I know it's a question many asked a while ago, but please, is Dirty Bomb dying?

(AlphaUT) #1

I won’t say BS, just get right into it.

  1. Slow progress
  2. Bugs
  3. Server issue
  4. FPS issue
  5. Optimize issue
  6. Poor Balances
  7. Poor competition scene
  8. Dead Rank System

Don’t tell me “Hey, CCM is coming.”
coming =/= now, poor balance is a known issue, and CCM is literally “being working on” for months. Nothing but “test week”. Also please as a known issue, shouldn’t it be “being working on” sooner ?

Don’t tell me “Bugs will create other bugs”, please, I know what it means, but considering the history of how SD dealing with bugs, sadly, I hate to say it is just another BS for me. If u ask me, I would probably tell u “well, it’s going to take another 6 months to fix those bugs that were created 6 months ago.”

Sadly, but the truth is, player base is dropping. You can dislike, uh sorry they don’t have “dislike”, press disagree button, but you can’t deny the fact

(MilkyBear) #2

It is quite concerning that our player base drops like crazy over time. That’s is my answer.

(pEaRson) #3

Yeah it is. Its pretty clear, after such a long period of people denying that. Including the devs. The player base drops immensely. Serious should’ve been taken months before. Its kinda to that point where its safe to say: “its too late devs”. Many comp teams left, including Pr0w^, and the essential will never be taken care of. I wanna make it clear, that the game is amazing and great mechanics. Dont blame the game, blame the devs behind it. Its dying and its almost dead. Unfortunate

I don’t think DB has been the project they’re working on the most up to now, I think people are moving back into DB from other areas, we’ll have to see, but “DOOM AND GLOOM” helps nobody. If the guys with homes and families on the line are happy with the progress, works for me

(AlphaUT) #5

You could see the reason of why I open this thread as “A parent is watching his kid being bad and couldn’t do anything besides of watching. He spends his love on his kid, but his kid does not want to grow or change. Now his parent is crying to other parents of how he couldn’t help his kid. He is crying to other parents for he can’t continuing of loving.”

Alot of people I know that I have been talking to recently have basically said that if this update dont fix performance then they are ditching DB entirely…even if they dont want to as they freaking love this game. But I can’t say I blame them.

For me, its the current playerbase that is ruining it for me atm. I just dont understand there mentality.

Suffice to say, the future for alot of the long time players rests on this next update, as for me if they aint playing then I dont want to continue either, which truly sucks.

Not everyone has the patience to wait for a better game over and over again, especially it’s been a year and more. I think the slow progress is the main killer that is killing this game. There is nothing we can do about but just to watching it dying.

(Fractures) #8

yea, the amount of times streams have been canceled worries me
i always tell myself ‘they must be busy with the map update’
ha ha ;(

(AlphaUT) #9

“The dev team wants to work on something clean before adding anything else. They let glitches and performance issues accumulate for a bit too long.” By Eox, one of the moderator, he even said it by himself about the glitches and performance issues.

Either caused by slow progress or poor planning

Splash Damage, the developers of Dirty Bomb, currently make short video explaining some things here and there. They are provided to us by Shoe., the Splash Damage Community Manager.

Nexon, the publishers of Dirty Bomb, run community streams fro Dirty Bomb on Tues 11:00 AM PDT. Raziel Warmonic the Nexon Community Manager of Nexon for Dirty Bomb takes part in those.

Chances are either Nexon needed Raziel for some other purpose during that time or something else happened which made stream an impossibility. it could have been something as simple as a fire drill. Who knows.

I do know if they can run stream they will though. I believe Raziel Warmonic and other employees of Nexon know the importance of trying to keep as much communication going with the community as possible.

As I believe Nail suggested, Splash Damage does not only work on Dirty Bomb. They do have other projects I believe. With multiple projects I imagine they have to constantly adjust their resources and prioritize. I feel, however, Dirty Bomb is still a project they wish to work on and succeed. They just need time to work on it just like everything else does.

(Nail) #11

actually they have been working on several different projects like the just finished “Gears of War 4” multiplayer

(BananaSlug) #12

they could advertise and get new players, but then what? They would see the “broken” game, left never comeback, and spread info like “omg this game is soo bugged dont play it” soo new player are exacly good, because if they attract the when the game has better times, these players could stick to the game for awhile

i think it makes sense (which is quire rare in my comments)

I get it why people r gonna ditch the game if this next update doesnt fix major issues. Its been a frekin long time, and even with this update. Planned to release early november its now gonna be released mid or late november. It drags on and just tells the players: yo just wait. But the updates r dissapointing

That’s a good one.
If I’d get a weapon kit or an upgrade kit everytime an important or semi-important thread with questions, ideas, proposals or issues was ignored by CM for some reason, I’d swim in perfect Cobalts.

Moderators, who do it in their free time besides a job, family and friends are more active than an actual Nexon employee.

(The_N00Ba) #16

I don’t really speak for the moderators or Nexon on this but I don’t think the moderators have as much restrictions on this matter as do Nexon employees. So I think the moderators have greater ability to interact with us. Their opinions are their own and they are free to express them.

Nexon employees on the other hand appear to primarily be restricted in their actions by Nexon business policies, which I imagine are rather standard practices throughout similar businesses.

I imagine it is because of these business polices that it may appear that threads are ignored by Nexon, but I really see no evidence of that. I find there is no indication on these forums that I can see that even tells me if a Nexon Employee and/or even a moderator has looked and only looked at posts of the thread. So how can any one say that a question/idea/proposal/issue has been ignored.

I imagine some one would mention how some calls to people are ignored. Again I would say there is no clear evidence that the call actually was ignored merely speculation. Again business policy may prevent any actually response. Also limited time in a usual work day may be another factor. There are many reasons for such things.

The main thing I see is people trying to do their job. People just like all of us. I may not know them on a personal level but they are human just like us. They are not perfect just like us. They make mistakes just like us. They are capable of both destructive and constructive things just like us.

I believe they have good intentions just like the rest of us. That is why I say they will try to keep things going with the community as best they can. I think people need to try to understand though that Nexon employees can not do what ever they want on this matter. They have to follow company policy which unfortunately limits their ability.

(K1X455) #17

Believe me when I say: “There are people who want to help them do a better job.”

(AlphaUT) #18

@The_N00B @Nail different project different team, there is no effect on it. This is what they said when the players were concerned about if the slow progress will be even slower base on multiple projects are going around.

#19

I won’t negate the fact that Dirty Bomb has a few issues at the moment but it’s not dying in my opinion.
The upcoming update looks promising and will hopefully help people experiencing lag.

They are just humans as @The_N00B wrote above and we receive quite some insight on what’s up next with the developer videos.

is the skummer skosh done yet

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_tactics

The interesting part here is:

In contemporary military science, tactics are the lowest of three planning levels: (i) strategic, (ii) operational, and (iii) tactical. The highest level of planning is strategy: how force is translated into political objectives by bridging the means and ends of war. The intermediate level, operational, the conversion of strategy into tactics, deals with formations of units. In the vernacular, tactical decisions are those made to achieve the greatest immediate value; strategic decisions are those made to achieve the greatest overall value, irrespective of the immediate results of a tactical decision.

These terms are sometimes applied in the business world to plan out how a company approaches the day/week/month/longer term plans and what they hope to accomplish.

I’m not convinced at this point that there’s even an operational-level plan, nevermind a strategy. Please give us something guys :x
