I see a TK-ers / anti-social player's dream scenario here...

I got kicked tonight after I killed about 5 team mates who failed to realise that the nice red flags were mines. Of course they chose to file complaints against me even though it was there own stupidtity that caused their death. This is just selfish behaviour when they should have known it was their own mistake.

Now the problem is this. We all know that some people just enjoy TKing and screwing the game up for other pople. They don’t care about playing, they just want to spoil it for everyone else. What I have seen many times is that they aggrevate you so you shoot back at them. Then they file a complaint against you and ultimatly you are kicked. But hey why go to the bother of aggrevating someone when all you need to do now is run over someone’s mines and you get the complaint option - do this a few times and that innocent mine laying player will be kicked.

This really could be a serious problem. You see unlike now where everyone will know who the TK-er is and can vote them off, using this method the anti-social player could be doing it subtly and no one will know what they’re up.

The only solution i can see is to prevent people who die running over another team mate’s mines from being able to file a complaint. There is the flip side that a TK=er could use mines to avoid having complaints against them but I can’t see that being effective.

placing mines in some places gets an error message something like “cant place mine here”, so aslong as all spawn areas are marked non-mine (i.e. concrete floors) disabling complaints for mines shouldnt have the drawback of being used for tk - only more pain from them being put in annoying places.

imo

A little complicated, but how about this. Each victim gets ONE complaint per mine TK per round. So if it is one person running over mines intentionally, they can’t kick anyone. OTOH, if it is an eng planting a minefield outside of spawn, then each person tked gets their complaint. Lame miner gets kicked.

This ties in to longstanding bug from wolf. TK messages should say what weapon was used. If you are running alone and suddenly explode, it is not clear if it was a friendly grenade, mine, or support fire. This can affect your judgement on whether it was an intentional TK or not. If people got a big red message that said “YOU STEPPED ON TEAMMATE SO AND SOS MINE” or “YOU STOOD UNDER TEAMMATE SO AND SOS SUPPORT FIRE” they might not just reflexively complain.

Another option would be to make it known globally, so a message would say ‘so and so stepped on a team mine and filed a complaint’ with any decent players, that should make a kick vote pretty easy.

Good thinking batman!

I think there is a message saying how you died but it gets lost amongst the global, team chat and other messages at the bottom of the screen. Says something like “SoAndSo stepped on Wotshisname’s mine”

mmm interesting problem …

I supose it wouldn’t be too bad to simply have a cvar to make mines
non FF in pub servers ?

what do ya think ?

How many times does this happen! lol. I think complaints should be disabled when this happens and maybe complaints should be disabled altogether and just leave the kick vote to do the job! :blah:

they should just make it so friendlies cant trip mines. or so they cant file complaints for tk mine kills. or at least make it a server cvar option.

it can be too easily abused by llamas to get players kicked.

Did I reply to this? :???: :weird:

Totally agree! It will be too easy for people to TK or wreck your mine layouts by simply swapping teams.
