did he actually dress up like that? He should dress up like that at any convention when he wants to talk about pirates.

they should do a game that’s pirates vs ninjas

or how about a game with more than 2 factions in one round.

that’s something I haven’t seen except in a HL mod.

considering more than 2 factions, Wolf ET should have had more than 2 factions. Maybe 3? It would be the same face, just different unis with the british flag instead of the american flag for african campaign.

Being a game ET does not necessarily need to have only 2 factions you know.

There was that interview with Carmack and Hollenshed, where they said they like to stick to more “fantasy/futuristic” settings rather than boring ol’ present day. I guess that doesn’t directly effect Splash Damage, but they do work pretty close to Id. I have no idea what the next setting could be, but I think medieval could be interesting…

Also, what’s wrong with just 2 factions? It’s simple, proven and balanced. 3-4 way maps always end up in a clusterfuck of chaos and unpopularity. (Red team attacks blue team, while blue is grabbing yellow’s flag and green is killing yellow guy carrying red’s flag, while everyone fights over the Quad Dmg spawn in the center, etc.) I remember playing a 3-way CTF map on Quake 2 like… once or twice ever. No one ever ran those 4-way Q3F maps either when the to-become-SD mod team put em in, like Spazball or the snowy castle 4-way CTF.

you know that 2 of the many factions can be at one map at the same time you know right?

Each map would have programmed to have these two specific factions play, like in call of duty 2.

I’ve never played the Call of Duty series of games actually!

But I’m guessing the factions in a realistic warfare game like that are just separate nations, and they play functionally the same whether they’re British, French, American, Russian or whatever. They’re all humans that fire various automatic rifles and throw grenades. I don’t think it would be meaningful to have multiple factions unless they were functionally different, like the Zerg-Terran-Protoss triad of Starcraft or Alliance-Horde-Sentinels-Scourge of Warcraft 3. Or the GDF and Strogg =P.

I’m a huge fan of War3 by the way, even though I wasn’t good and lost a ton especially on 1v1. You always feel like the other races have huge advantages over yours at one thing or another, at least I felt that way while constantly trying to come up with strategies to combat each strategy of each race. I don’t expect an action based game like ET to be able to balance 3-4 truly unique factions. Even if you restrict it to 1 faction vs 1 faction, it would be hard to balance the subtleties.

Pac-Man Territory?

I think id has them… but that would be awesome, casting dark spells on axis or Strogg or gay leprechauns in a tiny pink bikini
