World Of Commander Duke in Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, Ultimate Doom?

(Salteh) #22

Enemy Territory: Tapir Wars
Obviously! :tapir:

(shadrach) #23

Assassination, good times, the mirror in the bathroom was the first I ever saw in RTCW. Dynamite the wall and there’s Hitler w/his hands up, lol. 1 shot ends the map. Hummer’s first map I think.

ET: Doom Wars is way too cliché. The original article that was linked seemed to lack any real information. Enemy Territory could head into a more realistic and modern day tactical game, like Battlefield+Ghost Recon. I would rather play this game before I start thinking of other games to play though.

ET: Duke forever

(DerSaidin) #26

Imo, just get W:ET and ETPro (with permission) then port it to ET:QW engine, port default maps and a variety of custom maps (with permission) - have SD mappers go through and actually make them look good for new engine. On top of this, make like 12 more official W:ET style maps.

Remodel players/weapons/tanks/etc.

Release.

I’m pretty sure everyone who’s played W:ET would buy that.

(Nail) #27

sounds like ET2, don’t count it out

(amazinglarry) #28

Ugh - if ET ever became some modern day realistic tactical shooter, that would be the end of the ET ‘franchise’ for me. No games bore me more than those.

…or you could just go play Battlefield+Ghost Recon… keep ET like ET plz

You’re right, ET isn’t America’s Army or anything, but it was just a thought. Its been so long since I played W:ET, and the thing that really caught my attention about this game was how it uses teamwork and strategy to defeat your enemies, plus its got “Quake” in the name. I’m a Doom child, hardcore Quake fan and avid Counter-Strike player. I took a look at Battlefield and wasn’t impressed with the stats system, but Quake Wars will have similar types of gameplay that I’m looking for, especially working individual roles in a team perspective.

Have you guys considered an Enemy Territory MMO?

Enemy Territory: World War III?

(thewonderfulcar) #32

For a future Enemy Territory title, I’d like to see more of a fantasy/medieval setting like in Hexen/Heretic (or even the original Quake)

I’m with you on the ET gameplay style.
However, why can’t it be a “realistic and modern game”? To state it more clearly, I’m not talking about throwing the “arcade” part out of the window and replacing it with “realistic handling”. (FalckonET tried and is not really loved, though some other factors apply) I’m only talking about the setting as in “now”.

For W:ET it was a WW2 era, for ET:QW it is a futuristic story and a mod or new game could take the game to the present.

Now all you’d need to think of is some way to take the concept further, which would need a lot of thought. Just porting the game to a different time doesn’t work.

basing the setting on a modern day realistic shooter would be too restrictive. if you look at the diverse weapons in ETQW where they are not all about straight out shooting like the EMP nades etc you get some tools to do some rely arcadey gameplay. in a modern day setting you might not be able to find a diverse enough weapon set and with human vs human teams would they be different enough to match the asymmetry of ETQW

should ETQW go on to make another ET game id guess its pretty likely to follow the asymmetry style set in ETQW and to get the difference you have with the GDF and Strogg you would have to look further CT vs terrorist style where its bascialy different guns for each team, the weapons might differ but you would u rely feel that your playing a totally different class to the guy your shooting at

A Duke Nukem game in et:qw style might even be cool, although they wont do it due to licensing.
but hunting down pig cops, assault commanders or battlelords, that would be awesome.

(NoControl) #36

Western version of ET maybe.

(iwound) #37

Its got to be ET:Pirate Wars

(kamikazee) #38

I’d prefer ET: Quake Yarrrs!

Jarrred might approve.

(thewonderfulcar) #39

the more I think about it, a Quake 1 enemy territory would rock. On one side you’d have the usual humans with nailguns, shotguns etc. On the other you’d have the trolls with chainsaws and grenade launchers, knights, zombified humans, the flying things that spit green goo etc.

objectives could be stuff like stopping the other team building a siege engine, that kind of thing

And the main ressource to fight over would be babes? Rescuing babes?
