I have 350,000 credits, I maybe know what I'm doing with them now

(TheVulpesFox) #1

So I have all the mercs except rhino (who I refuse to buy) and have just been playing, not using my credits for anything.
I want to use all my credits and see what I can get. I don’t have any cobalts.
I only have 4,625 fragments (after I have recycled all lead and iron cards)

What would be the best way to get the most out of my credits. I want to try and get some cobalts (but that is a lot of fragments)

I guess I could buy loads of equipment cases and turn almost everything into fragments (I also have un-used bronze silver and gold cards)

I might record it or stream it (at least keep track of what I get) for your viewing pleasure.

i vote on buy cases

Math Incoming, ETA 0400 UTC. Just reserving this parking space.

If you have any questions about my math, ask away.

COMMENCE THE NUMBERS:
So with 350k, you can buy 350 cases, but this is a silly idea if you’re after Cobalts. It takes an expected 1,000 cases (nearly three times what you have) to get a Cobalt, so’d you’d expect to get 0.35 Cobalts. [Statistical analysis gives about a 70.5% chance of NOT getting a Cobalt.] A full list of the Full Stat Cards (Bronze+) you’d expect is in the spoiler.
Bronze: 26.25
Silver: 7
Gold: 1.75
Cobalt: 0.35
If you were to recycle whatever came out of a case (including Cobalts), you would expect 65.06 Fragments per case. If you were to recycle everything BUT Cobalts, you would expect 52.06. Given you specified your goal as Cobalts, I’m going to use this second number for all calculations going forward, unless otherwise specified.

So, given it takes 50,000 Credits and 20,000 Fragments to craft one Cobalt, it would take an expected 385 cases (+50,000 Credits for the craft, a total of about 435,000 Credits if you bought every case). You may note that 385 is more than 350, but that assumes a starting point of 0 Fragments. You have 4,625 as a starting point. (If you want me to run numbers again with your current Fragments, or any other value you fancy, I will. Just give me time.)

Given that starting point, you need 15,375 Fragments, an expected 296 cases. Accounting for the crafting cost and buying every case, its 346,000 Credits. That’s not a lot of wiggle room if RNG decides to rear it’s ugly mug, but it is expected that you could get a single Cobalt for the merc of your choice. For buying 296 cases, you’d expect:
Bronze: 22.2
Silver: 5.92
Gold: 1.48
Cobalt: 0.296
BUT, for everything you choose to keep (asides from Cobalts, which I accounted for), you take away from the Fragments you can craft with. If you’re willing to scrap a Gold or a few Silvers that you already have, you’d be nearly guaranteed to get one Cobalt.

ONE.

Ain’t that a kick in the teeth? I’m sitting on a dragon’s hoard of 490,000 Credits and over 100,000 Fragments (Hooray for Crafting Week, I recycled just a few cards.) until those Crafting changes decide to show up, or an Event with Special Edition Cards. (If you’re curious about the expected amount I’d get, CW/Dickens had a 0.3% from cases, ReV had a 1%, but cost 3.5 times as much because reasons (neglecting boosters because reasons). That’s 1.47 CW/Dickens or 1.4 ReV cards.)

You are probably better off waiting for another event with special load out cards if you are just going to be mass opening cases like that.

The other thing you can do is see how large a pile of credits you can sit on. Something nice to show new people how this game is not at all pay to win.

Buy 50 cases and list the result, also drinking game

 • Sip if you got Lead or Iron
 • Drink everytime you got 5 Leads in a row
 • Drink everytime you got 2 Irons in a row
 • One shot if you got Bronze, Silver, or Gold
 • Empty the bottle if you got Cobalt

Better off saving for turtle event. Your gonna need 50k for turtle and im sure theres a chance that there will be boosters or some other oportunities to get event cards using credits

(TheVulpesFox) #7

So, I might save for the next event (whenever that will be) and splurge out then. Thanks for the math @MisterBadmin I don’t think I can appreciate your effort enough.

Only problem is I’m 17 and I also don’t like any alcohol I’ve ever tried :stuck_out_tongue:

I agree with @Mc1412013, save something.
If you have luck like me, you’ll need a lot of credits to get some card(s)

(n-x) #9

It’s up to you, what you find important. If your end goal is cobalts, then the only way is to buy cases convert everything to fragments and try your luck. But I guess most people will tell you that trying to get cobalts atm is way to expensive.

If you are not set on cobalt, then I would go for gold cards. You need way less fragments for them and they are the second highest rarity. But, if your end goal is cobalt, dont waste any credits or fragments on any rarity below. You should also go through your inventory and check for all bronze, silver and gold cards. What good is a gold card for a merc you never play (recycle). What good is a silver card for a merc, when you have a better bronze card (in terms of actual load out) for this merc (recycle silver card).

Last but not least. Dont spend all your credits. I would keep a reserve of at least 150k if turtle maybe comes out or if there is an event you need credits for.

So basically: If cobalt is a must, buy equipment cases and keep 200k credits. turn the cards you get into fragments. when you have enough fragments craft a cobalt (leaving you with 150k credits) and be sad, because you more than likely get a shitty one.

@MisterBadmin if only your math can give me clues how to fix my glorious 1.16fps…

By my estimate, you’ll be able to craft a cobalt out of regular drops and opening Equipment Cases twice a year (without RNG dropping a bluey).

Even if you decide to pay for Elite Cases (like my friend did), RNG still has a big foothold on your quest for cobalt. The cobalt skin has it’s game merits though.

(n-x) #11

Sorry for derailing this thread for a moment, but why do you have to mention this “my glorious 1.16fps” everywhere @K1X455 ? Do you want this to become a DB meme or something? I dont know why, but I find it super annnoying to read it in every second thread you post in.

(frostyvampire) #12

Keep your credits. Send them all on event cases when the next event is out (#soon)

Oh well, get creative then! Drink… I dunno, apple juice?

(TheFluffyOne) #14

Why don’t you just keep up saving money to get to 1 million, then you’ll have a reason to go to matches and scoff everyone for being poor peasants.

(pumpkinmeerkat) #15

Buy all the loadouts you want in bronze. Save the rest.

(K1X455) #16

@Kelben NEXON recently closed my ticket for support, and I’m just doing my part to keep things relevant. My problem with this game has been going on since August and I get the feeling that it’s being swept under the rug.

I’m getting reports that Nexon servers are reaching their end of productive value and are possibly causing problems as well.

(Teflon Love) #17

FYI @K1X455’s glorious 1.16fps work as intended but will be increased by 2% soon.

(HammerOfDawn21) #18

This is something that has worked for me in the past, but it might just be superstition.

Buy and open 10 cases if results are poor, try another 10 cases at a different time, different day.

If someday you get some good cards in those 10 cases, immediately buy as many cases as possible and abuse your new found luck.

(ThePigVomit) #19

Never open fewer than 10 cases at a time. Period.

if you open them willy-nilly, you are assured of lead poisioning (spelling).

When opening 10 at a crack, I’m nearly assured of at least 1 bronze and 2 iron.

(Mc1412013) #20

Id rather only use special edition cards. Any one can get a colbalt but special editions are rare and its more of a jealous and wow factor then a colbalt to lower levels
