I know that a proxy nerf is already in the works, but what if they simply reduced the throwing distance of the mines? Or the throwing time, something like that, to make her not so strong when using the suicide proxy technique. If they did this I wouldn’t mind a slight “buff” to her mines in the way they were intended to be used. This would probably come as a little bit of a range nerf, coupled with making them slightly quieter and slightly less visible, but that’s just a thought.
I think I know how to nerf proxy
nope… do you understand that all squishy type mercs can outrun the blast of her mines without the augment “Lock On”?
surely, an experienced player knows how to dodge mines.
(you dont. it was made as a tactical spotter)
@K1X455 the visibility and noise would be decreased, making them harder to notice, and therefore harder to jump over, but easier to manage when you do notice them
I’d agree to trade the augment “Lock On” for “Bigger Blast”; and no other changes… it would still require skill in dodging the mine, but if it get’s triggered, it’s good night.
Make her need to arm her mines, so no more pizza delivery service, she can shot her mines btw
Currently the mines have to have good placement to get experienced players. Having them in easily identifiable locations means you’ll kill nobody except for newbies who don’t know that the glowing red thing on the floor is a bad thing and you shouldn’t shoot it while standing on top of it.
Grievances aside, they don’t need a buff where they’re at, but I agree that the suicide proxy tactic shouldn’t be encouraged and a slightly longer range with the same trigger radius wouldn’t hurt since they’re supposed to be tactically placed anyways. It’s also true that it’s pretty easy to jump off of a mine unless you jumped right on top of it or someone else shot it, which makes it even harder to apply against experienced players since they can still run past the mine with little effort even after triggering it and running through its radius.
Proxy is fine the way she is. Everyone just gets salty because they pay no attention and have horrid aim, but there’s really nothing wrong with her.
Including mines.

This. So much this. Couldn’t agree more if I tried.
That’s also the reason she’s pretty useless in competition games with high skill players. Not because she is squishy but because her mines are pretty damn useless against top players who know when and where to expect them.
You’re 100% right. People just rush way too much in pub games and pay little to no attention with anything. The fact you can put a mine in the same spot on bridge and kill the same guy with it 5-6 times in a row before he learns says enough haha.
in my opinion proxy is just a irritating merc shes not really broken shes just annoying (mechanics wise) and I’ve only ever seen her be used once in the proving grounds cups and pugs I’ve played it because there are better engies. shes just a pubby merc for pubby players which is fair enough
Proxy is in a weird place. In competition she’s not the best choice because Fletcher and Bushwhacker (mostly Fletcher) are simply more reliable in situations and they both have an extra 20hp which is pretty invaluable. In a pub a lot of proxy’s and their mines can simply overwhelm a server…the Proxy swarm makes it extremely hard to do anything even if you know all the good places for mines. Because there will inevitable be a lot of mines in areas you won’t even check and due to poor sound you won’t hear either.
I feel the only thing that should be done is raise the hitbox on mines. Currently, a good “pub” proxy can place mines in A LOT of areas that are extremely hard to shoot a mine even if you see it. You can shoot right at it and it won’t explode. If the hitbox was raised up you could shoot just above the mine and still connect. Mines should be more of an area denial tool so if you have to stop and shoot a mine and slow down it did it’s job. But right now, in many spots, you have to stop and shoot a whole damn mag at one and hope you blow it up. Combine that with mines simply not making any sound at all and you get a frustrating experience when dealing with a swarm of Proxy players.
the mine is called “Proximity Mines”
it should get triggered if something big/ fast coming near it.
yes the hitbox for triggering it with a shot should be bigger, but, the sensor also goes thru walls which is already making it exploitable for people like me.

I’m not sure why you felt the need to define what a proximity mine is. My point was pretty clear. I want them to be easier to shoot so that they aren’t as exploitable as they are now on some areas of maps where you have to not just slow down if you catch them but you have to stop entirely for a long period. And when you get a bunch of Proxy players on one map it turns a merc that isn’t that good in competitive into a nightmare for pubbing.

because sometimes the mine doesnt explode even after some people shot it from the corner.
Proxy and Fletcher need a whole rework. I’d just start from scratch and never try to emulate those two characters myself.
Proxy is not overpowered, she’s just frustrating to fight against. If she was overpowered she would be swarming among competitive teams. But as she is, she’s just good at pubbing, pretty much like Phantom.
If anything, her issues should be solved with reworks, not straight nerfs. Giving her the ability to use the mines offensively with a more ranged throw but getting rid of the so hated mine + shot combo could be a good idea for exemple. And shotguns could maybe be reworked so they are more efficient at mid range but can’t one-shot anything without a short ranged headshot. Those are just a few exemples of course.
Shes really more annoying than strong. Like a fly, that you can finish off, with her own mines.
Very satisfying.
