my friend with a worse computer than me is gettin more fps than i am, over double. this is my computer spcecs

1.5 amd athlon
768 (about that) mb SDram
GeForce 4 Ti4200, 128mb
windows XP professional

basically i capped at 43 but on EVERY map it goes below, it rarely stays on 43 but stays near there about.

should i be gettin 43 fps? my friend with a poorer PC has capped at 76 and he can get it constant, i got all the r_picmip 3 etc.

so can you guys help me to get more fps?

(BondyBoy007) #2

what’s the spec of the pc u are comparing it against?

(Sauron|EFG) #3

Which resolution? Which driver version? Have you installed correct mobo drivers?

(L2|B4tt3rY) #4

resolution is r_mode 6, driver version? i donno and drivers for what, and i dont know wat mobo drivers are :frowning: this is where i need help

and im comparing it to the same PC with less ram and poorer GFX card

yah my fps are shit to lately, i think since the new etpro

specs: radeon 9600XT (catalyst 4.2) AMD 2800+ asus a7n8xdeluxe 2.0 1024 ram
used 2 get 76 fps with greatest of ease withouth any serious tweaking but now its more like 50 or 60

IRT Battery:
mobo=motherboard
Motherboard/chipset drivers can make a huge difference, especially on motherboards with VIA chipsets. Try to find out which motherboard you have so we can advice you on the driver.

ToeD:
I get 76 FPS almost everywhere (1024*768, not much tweaking) on a slightly slower rig (same mobo, 2500+, 9600Pro) with Catalyst 3.9. Haven’t noticed any difference with ETPro 3.0.

Yes, definately make sure your motherboard drivers are installed. I was getting 50 fps on most maps and couldnt figure out why (P4 2.4ghz, GF 4600, 1 gig ram), then I installed my mobo drivers and my FPS went right up (my skills didnt though :bored:)

(L2|B4tt3rY) #9

lol ok so how do i find out which mobo i got? and all the info u guys need to know to help a ET nab lik myself

(CM..Punk) #10

Press pause while on the system test screen at bootup, it should have ur mobo make & model, bios version, etc.

That’s ok, you can play on shrub servers and still look like an awesome player

is there an easier wat, and what are the best drivers to use for my graphix card? (geforce 4 ti4200 128mb)

(BondyBoy007) #14

try downloading SISoft Sandra 04, this will be able to tell you practically everything you need to know about your hardware(ie. MB make and model among other stuff)

Are you sure your mate’s PC hasn’t got DDR Ram? as this would make a big difference even if he had less DDR that you’ve got SDRam

For your graphics card detonator 41.09 should be good, but anything in the 40 range should be ok - depends what features u want (Duel monitor NView support)

try this driver m8y, http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/winxp_2k_56.64

(^POTATO) #16

I use the detonator 41.09 drivers (as bondyboy suggested) and they work great for me. Every other driver ive used (except earlier ones) dont work very good for ET (crashage :disgust: ), and the newest ones that work with ET are built primarily for the FX series of cards.

(L2|B4tt3rY) #17

can u link me to the 41.09 drivers please

(BondyBoy007) #18

using the search on nvidias webby: http://www.nvidia.com/page/search.html?keywords=41.09

(L2|B4tt3rY) #19

danke, maybe this wil help

(BondyBoy007) #20

make sure u properly uninstall previous versions 1st, there are various apps to help you with this. One I’ve used before is Driver Cleaner but i’ve heard Detonator Destroyer works too
