I updated my comp and now can’t get either RTCW or ET to work. I’ve tried downloading the patches but am most likely saving to completely the wrong places. Can anyone help? Please…

Oh and when I say I’ve updated the comp I mean I bought a new one and tried installing both games from original discs which worked but I need the patches and to be very honest a step by step guide of where to save them to. Now running on Windows 7 if that makes any difference.

Hey thanks for the info and download. Another problem though, I keep getting an error message saying “game code (ui_mp_x86_dll) failed pure server check”. Have I downloaded something wrong?

run the game as administrator, each time you visit a server with a new mod, it has to download and install stuff to a place only admin is allowed.

I had to install punkbuster manually as an administrator to get the game working in Windows 7…

there you choose the game you wish to update, and use their ‘update wizard’

1. Instaling the game Wolfenstein Enemy Territory

1.1 Introduction - Install enemy territory
The game will be able to activate only after the completion of all activities related to this topic. Do not switch the game to the end of the installation and did not paste any mods or configs.

1.2 Grab the game and patches
Subsequently download the three files. Preferably before downloading turn off virus protection, because antivirus programs can damage files.

1.3 Install the game
WolfET.exe run the file AS ADMIN and install the game. We recommend installation in the default directory (C: \ Program Files \ Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory). ET_Patch_2_60.exe then run the file and install patch 2.60.

This latest patch is 2.60b overlay. Unpack your ET-2.60b-win32.zip and enter the directory \ Enemy Territory 2.60b \ win32 \ and copy the two files: ET.exe and ETDED.exe. Enter the game installed directory (default is C: \ Program Files \ Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory) and paste here previously copied files. You will be prompted to replace the existing files and then replace.

2. How to properly update the Punkbuster - Wolfenstein Enemy Territory?

2.1 Introduction - Updating PunkBuster
Punkbuster not changed, or is provided with the installation of Wolfenstein Enemy Territory is outdated and will cause you being kicked on PB enabled servers. Initially, it served to update the Punkbuster via app pbweb.exe pb directory. However, the application was unstable and outdated. New application to update PunkBuster is PBSETUP and only through this application, the program should update PunkBuster.

2.2 Downloading PBSETUP
Pbsetup program can be downloaded from the official site evenbalance: http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php (download requires entering a code)

2.3 Updating with PBSETUP
Before you start remove the folder named PB, which is located the root folder of the installed game Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory. After downloading the program PBSETUP double click on it to open. You will see a window telling us that the program is run first and must accept the license and get ready to wait for information and updates. Click “OK” button, then wait, in between time, approve a license.

We are located in the main window PunkBuster Setup. Click the “Add a Game”, then with a “Game”, choose “Enemy Territory”. For sure we can still manually set the “Game Path” (the path where you installed the game), but it should be detected automatically. Now click “OK” mark Enemy Territory on the list and click “Check for Updates”. Next just wait for the execution of automatic update. After all, you will be informed of the update is complete and we can exit the program using the “Quit”.

2.4 PBSVC (PunkBuster Services) Install/Uninstall/Reinstall:
After the PB Update it is worth to check if PB Services are working good, because PB services are known to very often cause problems. The PBSVC.exe tool can be downloaded here:

Fire up and wait until the end of the test. When properly completed, we can run the game.
(when you reinstall punkbuster service restart is needed after uninstall)
