. Just shamefully badly. Maybe the sun was in their eyes. Maybe they got confused. Maybe they all suddenly remembered they’d left a pan on the stove. It can happen. Terrible thing.
