I hate grid coordinates!

Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love ET. My ONLY gripe with it is the use of grid coordinates for locations as opposed to the location names in RTCW. You know, if you’re playing beach… the obj was just stolen and you see/hear “(Back Stairway): Incoming!” come across the screen…you know to defend long. Now all you get is “(G,1): Incoming!” That is so non-descriptive of a location you have know idea where that is unless you; pop open the map, guesstimate based on the exclamation point location, or memorize the key coordinates in each map! :banghead:

Have any of you honestly memorized any of the locations by the coordinates? I don’t think I ever will unless I get back into a clan and compete/train for competitions. It will just be too much to remember once the custom maps start coming out. :weird:

I would rather have grid locations than “unknown” locations, which you see all the time in vanilla RtCW.

I think it’s just something that one needs to allow a bit of time to get familiar with (and I’m not saying that I am, yet).

What I find far more difficult to deal with at the moment is the fact that the map in the compass retains a fixed orientation. I wonder whether it might be better if that map rotated to face the way I’m moving: my gut feeling is that this would make it much easier to navigate.

theyre not that bad, just check em from the command map, it does take some more time than the locations in rtcw, but its a slower paced game anyway. could be better with descriptive names for locations, but i guess the way it is now puts focus on using the command map, which is quite usefull.

I think its ok, but my problem is it, that when somebody of my team is calling " Incoming (G2),for examble than I know where my Teammate needs help, but I don´t know where I am.

Always to look on the Command map is not good.

So my suggestion: Set on the HUD, maybe on the left side, a small announcement, where I can see where I am. ( H3; B5; etc)

Hope you could understand, what I mean.

Maybe some special places on the map could be named and for the remaining areas the grid coordinates are shown.

That confuses me too, having the map rotate would feel much more intuitive I think. Oh, and I hate that the compass is sluggish, it takes a moment to settle when you turn.

I got frickin pwned by you on more than one occasion also! GGs man!

I’ve actually found it to be a much faster paced game than RTCW. There are so many little objectives that can aid in offense/defense that I find myself constantly running to different areas of the map. I don’t know if you’ve ever played Market Garden for RTCW, but that map can literally last for MANY hours. I just can’t see that happening on ET once people get strategies utilizing all of the classes to great effect.

Now that is an excellent solution.
