I want to change my FPS(Frams Per Second) in ET but i cant find any good codes. I tried to put in some FPS changes i found but they totaly messed up my game had very bad discoloration!!
Does anyone know how to get FPS to like 70 without messing up the game color. I want to get 67 or higher FPS but i dont want to have any discoloration in the game well maybe a little bit brighter. Can anyone help me! Here is how i want my game and FPS to be like. http://www.rtcwfiles.com/screenshots/40/files2/20611_1.jpg

I want to change my FPS!!! IN ET
Let me put this in context. You just asked the equivalent of âI want to cruise at 100 mph on the freeway/autobahn, how do I do thisâ without telling what kind of car you have.
It would help if you told us what kind of computer, ram, gfx card, etc you hvae. It will help determine how extreme, if possible, on has to go to reach and maintain those FPS levels
I have a HP it has curently 256mb of Ram a 32mb graphics card a 400wat power supply i am running windows ME.
I am getting 2GB of RDRAM memory for this comp a 128 mb graphics card and windows XP and possibly a new Proccesor. So i want the FPS to be as high as it can for the system i have right know. And if possible for later when i get the upgrades for it.
Sorry but you just told us that you have some very nice wheels, great looking bumper and a nice paint on the car. None of it has anything to do with the speed (well almost).
if you already know youâre gonna get new upgrades, why donât you install the upgrades, check your FPS, then check back here?
and yes, the ram, and especially the video card, will help A LOT.
and if youâre expecting to drastically increase your FPS wihout degrading your graphics, then no one can help you there, cuz you canât.
only thing I can think of is to tweak your sound settings, but from how you are talking, iâm willing to bet you arenât going to sacrifice sound degradation either.
PS. i donât think anyone gives a crap about your mighty power supply.
It seems that poor creature has com_maxfps â72â in his config :bored:
theres no reason to expect this, he could have com_maxfps 38921346716573 for all we know but just cant reach that
He didnât mention that the CPU is a 486sx-25 and heâs upgrading with a 487 floating point chip did he?
Hi,
as the others have said, without knowing more about your hardware configuration it will be difficult to estimate the best fps that you will get.
i would say its more important to have a steady fps rather than trying to go as fast as possible, which will not always be achievable and will cause extra burden on your cpu.
for example, i have a pentium 4 2.4, 512mb ram, nvidia 5900 (128mb ram) video card and I force fps to 76. I run at 1024x768 with all the detail on high or max.
you can try and force fps by using the command:
/com_maxfps 76
from the console (press the ` key next to 1 to get the console and press it again to turn off in case you didnt know)
on a lower spec machine you will be better off using
/com_maxfps 43
you can turn the FPS display on and off with the commands:
/cg_drawfps 1 (or 0 for off)
and while we are at it, check your net by using:
/cg_lagometer 1
see here for explanation;
http://www.gameadmins.com/modules.php?name=Sections&op=viewarticle&artid=5
you will also have to try different resolutions and detail settingsâŚ
lastly have look here for useful stuff

good luck

Just so this doesnât get misunderstood:
you can only force your fps downwards (thus limit it). Putting a value in com_maxfps that is higher than what you can achieve will not gain you any fps.
And why would anyone limit their fps to a value lower than possible? Because playing with a steady fps for some people feels better, but the main reason is for jumping further and higher than with a random fps (jumping is fps related in Q3 engine games). If you donât care about jumping, but you donât want to loose fps because of some limit in your config, set com_maxfps to 400 or some other value you are not likely to ever get
Do these setting changes in your config or use /seta com_maxfps x so you wonât loose them the next time you run ET.
Iâve recently gone from com_maxfps 76 to com_maxfps 43. Although I can get 76 a lot of the time, and a lot more some of the time, I prefer a consistent frame rate, and at 43 I find the game smoother and my aim more reliable.
WTH are you getting 2 Gb of RDRAM? 1) RDRAM is overpriced, 2) no offense, but it doesnât really sound like youâd know what to do with that much RAM.
Save your money and downspec your RAM requirements
Ya i know that RDRAM is overpriced but my comp only takes RDRAM. Also i get that much ram from my bros work so its not realy expensive $100 tops for 2 GB :drink:
. I am getting it for running 2 servers pluse sites and pics for a clan. I make graphics and stuff and i need to save the pics for a while and i make mods i am currently working on a MOD right know with Konigstiger for ET and the MOD is BIG we expect it to be more than 100 mb and all the sounds that are used are real. So you see i need all that ram. Also i did research and from what i got from experts is that âthe more Ram you get into your comp the faster it will be and when playing games you get less lagâ HP Customer Support quotes.
âthe more Ram you get into your comp the faster it will be and when playing games you get less lagâ
To a point. But unless your RAM is a bottleneck on your system, donât expect much improvement as far as FPS goes.
Basically, the only way to get what you want (more FPS without degrading image quality) is to buy better hardware. A better graphics card will give you the most improvement.
