I really like Phantom. I mean really, really!

If you rush her on her healing station she should have noticed you coming and fired a good shotgun shot at you first of all. This immediately kills the shield and possibly does some more damage. At this point the Phantom realises trouble is starting and switches to his weapon, probably taking a second shot at the same time. He probably can’t get the 3rd shot off before he’s dead and if he’s managed to dance then she should have reclaimed the heal station area since your melee weapon is no longer a threat.

If she’s using an SMG it is harder for her, but still doable.

The only way he’s scary to her is if he never actually attempts to melee her at all - or manages to slip behind her unseen. In which case again I ask you, this is no different than a slightly weaker Skyhammer, would you make a rage post about Skyhammer as Aura?

The difference is a good Phantom player will never try to melee her unless her back is turned. A good Skyhammer can’t get behind as easily, nor does he have a spare 75 HP to use in order to get advantageous positioning.

And man, I’m not raging. I’m just expressing my opinion on something that is ruining this game for me. Sorry if it sounds like I’m raging. I love this game more than I’ve loved a game in probably 10 years. I just don’t want the feel of the game to change this drastically.

And again, I love playing as Phantom, he’s easily my favorite merc to play. I’m not so short sighted though, to ignore the obvious way he changes the game in a negative way (in my opinion). He changes it from a fast paced, objective based game into a slow paced game of hide and seek where, if the Phantom has done his job, the enemy team completely stops playing objectives and just actively hunts him.

Don’t worry, not talking about you, talking about the guy earlier that posted about dying to him as Aura.

I agree that the impact he does have on the game is pretty lame even if it can be handled. Yes he can be seen, immediately bursted and killed. Yes you can heartbeat sensor him. But constantly having to watch your back and look in every direction is pretty lame. Before you could have faith that at least if the players guarding the route on your left didn’t notice an enemy they’d die from them and you’d get warning that a threat was incoming. Now you don’t know if a Phantom has simply walked by less observant people.

This means you can no longer focus on what’s ahead of you all the time and have to play paranoid.

I agree, it’s bad. But while it’s bad it’s not the same as being uncounterable.

Summed up quite nicely.
