I have a MAJOR issue with a so called 'feature' in ET.

I was playing on Oasis, and I think the timelimit was changed, because we were on the map for at least 40 minutes. It was constant defense, and I worked really hard to keep the old city. In fact, I was the only person doing any work on my team, so the teams were in fact stacked against me. I still was destroying the competition, and I wasn’t talking, or anything. I didn’t do anything to make them mad, besides kill them one by one, every time they’d come into my area.

THEN with only two minutes remaining, some moron becomes a ref, and switches me to allies. Not knowing what happened, I switched back to axis quickly, and he switched me back to allies and locked axis. I told him he can’t just do something like that after I’ve worked so long to get that win. He then said, “Losers always whine.” He put me on the fucking losing team, and if I was such a loser, then why did I have the highest kills, accuracy, xp, rank?

I don’t see a single use for the switch user to team feature. If the teams are not balanced, then we would do an XP shuffle. I think it’s total BS that people can throw their weight around like this, and basically ruin the only thing I do for fun before I go to work.

He then muted me, so with 45 seconds left, I team killed the entire allies team, to ensure that my true team won, and I quit when there was just a second left.

Having the feature to change the team a player is on, is bunk. If someone wants to play defense, then they’ll play defense. You don’t put your pitchers in the starting lineup, you put your base hitters there.

No, it’s a great feature for balancing teams on pubs. Like a lot of stuff it can be misused, but don’t blame that on the feature itself.

And you call it stacking against you although you alone held the old city for 40 minutes??? Sounds like you need to find a better server… (Don’t we all. :banghead: )

My guys were clueless. It was 6 vs. 6, and my team were doing the complete wrong things. They were covert ops, and engineers. There was no risk of them planting dynamite, at least at that point.

I was a ‘rambo medic’, killing while healing. I had more than double the frags of my second place member on the team, and the first place member of the allies. No, it wasn’t that lame bug where it says, “95 frags, 98 deaths.” Or whatever. (By the way, any plans on fixing that?)

State your opinion of the dumbass and type /disconnect and find a REAL server.

(MadMattUK) #5

Cos your a boring rambo medic…

Try something else like engineer, and see how far you come
on the rankings. Even I can come top sometimes as a medic,
it’s the easiest class out of the lot.

that feature is a bit open to abuse though, that i do agree. :eek2:

When I play, I first choose a panzer soldier. Once I have all my stars, I switch to field ops. After I fill my stars up in that, I go rambo medic.

(ColdBackHAND) #7

Play on a real server. You are boring me with this crap.

(Mr.Monkey) #8

Real mature way of dealing with it I must admit.

Try growing up a bit. Thanks.

(Sauron|EFG) #9

I never questioned your skill, or the fact that the ref made a stupid call. What’s your point???

(MadMattUK) #10

They do 50 map campaigns for ET now???..

(Matt) #11

I fill all my stars per class in about two maps. I can fill medic up in about a half hour if the server is a 10v10 or more.

(MadMattUK) #12

lol, i was only kidding. where do you play, 'cos i’d like to
spectate you, if that’s o.k. if your that good, it will make
enjoyable viewing.

p.s. you seem to take my sarcasam well!.

The feature is very useful for balancing teams when the players refuse to do so on their own. The admin on that server seems to have used it improperly but this is not necessarily so as we only have yoru recollection of the event to work with.

Consider this… the teams have become uneven due to some allies quitting as they get frustrated with losing against the l337 axizzz defenzzzz… The admin sees that the enemy is struggling so he takes the axis player with the highest XP and puts him on the allied side in order to break the deadlock and make the game more interesting and fun for all. The admin would be better served to call for a volunteer to switch sides before resorting to a forced switch. But maybe he did and our poster didn’t see the message. I’ve seen this done on servers before and I’ve seen players miss the admin’s request and then ask why they were switched.

Regardless, I think that your reaction is a little whiny. Does it really matter that you ended the game on the losing side? What is the big deal? You know how you played in the game, regardless of which side you were on. Striving for the objective is the important thing. You seemed to have done your part as an axis… did you do so as an ally? Granted, you weren’t given much opportunity to do so by your description… But did you make the effort or did you whine about getting swapped?

Mad matt why do you hate medics so much ?I think we do a good job :frowning:

(The_Jesus_Zeppelin) #15

you know whats worse than all of that! getting kicked for being too good, and or getting kicked for sniping! as if its not a real part of the game its just to annoy people!

(Mjolnyr) #16

A server will be always pathetic, when ill-minded ones have superior power to “manage” gameplay on it.
It’s not an issue of the game features. It’s the problem of abusiveness of administrating power. The more powerful the functions are, the worse when these features are wrongfully used.

(Demo) #17

Whats wrong with Rambo Medics?

(dJ6i8bY) #18

i dont see nothing wrong with that feature… infact the server i normaly play it gets use’d an odd time… be it 2 even the teams or for the odd time when a group of ppl come in and trash talk the clan that runs the server… (then the clan member/members put the trash talkin clan into the same team and take some of there know m8s in to help them) wich also makes for a fun game. Normaly tho if im on a team thats dominating i switch sides 2 try and break the lock. Am not saying im a gr8 player but i can hold my own

this thread tried to shed some light on administrator abuse
http://www.splashdamage.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5305

I think the end result was “It’s my server and I can be as big an asshole as i want in it”
